Opening scene has major spoiler

How is it a spoiler if it's coming from the game itself?
>ending scene has major spoiler
>Each mission gives away "surprise" enemies you'll be facing in the opening credits.
Yeah sure is great.
Fate on the Vita does this.
>trailer has a major spoiler
this is happening in movies AND video games nowadays i mean wtf is this bullshit
>Boxart has a major spoiler in it.
>replay game
>notice all of the foreshadowing
Got some examples?
I don't understand why they do that.
Prey
Trailers showed you that breaking your glass panel balcony reveals it's all fake
That fucking twist would've really got me and shocked me but that fucking trailer.
none off the top of my head, it's probably more on the movie end rather than video game end
pretty sure mgsV trailer spoils shit in it
and to answer the question it's to build hype and garner more viewers/players
>TV commercial indirectly has a spoiler in it.
that's horrible
seriously what the fuck was kojima thinking?
Dark Souls.
>spoilers in a game where the whole story is derived from lore
huh?? i mean spoiling bosses, yeah it's guilty as fuck but what are you talking about specifically
Yeah, spoiling bosses mostly. Just look at Ashes of ariandel trailers. They show every boss stage and it is horrible.
>fighting the skulls when you've invested all your money into pacifist items
ah yeah the dlc trailers suck ass
>The Colonel A.I. fucking his speech up every once in a while through MGS2's Plant Mission
I know this is an old post, but let me respond to it seriously.
A game can spoil itself. A "spoiler" is information that someone doesn't want to know about. Trailers, box art, etc. are all very common sources of spoilers because they are usually divorced from the original writer of the story or creator of the content; however, authors can also be complete fuckups and spoil things themselves ahead of time. When done properly, this is foreshadowing, but when done poorly it's just them being incompetent. There are plenty of instances of writers giving away things too early. Regardless of that, I'm sure you can agree that trailers, opening movies, and all that kind of thing very readily spoil content despite coming from the game. The game does in fact spoil itself.
>trailer is basically the whole movie
I mean I guess it succeeded in getting me hyped thinking it had more to offer. Thanks, Law Abiding Citizen
>ending scene reveals that the bad guy was the bad guy all along
>game menu has tips about or options for things you can do that aren't supposed to be revealed until much later
Yeah I don't know either. I'm sure some cool user will come by and explain that
>you're just a fucking retard, it's to build the expense because then you're just wondering when will they show up
Even though in reality all it did was take away the possibility for me to actually be surprised by what enemies were in the mission.
>Pokemon trailers
>And more Aloan Pokemeon to come!
>It was literally just the Geodude line
>opening trailer tries to "subtly" show how a main character gets killed
WEISS
YOU DUMBASS
In Xenoblade Chronicles. I was doing a massive amount of sidequests and found an item that basically spoilered the *robot resurrection*. I was kinda upset.
What are both Niers
>opening movie literally shows every single major event and character death
What the fuck was Taro thinking. Automata wasn't as bad, but if you payed attention you could probably piece together what was going to happen.
Is that the one with the Blacksmith's daughter.
>trailer plays if you idle on the title screen
>has tons of spoilers in it
>After a short bit into the game it does a flashback
>Game then attempts to create tension by putting characters you saw pre-flashback in "danger"
>trailer is basically the best part of the game
>actually game isnt even Finished
you feel it too dont you?
I was going to say either MGS2 or Final Fantasy VII are my favorite examples of this.
>Tifa's behavior whenever Cloud is narrating a segment in the past
Ocarina of Time did this but the spoilers didn't mean anything without context
FUCKING ZOE 2
