They're not very good games.
1 is so of it's time it's crazy, shit felt dated 2 months after it came out.
2 is definitely more playable, but somehow an even smaller percentage of the game is enjoyable than 1.
The story and characters, well, the less said about them the better.
All that said, I kind of like them ironically.
