Holy shit

Holy shit

I just completed this, and it's legitimately one of the best stories I've ever seen in a videogame

How the FUCK was it so good despite literally EVERYTHING being against it

Every aspect of the story was so perfectly paced I can't believe it even exists

>Tries to be funny
>It is
>Tries to be emotional
>It is

The Rhys and Sasha romance is the best I've seen in a game

>telltale """"games""""

The writing had some okay points but still I want actual vidya

prove that it's funny.

>they managed to make the memeruined borderlands universe interesting

Maybe it's just me but I don't see what's wrong with an interactive story. You couldn't have told that story in an action game.

It actually makes it into a universe that's genuinely interesting. I hope whoever wrote this is in charge of BL3. If that ever happens.

How do you prove that something is funny

it was good because emotional moments actually feel emotion, like when scooter died, so much build up and it didn't took the "he actually survived" shit trope most games do.
Not sure about you but the distortion in the storytelling of Rhys and Fiona were some of my favorites.
The world was always interesting, is just that they completely ruined with a convoluted plot that made no sense and rancid memes that even 9gag wouldn't touch.
The caustic caverns had some of the more interesting lore IMO

actually feel emotional*

Anyone else bummed they couldn't rule Hyperion with Jack and had no option but to betray him? Anyone hoping he comes back?

that game was so fucking good

i'm happy you played your first """videogame""" OP

They did a great job making you regret it if you tell loaderbro to self-destruct

Ironic how it's both the only Gearbox game worth playing, AND the only Tell-Tale game worth playing

>[Step 3]

I think it was a good Borderlands game because Gearbox didn't make it.

Wolf Among Us is worth playing

This is seriously one of the best plot twists in all of vidya. It was so obvious, but I didn't see it coming at all.

Telltale will never surpass it

Shame the earliest we will get the sequel will be a year from now

Can't wait for the sequel that's coming out next year

by posting something from it that's funny

Legitimately one of my favourite vidya, I already was a fan of the other games despite their flaws but this game really captured all the themes and wonders the other games hit so mediocerly

I feel bad for the gearbox writer that wrote all the Borderlands lore that was ignored and overwritten by wacky writing.

The fact there was no claptrap in Tales was a really good decision. Also loaderbot best bro, and gortys and loaderbot was the best romance.

What the fuck happened to Rhys and Fiona honestly they better not fuck it up.

I found most of loader bot scenes funny, but I could also see how someone wouldn't. I really liked post ironic bro fist scene too.

There's no sequel for this. It was canned even during production, it was finished by a skeleton crew. Art through adversity.

Post vault team picks

>August
>Cassius
>Athena

Mfw at the end of the game it shows over 90% of people picked Athena

Loaderbot had the best lines. Partly because of the delivery.

>Why is Rhys talking to himself?
>HE'S GOING THROUGH A LOT OF THINGS RIGHT NOW

Whoever voices loaderbot deserves more pay.

Same but with zero instead of august

>is just that they completely ruined with a convoluted plot that made no sense and rancid memes that even 9gag wouldn't touch.

I haven't played the pre-sequel, but why is this a meme for borderlands? 1 and 2 were mildly memey at worst. The plots were pretty direct, too.

hating BL is a meme in itself, and is the only reason I think people say this kind of shit. Or maybe it was the Pre that did all this garbage, but people don't say that. They say "lol bl is memes pitchford is sjw"

>Every aspect of the story was so perfectly paced

nigga come on

i love the game but the final series was paced like shit. it's very noticeable it was rushed.

Honestly I really liked the pre sequel it had much less ridiculous shit than 2, looked amazing on Xbox one, and was an overall pretty fun game to play. Fucking low g double jumping is the best game mechanic they could've added.

>Telltale will never surpass it
And sadly they'll apparently never try, as supposedly Tales wasn't a failure, but it wasn't a big enough success that they intend to do any more. Reading about it, they were fucking with the crew on Tales before it was done because they've taken on too many projects and wanted to move people to the others. It was a miracle Tales even got finished.

Most of the reason it's getting so much praise recently is because everyone got it free on PS4

>The fact there was no claptrap in Tales was a really good decision.
Oh, no, he was in it. You just had to make two very specific choices for the chance of him showing.

>The Rhys and Sasha romance
I never liked it and it was forced down my throat at every opportunity. It was the only real blemish on the game.

I was hoping to find a path where I could change him a little bit into not the worst person in the galaxy. I wasn't disappointed with how it turned out, though.

>that part where Jack begs you to let him live, saying there's nothing after death
Felt bad for a second, but fuck him.

Sasha a cute

In an actual human being way too, not just waifu bait.

It wasn't until just before the reveal that I figured it out. I spent all of the first several chapters trying to work it out, and couldn't.

