20 years later and this is still the best looking game of the 4th gen.
20 years later and this is still the best looking game of the 4th gen
It's pretty great.
Because the 4th gen is over and no new games are being made for it?
Comfy as fuck.
I especially like the secret comfy areas which are so comfy that you could live there. Pic related. You suspect nothing, then you go down the pipe and suddenly you are in a beautiful area surrounded by waterfalls.
The world simply feels coherent and lively. Like a real island with tons of stuff and creatures. It doesn't feel like a chore to go through like in other games. It's more of a sight-seeing tour.
Everything in that game fits. The music, the artstyle, the humor (For example when the frog shat out Yoshi). It's a master piece. It also has a lot of replayability.
Why you ask?
This. It's amazing. It has a very good difficulty too.
Why the hell would you butcher the visuals in this way?
>filters
>20 years later and this is still the best looking game of the 4th gen.
Why should it change? The 4th gen is over.
Only 3d games age like milk.
Oh look it's that meme again.
>yoshiclan.mp3
I will never understand why this pile of shit is so popular. SMW is superior in every way.
>20 years later and this is still the best game of the 4th gen
Fixed
Came here to see if rebuttal.
>there is none
Son, I am please.
A shame it isn't a good game.
>world map music
>each new area adds to the music
Yes, because every single game in the 4th gen had access to the second iteration of the SuperFX chip.
>someone's calling me out on my retardation
>better call him a memer
Most filters are disgusting and butcher the intended aesthetics of a game. Of all the halfway tasteful filters available, you post a screenshot everything smudged like it's being viewed through a window that hasn't been cleaned in years. Shading takes a huge hit as similar colors get grouped together to further remove detail and what should be smooth lines become jagged messes. They say art is the reflection of a person's soul and if you think this looks good your inner self must be a festering heap of shit
Not even the best looking on snes
Yep, the soundtrack was great too.
Well good thing you don't have to play it and in turn I don't have to play the original. Freedom is a beautiful concept, right? You anti-filterfags would probably scream at people in restaurants because they ordered the "objectively" inferior wood, because how can someone like onion if you hate it?
But let's look at pic related. Right one is what OP posted. Only a delusional nostalgiafag would think it looks better. I'm not very fond of edges. They remind me of MSpaint to much. Just compare the mountains. Which one look uglier?
And your theory that pixels are lost isn't even fucking true. Look at the red circle. EVERY single pixel is fucking there.
Filters just make the game look a lot nicer.
food* not wood

you should be
Different user, I'll be honest I'm fine with filters. I am however, against the use of hqxx / eagle on Yoshi's Island. It was designed to look like it was drawn with pencil - not smoothed out.
A nice NTSC filter would be good.
>Use the latest tech possible in the 4th gen SNES catalog
>Stills gets BTFO in sales by DKC2
According to your logic the newest Call of Duty or Candy Crush game is the best game ever made.
No, because DKC2 despite not being top-notch in terms of graphics is still as good in that department as Yoshi Island. The sprite detail and the backgrounds are beautiful also.
The filters are not the problem. Stretching a 4:3 to 16:9 is.
Stop praising DKC2 or I might start playing it again from scratch for 20 minutes only to get stuck in that level with the many barrels and thorns.
