What is good about Sonic games ? I bought Mania because I hadn't played a 2d sonic in about 20 years and wanted to see what I thought about it
>game is based on speed >yet you are punished for going fast by trial and error levels to learn what not to hit >some parts you have to walk, which is awful >level design is great but you can't enjoy it because of speed >boses are boring
You are rewarded with speed for being good and knowing the level.
Evan Nelson
Older games like Sonic were made to be replayable. They're only a few hours long but you can play it at least 4 different ways.
Julian Thomas
Okay on some real shit the games aren't for everyone but classic sonic is unique in how it has a more arcade like approach to how it handle it's levels as they're replayable for finding paths and secrets with a new gimmick here and there to add a bit of freshness has flaws for sure but it's more respectable than unfocused shit like the Adventure games
John Perry
move at accelerated pace
Gavin Garcia
nice take and not at all boring and derivative bait
Carson Martin
>best Sonic game comes out in years >butthurt haters come out of the woodwork to try and push the "Sonic was never good" meme some more I guess it sucks to be wrong.
Chase Russell
I've always found it incredibly frustrating. You go fast and do a loop then you're going the wrong way and you fall into god knows where. I've also hated platformers that slide your character around, like they've gained a bunch of momentum from walking a step forward.
Austin Clark
>mfw seeing the boss for Chemical Plant >mfw unlocking it as a bonus mode
Eli Richardson
>game is based on speed No it isn't, retard. Stop believing that Sonic is 'just' speed because of 90s marketing. It's a platforming game that allows the player to go fast if they're good at the game.
Jacob Foster
Arin, go back on twitter eating your words.
Chase Thomas
Speed is marketing gimmick, sonic was designed to be marketable before anything else. the game isn't actually about speed it's about controlling momentum, Sonic Mania is first game to do this right, Sonic Mania is best Sonic game.
Nathaniel King
>game is about speed >people think fast is the only speed that exists Do you play racing games and get mad when you're punished for never letting go of the acceleration?
John Gutierrez
In a racing game you can see what's coming, in Sonic you literally can't react fast enough to most obstacles, especially not on 4:3 displays.
Parker Baker
user, he actually liked it.
Jaxson Taylor
Yeah, aka eating his words.
Ayden Reed
most people should like it, Sonic has been at such a low for so long that this game being the literal best Sonic is enough to change people's perspectives, maybe Forces is like a ringer for Mania 2.
Lucas Myers
Wrong. You just suck and have shit reaction time reinforced by years of babby goo goo gaga games. I ended my Mania rub with fucking 52 LIVES, faggot. 52 lives, and I was routinely gathering 200 plus rings per stage and getting lives via points from finishing the levels quickly. Don't ever play anything from classic Konami, it'd hurt your feelings.
Dominic Baker
>The only thing really enjoyable is the music
Congratulations, you figured out the entire Sonic franchise.
Brandon Parker
>hurr durr I can't see this was only a problem in the originals because they were 4:3. Reaction time is increased with the addition of widescreen. Not even your god Arin Hanson agrees with you anymore