What happens if during the ending fight you kill and piss off everyone who could have helped you? Is it even possible?

i played it free on PS+ and i really didn't see what everyone was shitting bricks over, did not seem better or worse than any average telltale game. Wolf Among Us and TWD S1 are still the only good games they've ever made.

That's certainly the case for me. I'd seen Sup Forums singing it's praises in the past, which was really surprising since it was A) A Borderlands game B) A Telltale game, so I figured it probably was good. But I've played way too many bad Telltale games to waste my money on another one, so it wasn't until it was free that I bothered with it.

>"funny"
>"romance"

are you fucking serious? if your bar is this low i cannot even fathom your top 5 favorite games

I would say Ep 5 was kinda meh. I don't really like revival arcs in stories.

...

August
Athena
Zer0

Zer0 was god damn great.

why would anyone tell him to blow up. as soon as i saw it i knew obviously they want you to send him away so he comes back to the story later. had they presented it in such a way where both options were ambiguous about him getting killed or not, that might have been an emotional moment.

but no it's literally "do you like this character? if so, divert them from danger, or you can kill them off"

The forest part was good. It made you care about the characters, even Athena, who was just dude dyke lmao in the other games.

episode 5 was legit the only interesting part though. the only major choices in the game are basically who you put on the giant robot crew, and whether you saved Felix (in order to afford hiring Claptrap).

>How the FUCK was it so good despite literally EVERYTHING being against it?

Because pic related didn't write it

Also, have you thanked your personal deity today, that you're not Anthony Burch?

He was on the writing team according to the games credits

Reminder that it didnt sold enough and we will never see a season 2

Redpill me on Anthony Burch

>Rhys and Sasha
Why the fuck would you go for Sasha and not her superior sister?

Sashas younger

It was alright, but the entire thing just feels like it's recovering from episode 3 nearly killing it. Just barely making it at the end. Also Jack better be canon dead and not even indirectly mentioned in BL3, they had three games to explain the one aspect of his character that was actually interesting and didn't. Whatever it was, I don't care anymore. Life's full of opportunity and this one was missed. Move on.

He's a turbocuck and his wife took the Wii U when they divorced

I was always interested in borderlands world
Specifically the gun companies the origin of sirens, and they're connection to the vaults

He wrote episode 3 which is why the momentum dies there and the last two episodes are a desperate scramble to get it back.

Fuck off, Randy.

But Fiona's hotter.

not unless you buy and play my BADASS games

>You can't side with him
I'm still sad

How would he know?
Its not like A.I. even knew he was dead when you first meet him

He was probably lying as a last ditch effort to stop Rhys from deleting him.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean death, but the state of being "inactive", as in, apart of the cybernetics but not being in any state through which he can interact with the world.

Fuck telltale

>that power rangers final battle
>that LOL IM SO RANDOM AND SAY FUCK A LOT aHaha Claptrap

I like TT games but fucking holy shit that final part was so fucking stupid, and that randytrap WAS SO BADASS amirite?

This man gets it. Sasha is a silver medal.

I finished the first two or three episodes and it was just awful. Please everyone stop having different opinions from me, thanks.

>like when scooter died, so much build up
Oh come the fuck on nigger, schooter dead was completely bullshit they killed a great character for shock value, i enjoyed the game but dont come and tell me that that fuckign random dead for "reason" was built at all fuck off

Are there any other telltale games - or games generally - that have the same atmosphere? That sort of mix of comedy with good characters and pathos?

>for shock value

No they killed him off because he was dying as a voice actor IRL and they wanted to end his character with a bang instead of having him disappear for no reason.

Really? I thought it was pretty well written, and certainly better than making Fiona be the love interest.

I self inserted as Rhys though and Sasha was too cute not to.

Can't deal with retards

Those intros to music were fuggin great

This. The whole corporations/magic/vaults thing is actually genuinely interesting.

It could have been a TV show and would have worked.

It should have been a TV show.

I love that speak

It's the only good telltale game

Wolf among us

I love your speak

The Wolf Among Us annoyed me actually. I played those episodically and the rewrite was so clear that it ruined the story.

Thx

Well try Sam and Max

i guess maybe i should finish this one

QTEs are not fun

I actually "played" this instead of just watching it on youtube and ended up wishing I had since as usual, none of your choices matter and half of your button presses don't matter since so many ofthe qtes can't be failed

I know Rhys and Fiona were both main characters, but did anyone else feel like Rhys was the real main character?

He had the best arc. In fact, fuck, lots of the characters had arcs. That on its own is better than 90% of vidya stories.

I liked your picture, thanks for posting it

Minecraft Story Mode

Please don't post bait

>That soundtrack

>The best telltale games are the ones where nobody gives a fuck about the IP

Why don't they learn that freedom is what makes them make good shit

IPs make them money

what's IP?

Intellectual property

The interaction is so token it barely qualifies. If you want to consume a story, then read a book or watch a fucking movie.

>hating BL is a meme in itself
>hating a shitty, boring garbage game is a meme
