WHAT'S THE Sup ForumsERDICT?

Its a good ass game.

its shit

This is crazy, first crash now sonic soon mario odyssey. What year is this? All we need now is Spyro to get released from the hell of skylanders.

maybe

This is spot on. Great nostalgic fun, it does have some flaws. Best Sonic game since the late 90s

Its fucking terrible, dont let the shills trick you

>boring music
>extreme input delay
>final boss is shit
>ending is shit

Save you money for Mario Odyssey, the upcoming best platformer of all time

Best Sonic game since Generations, and best 2D Sonic game in a very long time

>Also, how do you replay individual levels?
Is this possible ?

Anyone speak Nintendo here? I am a bit stuck with this, I am trying to find the name of the gem and I couldn't translate this Nintendo gibberish.

sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Sonic_Mania/Gallery#Japanese_manual

C'mon user, if you don't like the game that's fine but don't lie.

>post yfw you realize you're 20 years older since the last time you played sonic and you don't have the reaction times you did in the 90s

How do you do the super peel out the game told me I could do it but how

Same.

PC friends, what are you playing/doing while you wait.

Picture related, I should be able to get S-T-K-Eggman and the heavies done by pc release.

>no badniks
TAXMAAAAAAN YOU BETTER TELL US THE NAMES OF THE BADNIKS YOU MOTHERFUCKER

how to play as tales and knuckles ???

>PC friends, what are you playing/doing while you wait.
Probably shit posting about how much better pc gaming is to try and piss off console bros, but the bros are actually playing video games so they don't notice.

It's straight up just the best 2D Sonic. Even better than all three Mega Drive games. It'll be a slow burn but people will come to realize this when they revisit Mania more than the classics whenever they want to play some Sonic.

You can find out about their names if you speak Nintendo.

only I'm allowed to know them

It has missed potential due to time constraints. With an extra unlockable character, online co-op/comp modes, and a ratio fix for local competitive, it would be a 10/10 easy. As it stands it's already the best Sonic game

It's damn good, the only gripes i have are that there are a few bugs, Oil ocean still sucks and the super Sonic boss is a bit underwhelming

Why are the names even in Japanese in the first place? It's not a Japanese game.

The game is great, but they fucked up with the transitions. 3&K had flawless transitions, all levels connected in a way that made sense.

is it not Up+Jump?

>Fucking around as Tails in Chem Plant
>Go under water and try to fly
>Tails does a doggy paddle instead of using his tails
That's the cutest thing ever. I've never played as tails before I'm always player one so it was nice to see that.

HOW CAN I REPLAY INDIVIDUAL LEVELS YOU MENTALLY ILL WOOMY ZOOMIES

It's a Best Of album. It won't connect the same as S3&K which all took place on the same island.

What is D.A Garden? A new zone? So we have 5 new zones total? Sorry I'm a virgin to the series.

You have to be in "No save mode" to toggle the unlockable extras on/off

Does Sonic and Nights take place in the same universe?

He did that in Sonic3 too.

I haven't played it yet but all I had to see was the use of the fucking Sandopolis light switches in Oil Ocean Zone to sell me on it.

Of course, but there's still a story being told, so they should connect levels in a sensible way anyway.

ffs

Here you go

Casino Night to Ice Cap and Ice Cap to Launch Base were arbitrary as fuck.

D.A. Garden was the sound test in Sonic CD. They brought it back for Mania with the same weird name.

COMING WITH HOT OPINIONS

GOD TIER
Stardust Speedway
Press Garden
Studiopolis

GOOD TIER
Metallic Madness
Titanic Monarch
Flying Battery
Hydrocity
Chemical Plant
Oil Ocean
Lava Reef

OK TIER
Green Hill
Mirage Saloon

GAME IS GOOD

Carnival Night to Ice Cap, fuck.

You can only use secrets in the No Save file. Go there and press the top button on your 4 button pad (Triangle, X, or Y, depending on your system).

Flying Battery and Chemical Plant deserve god tier. Flying Battery has so many crazy things you can find by exploring.

>Metallic Madness
>not God tier

Opinion discarded

Thanks, stranger! I appreciate it.

Haven't gotten to play the game yet but I'm tempted to call Mirage Saloon the best original zone based on music alone.

So everything has been unlocked? Thought the gold medals were still being worked on.

...

Getting all golds is the ultimate cuck, don't even bother. It just unlocks Blue Spheres as a mode.

It's the worst thing ever and I like it.

His hair looks so fake.

Time attack you dingus

>PS4 has bugz out the ass
>Xbone releases later
>PC gets delayed 2 weekz
NINTY WINS AGAIN

you look fake

Are Nights and Sonic in the same universe?

>Switch
*blocks your path*

I lost interest when I heard so much of it is nostalgia rehashing bullshit, sad since some stuff is improved like the animations. Even Megaman 9/10 had new levels, come the fuck on. And I'm the kind of person who paid 30something bucks for Darius Burst CS.

I'll buy it when it's 10 bucks, hopefully lower.

>everyone has their questions answered except me

Have all the Rosyfags killed themselves yet?

Don't worry senpai I bought a CE to cover us both

So falseflagging about consoles having bugs is now a thing? whatever you say to make that switch purchase feel better

>mfw I didn't game over on Oil Ocean, let alone 12 fucking times

It's a damn good game, although it's not the perfect 10/10 some Sonic fans wished it was. A lot of the common criticisms I've seen of the game can just be chalked up to autism - stuff like "the levels don't transition seamlessly enough" (who honestly cares?) or "why isn't there online for the multiplayer" (that would be a clusterfuck and a waste of dev time). With that being said, there ARE legitimate improvements that could be made for a potential Sonic Mania 2.

