I started Old Hunters on NG+, what am i getting myself into?

I started Old Hunters on NG+, what am i getting myself into?

Bump

Want to know this aswell

into a nightmare

Yeah I wanted to know if you're supposed to beat the vanilla game before starting the DLC, also if that applies to Nioh.

I fought Vicar Amelia and it took forever to kill her and even with 2 summons it took forever, even the regular enemies give hard time, i'm worried that the Old Hunters bosses on NG+ are too hard

Hell.

while you can enter it after Amelia, I recommend playing it on NG when all you've got left to do is Nightmare of Mensis, the enemies in TOH have too much health (still doable, but annoying at parts)

and remember, kids, no matter what the memesters say, always have a +10 Saw Cleaver handy for when you try another weapon and it's, once again, a failure outside of specific encounters, so you can run back to the saw cleaver and clear the content

>even with 2 summons
gee i wonder why

What do you expect? An ass raping. Old hunters is tough being only SL80 on NG

Yes, you will get fucked up

I can tell you refuse to git gud and just stick to the orthodox
>Don't do the content too early
>Only the most base and balanced weapon is good

you do you user but real niggas go fight ludwig with a +5 kirkhammer

A DLC pack for the video game Bloodborne (2015, Japan Studio, From Software) that features new areas to explore, weapons and boss fights.

I have zero frame of reference for how difficult it is MEANT to be, because I was severely overleveled. Like lvl 95 on NG when I played. And I still got my shit handed to me. Mostly by a flaming faggot optional boss whose name I won't spoil. So I recommend being an even higher level than that.

Badass new weapons and armor, though.

I fought ludwig at lvl 60 with a sawspear+5.
Am I a real nigga?

>starting weapon is the best weapon in the game
What was From thinking?

Saw spear>cleaver

Common enemies hit like trucks, big alien hammer dudes, bloodticks, bullshit npc fights, rape library, rape village, winter lanterns, Street Sharks, and every bossfight is hard as fuck.

Should i then just play it on NG? I have character that is level 30

Tough, but doable. If you're going straight in post Vicar Amelia, expect to be fucked very hard in the mouth early on while you adjust to every other enemy being a hunter. Once you get adjusted to them and the Cthulu fucks it's not so bad, and I really don't remember struggling with any of the bosses. I think I started around level 85 or so.

There is one area in particular which is you versus three hunters simultaneously, and it's some serious goddamn bullshit. Only time in the entire game that I resorted to a cheese to pick them off one by one.

They give you the option early but you should really wait until you're almost done with the main story. Like another user said, somewhere around nightmare of mensis

I'm a fucking moron, please disregard. I just remembered that the 1v3 encounter is in the core game and not the DLC. The part I'm thinking of involves sharks in a well instead.

part of the fun for me is trying out different stuff, part of the fun is having the best shit at my disposal so I can whip it out and destroy anything

I just wish From knew how to better balance out weapons, the Saw Cleaver is too safe while outdpsing everything

as for doing the content on the most appropriate chance, well, you can rush almost wherever you want after killing Amelia, I'm just saying what's the easiest/most convenient path, if you feel like it you can make the game as hard as you want

feels like they didn't even test the different weapons in the game

they felt the same but the spear had less damage, so idk

Hope you aren't an ARC build :^)

anyone wanna play, ima get the DLC this week but ive just started ng+ :D

Spear has serrated damage bonus in both forms and scales with Skill which boosts visceral damage

>serrated damage bonus
doesn't the saw cleaver have that?

when did they make the starting weapon the beasthunter saif

Prepare to be frustrated beyond belief. I started the DLC about a year after I stopped playing and had completely forgotten I was on NG++ already (found out by counting the clothing items I had repeated). Ludwig was a nightmare to beat, I stopped playing the game a year ago because of that. Yesterday I picked it up again and I had to use two summons to bring that motherfucker down. I got through Maria and the Living Failures quite easily, Laurence was manageable, now I'm at the Orphan of Kos.

TL;DR: if you get past Ludwig, you got this. Use the pizza cutter.

Only in untransformed mode.
The saw spear has thrust damage, quicker sweeping crowd control moves (transformed r1 instead of r2) and higher multipliers on the transformed r1s. The saw spear also gets higher damage if you have capped str/skl. I like both, but the saw spear is superior in a lot of ways. The cleaver just gets higher damage on a str focused build or arcane build, which makes it a great candidate for arcane or bolt conversion so you can have a fire spear (serration in both modes for more beast brutality).

thanks m8, I'll try using the SS next run, it's really quick to obtain it by going to the sewers, too

I tried the pizza cutter, I had a ton of str on that playthrough, and even after leveling it to +10 it was garbage, dealing less damage than the saw cleaver and the HMS, while being slower, what's the point?

