The devs are so delusional, they think they can make a pserver become as big as the original maplestory back in 05. They want to patch things as slowly mapleglobal patched things. I think they said they didn't want cash shop out for months after launch.

Maplestory is a fucking shit game. It's literally a non-game.

You sit there and hold one attack button and kill the same enemies for millions of years, fucking grinding the same fucking stupid shit. Party quests are literally the same.

The only fun part is that you can stop and talk to random people as a distraction from the grind and they'll usually respond. It's not a fun fucking game. At all.

Nah there's decent MMOs out there. Maplestory aint it, but it's the game you realize is shit and then move onto actually decent things.

Name two good MMOs without significant flaws that ruin them, or name two good MMOs with a sense of community, good skill based gameplay and the ability to affect the world around you and become a legend in the eyes of other players.

Vindictus and PSO2, two games with enjoyable combat with a lot of flexibility and impact to them, as well as bosses and raids that actually feel intense. If you were to discredit my choices with something like

I level up so fucking quickly in reboot that I feel that I'm not properly geared at all or missing very good equips from scenarios/dungeons/PQs. It's frustrating

you basically don't have to put effort into gearing til you're like level 150, you can just put stuff on from the mobs you're fighting

Does the private server have all these people in bathrobes? That''s one thing I hated from old Maplestory. I had to gimp myself cause I liked the armors better.

project beta doesn't have bathrobes, just sauna robes which are one time only from a quest. so if you ruin it you're screwed, and will probably have to use reg armor or spend quite a bit to buy a new one off someone else. Old maple had way less pressure on minmaxing. The servers been out for close to a month, but they just got 100% scrolls a few days ago. Many people just used clean weapons.

the thing is I want to use regular armor not sauna robes. I refused to use them before. It's why I actually liked the change to one stat. No more people running around in those ugly robes.

thieves are the only ones that really "need" the sauna robe. were you planning to play thief?

Sauna robes were popular because of dexless/strless/lukless class builds. Better off with regular armor if you're not willing to spend billions on 10%-60% scrolls.

Let's break this down.

Warriors use Strength and Dex
Strength Determines Damage, Dex determines Accuracy.
Because you only need a base level of accuracy to hit everything, you can hit that accuracy level with a Zakum Helmet/Purple Wisconsin, and scroll a bathrobe instead.

Mages use Intelligence and Luck
Intelligence determines damage, Luck determines fucking nothing. Literally nothing.
Because of this, you are better off wearing equipment that doesn't require luck to wear, and that equipment is the bathrobe!

Thiefs use Dex and Luck
Luck determines damage, Dex determines accuracy
It's the same idea as warriors. They're going to use the fucking bathrobe.

Unsure about Bowmen honestly. I think they use both stats because Strength is required to use their bows? Or maybe not? I'm unsure.

Essentially, the devs spent FOREVER designing tons of unique class specific armors, but all of them are shittier than just the common equipment that works for all classes at low levels. In conclusion: LOL

Strength is needed for bows, but doesn't actually add any damage. Archers are very limited for maximum optimization.

if you choose to play project beta, or maple global, bathrobes don't exist. (just the sauna robe which you can't buy)

warriors can get a lvl 30 robe from the perion store for 70k, that comes with 3 dex on it and has no dex req. so no sauna robe needed. (also purple wisconsin doesn't exist, and zakum will be the end game boss. nobody will fight him on proj beta for a long time)

for mages on a beta server, i believe some people calculated that it would be best to go low luk based on what weapons are available in such an old version. If you really wanted to, you could just add 15 luk just to wear the lowest level mage robe. it would be much easier to scroll a good nooby mage robe for luk or int than a sauna since you can just buy them for 7k at the ellinia store.

For bowmen, they have lvl 50+ overalls available with no str req so you can just use those.

Also, female thieves have a lvl35 overall that comes with dex, so a sauna robe isn't really needed there either.

The only characters that really need a sauna robe, are male thieves. Since that's the only overall they can wear.

On a v40b server like project beta, a secondary statless build like dexless sins isn't viable since maple weapons don't exist, and it's so hard to scroll your stuff. it's 10%, 60%, 100% scrolls only (and 100% dex doesn't exist). No dark scrolls, and no overall str scrolls either (sucks a bit for bowmen).

It's usually v62+ servers like royals and legends that have a ton of people running around in bathrobes. But on a v40b server most people won't be running around in sauna robes since it either isn't worth it for the class, or because someone ruined theirs and can't find someone to sell them another one.

Ignoring the project beta, Magicians are probably gonna have the roughest time 1st job in a v1 start due to the luk requirement. They're gonna be stuck with shitty energy bolt until they max Improved Maximum MP, MP pots are gonna cost a ton and cant get magic guard right away unless you want your attack to be neutered for awhile.

It's a really solid game, im 8 hours in, its surprising good.

Your character gains an extra 1 mp for every 10 int they have. either from base stat or equips. Every class has a minimum mp limit they can reach. The goal of hp washing is to level up with a bunch of int so you can get a ton of extra mp. Then use ap resets to reduce mp and increase hp. This way, you gain higher hp than normal, but you don't sacrifice any damage since you didn't just pump points into hp which would cause you lose out on str, dex, luk. It's mostly used to survive at bosses more easily by tanking hits.

You should try out Thunder Breaker, Corsair, Evan, Blaster, or Zero. Especially Blaster, that fucking class is a one-way ticket to RSI city and macros are almost a necessity for high-tier play due to how fast and accurate your inputs have to be.
Thunder Breaker is great though, uses at least 2 different skills in succession at all times with loads of combo potential for movement and spacing.

Reboot is especially autistic. This is coming from someone with a lot of time spent in there and multiple characters with ranges in the millions.
You need to have weapon's grade autism to achieve anything higher than 2mil range on Reboot. Meso farming is no fucking joke, it's a full time job.

Blasters have permanently been at the absolute top of the DPS charts since they were introduced, but nobody plays them (except for illegits - they're literally a hacker's wet dream) because they're so difficult.
If I were to lose 3 fingers in a freak woodshop accident, I would still be able to count on one hand the amount of high-tier legitimate Blaster mains there are in Reboot