Firstly, the spread of unlockable content seems to be laid out all wrong. You get all of the interesting unlockables really quickly and then fuck all later on on the harder Blue Sphere stages. There should have been a few more unlockables later on (no, not Amy Rose you autistic fucks) and they should have been worth the hassle because some of those later Blue Sphere stages are BRUTAL especially if you're going for the Perfect.

The game definitely feels like there was supposed to be one or two more zones in there - the Heavy you fight at the end of Lava Reef doesn't really seem to belong there (he was probably supposed to have his own zone at some point) and Titanic Monarch seems to have an overwhelming amount of assets in Act 1 specifically that look like they belong to Chrome Gadget Zone. I know the game is chock full of references but with the way some of the assets contrast in the last zone it wouldn't surprise me if Chrome Gadget was intended to be a zone at some point. Also Knuckles doesn't get as many exclusive acts and routes as he probably should. It's a minor gripe but the major campaign differences between Sonic and Knuckles was one of my favorite things about S3K.

If you liked the Genesis Sonic games, it's worth buying. A great game overall, but we'll need more time to be able to honestly tell how it ranks up compared to the other 2D Sonic's

I completed S3K with all super emeralds for the first time at the weekend to commemorate. Now give me tips on doing the same for Sonic 2 because fuck the half pipe.

a solid 3/10

Yeah I stopped reading when you brushed off the complaints of other people before launching into your totally valid take on the game. Fuck yourself you self-important idiot.

Did you guys start the totinos and chili dog party yesterday? Fuckkk I was at work

>complete flying battery zone 2
>zero transition into press garden

really made me think. lizuka you fucked the flow of this game you fool, should of just been pure new levels with all transitions

The level designs and art is exponentially improved from the originals. If you are a fan of the classic Sonic games you DESERVE to play it man. Trust me.

Tfw your reaction times are faster than they were 20 years ago thanks to endlessly playing children's party games

So the Starposts are kinda bugged in a good way. If you activate one it de-activates all the others in the act. I was grinding out Blue Spheres between the first 2 checkpoints in GHZ1 last night.

>OK TIER
>Mirage Saloon
The only issue is it is too short, everything else is 10/10

The boss alone makes up for anything

>WAHHHH WHY DOES HYDROCITY COME AFTER STARDUST SPEEDWAY WHAT ABOUT THE GEOGRAPHY OF THE SONIC WORLD
if it's self-importance to think that this kind of behaviour is autistic, then I guess I'm as self-important as they come

>Unlockable Debug mode
Emerald hunting just got way way easier

Act 1 brings down the entire level by a lot, compared to the others it's definitely on the lower end

Play as knuckles then

Why the fuck did I have to find a nice stranger to translate a Japanese manual to find out the name of a major plot device of both Mania and Forces.

WTF Taxman.

because you are too autistic to find someone with the english digital manual
they are the same....

how can I replay levels

is it autism

I hope everyone is done wanking to Green Hill nostalgia.

best sonic thus far

murrica does what japan don't

Transitions are important to some people, getting to play Sonic with friends who aren't local is important to some people, unlockable characters like Amy or Metal are important to some people. You can't just dismiss the wants of everything that doesn't appeal to you specifically and throw the blanket of autism over everything you deem unimportant. That is an egocentric bitch boy attitude and you don't deserve to be validated for it.

The boss looks pretty terrible. Most of the HBHs, that one in particular, look like they're meant to be act 1 bosses, if even that.

It's got a great layout in Mania, but with it could have easily had any other coat of paint on it and been 10x better

I don't have the console version so I didn't know, I only knew about the Japanese Sonic Channel manual.

pleace !

>he doesn't reaction tech chases the hard boiled heavies

Iggy Ishi Diggy Shiggy Diggy

>unlockable characters like Amy or Metal are important to some people
Not that user but people who legitimately thought Amy or Metal would be unlockable are retarded. The very first trailer said three playable characters, there was never even any slight little indication there would be more and it is well known that classicautists generally want to keep the roster to the holy trifecta of Sonic-Tails-Knuckles. Anybody disappointed by their lack of inclusion was brainwashed by Rosy shitposting and should feel bad

So how do you get into the Level Select/Sound Test?

Level select works like Sonic 3: Beat the game and then you can select levels from your completed save file.

I came.

In a game like this with fanservice as far as you can see and known unlockable content, it's not too much to hope for an unspoken character of some sort. Especially since Mania is emulating games from an area when hidden characters and rumors of hidden characters ran rampant.

How do I play levels over

>can't make a good game without directly copying and pasting the original

It's great, but it's great because people like the first game. 50% good game 50% nostalgia jerk off sim.

Yeah, I'm kinda tired of Green Hill. Besides, I imagine a lot of people are like me and got into Sonic after Sonic Tuesday, when Sonic 2 came packed in with the Model 2 Genesis. Where's my Emerald Hill?

youtube.com/watch?v=QCr0oClZ9lg

>50% nostalgia jerk off sim

you're wercome firthy gaijin

No not that.

The hidden menu level select with sound test. All the classic Sonics have them

I've seen Green Hill Zone so many times that it isn't even nostalgic anymore. It's a good stage in this one, but it does nothing for me.