ARC is so fucking good. If you grab the fire gem early from the bottom of cathedral workshop and slap it on a saw cleaver you will shred through beasts, and like the first half of the game is pretty much all beast bosses. Then grab Tonitrus for Rom and ayylmaos. Also, Hunter Tools and Cauliflower.

Have you tried equipping better runes? I upgraded it to +10 and I use the continuous cutting attack to chip off the health. I like it, the charged attack is also great to stun Ludwig and Kos.

of course I tried different runes, and I did try the L2 as well as fully charged R2s, all of the moveset was disappointing

the only heavy weapon that actually dealt enough damage for me to even consider using it was the wheel, stunlocked the fuck out of everything while being rad as fuck (you can rev it up to 3 times after you trick it up, and it'll start draining your life faster and faster), and even then, only against regular enemies, against bosses it'd be suicide

You have to keep the wheels in motion on the pizza cutter before you notice a difference, but it's a huge fucking difference if you keep it applied to a boss and don't let the wheel stop. It takes a while to get adjusted to, but it's a fantastic boss-specialty weapon once you get the hang of it. If you're just doing normal swing attacks with it you're missing the entire point of the weapon, and yeah, it kind of sucks then.

it was spinning though, I know it because the damage kept going up even after hitting the boss, and it was still disappointing damage, maybe there's another trick on top of that?

>ARC is so fucking good
Yeah, I know, just not as good in the dlc. Everything resists the fuck out of elemental damage there.

BEASTHUNTER SAIF
CHURCH PICK
PIZZA CUTTER
why are the weapons of this dlc so fucking godlike ?

How good is the hms?
It feels really outclassed by all my pure phys weapons.
In case you are wondering.
30 str
13 skill
23 arc

it's going to be rough goings
you better have 50 VIT and / or know how to dodge

You need to put nourishing gems on it. It's really strong, especially the charge and special attacks. The #1 amygdala EZ mode weapon, just moon beam the head.

moveset is fucking great, damage-wise it's ok, and sometimes it's great depending on the enemy, it's probably one of the best weapons against crowds, specially the untransformed R1s

Hard, but doable. try to be at least level 90.

HMS is hands down the most impressive looking weapon in the game. In terms of usefulness, the R1 attacks are pretty bad (esp untricked) but the heavy hitting R2 and L2 attacks do extreme damage at the cost of a bullet. The untricked moveset is best for its R2 attack where you just poke repeatedly. Untricked R2 is really fucking effective in PvE and breaks the poise of even the biggest enemies at the cost of very little stamina. Untricked charged R2 and its followup are really good too.

Every time I help someone coop a boss with it, I keep doing jumping (sometimes 2x) / running / charged beam-attacks, and when we win at the end the person just repeatedly points at me like "You..." or applauds or cowers or does some other gesture basically meaning "you are fucking awesome." For that reason it is my favorite weapon.

VIT 50
END 40
STR 50
SKL 55
BLT 12
ARC 40

Fight me

>55 skill

Aside from chikage and rakuyo what really needs skill ?

C A N E

Church pick, saif, saw spear. All great weapons btw

Oh yeah true, completely forgot it, i'm more of a church pick guy

Ludwig and Orphan will be a true hunter's nightmare
The other bosses are alright

I can't defeat Rom, am I retarded?

A little bit, try not to lock on so you can keep an eye on Rom when he makes his attacks
Learn his attacks so you know what hes doing
kill the spiders
hit him
rinse and repeat

Yes. How does he kill you?

Really good dlc for the best game From's ever made

>not sticking to your primary weapon

heh, behind you kid

No, I had difficulties with him too on my first playthrough
Try to ignore the spiders and just hit him as hard as you can until he changes position
If you get enough damage him you can stagger him btw

visceral atk damage

I recently beat BB for the first time
And now I'm doing a brand new save file mostly to prepare for the DLC content, because people always say the Old Hunters is too hard on NG+ for the first time
Does The Old Hunters ever go on sale?

I don't know what the fuck your doing wrong but with 50 str at +10 and decent gems I was doing almost 700dmg. One of the hardest hitting weapons in the game.
