What do you want to see in FFXVI?
I want it to return to its roots, a more medieval fantasy world instead of a futuristic setting, i also want the game to be more traditional instead of action focused.

I just want jobs and to be able to control every party member.
Medieval and jobs. If turn based something new and experimental if action based then at least do it right.
Romanceable Ivalice moogles.
I veto romance. Unless it's just part of the story. No choice based romance, keep that autism in bioware games.
Yeah, because having the token romanceable princess that has been a staple of literally every final fantasy ever hasn't been run into the ground yet.
Isekai. 8 playable characters. 4 girls. 4 boys. College sports. Final destination. Nobody leaves the world without getting their balls hit, smacked, tapped, or thrown.
That's fine. Keep it that way. The main dude falls in love with the main girl and otherwise the romance is kept to a minimum. Perfect, never change it.
I want everything XV promised but didn't deliver on.
Turn-based combat like in FFX. No action memes.
Not wanting this to change is more autistic than bioware romance choices. But fine, the princess is now a male Ivalice moogle. Since it's minimal, it's still fine, right? :^)
Nah, you can have two furry side characters romance but they don't get to be main characters.
They never do the same battle system twice. If they're going hard turn based I prefer FF1-3 style than FF10 style. Getting like 6 turns in a row was dumb.
>male
The don't tolerate homosexuality in japan.
Attractive female characters I can play as that are just as cool as Aranea.
>They never do the same battle system twice.
Uh..the ATB system was pretty much unchanged for maybe eight games, aside from neat gimmicks like Desperation Attacks / Limit Breaks / Trances
Nothing except a cancellation of this series.
All that atb really is is the way speed interacts with the game. 1 was preset classes you choose, 2 was saga, 3 was jobs, 4 was preset classes you don't choose, 5 was a new type of job system, 6 was learning magic from espers, 7 was materia, 8 was junction, 9 you learn from gear, 10 was sphere grid.
I think you get the point. ATB is a small aspect of the battle system.
Its doesn't matter what i want, it doesn't matter what they will show because it WILL be shit.
FF is fucked for eternity unless SE outsource it or change the way they make FF games.
Her
>4 man/woman party
>ATB or CTB
>jobs that are a mix of V and XI jobs
>party members follow you around like in VIII, but more dynamically like in XV
>proper graphics (fuck off you BD and similar shit faggots)
>ATE
>minigames (but not pants on head retarded shit like in X)
>main story takes the main chunk of the time again, not like 6 hours
What do you mean by BD?
I want a unique setting not back to roots crap
I dont want XVI. I want XV-2. That doesn't take more than 3 years to develop and is actually amazing and focuses on the bros left behind.
>tfw everyone wants something different
making FF games for you fags gotta be stressful as fuck
>Turn based FF games
>2018
Never ever
>I want everything XV promised but didn't deliver on.
a noctis that was a parody if uchiha sasuke ?!
Well, the thing about FF is that every game should be different. It's why it's such a divisive series.
>Play FFTA
>love the designs, especially moogles
>play FFXII
>they look even more cute
>no playable Moogles, Bangaas or Nu Mous
>only humans and a Viera
Fucking Square Enix
As for topic, I would like to have a new game with multiple classes again, something like FFV or the Tactics games, bonus points if each class gets it's own outfits.
They couldn't remake 9 to be better and that was the love letter to the Final Fantasy universe. It would just be a bastardization.
You know what, I still am not entirely sure if I want XVI or XV-2. Maybe by the time they're done patching and making dlc for XV I'll know. I guess if they went for XV-2 it would make me feel better overall about XV as a whole, and if they go for XVI well, I guess I just don't know what I would want anyway. Maybe they could try doing turn-based combat once more but instead of being bad like XIII they could just make it better than X? Or maybe they could try action combat once more, hopefully having a bit of a better idea on how they want to execute it. What it really comes down to though, is how FF7R will be. I think that's what's really gonna make the decisions from here on.
>le 9 is good maymay
meme game of Sup Forums for furfags.
Gambits.
Medieval with a splash of magitek, ATB/turn-based combat, and a game that focuses itself around a poorly-written plot instead of poorly-written character melodrama.
Character drama is good if you have talented writers that can breathe life into their creations, but it's fucking insufferable if you don't; and SE has been gutterballing that particular 7-10 split since FFVIII. The MMOs are the exception because it's literally impossible to have character-driven stories in titles where the protagonist is a player-generated avatar; and I guess IX as well since it was Sakaguchi's swansong.
What I'd actually like is a return to the PS1 design sensibilities: with 3D character models navigating a large world-map and points of interest with 2D pre-rendered backgrounds, and director-centric development. VIII was a bad game, but it didn't matter so much since the layover periods between VII and IX was only 3 years; now we're enduring 5-10 year dev cycles only to receive absolutely-fucking-unsalvageable garbage for our patience. Give a bunch of up-and-coming developers complete creative control over a small team, give them a 3-4 year dev cycle and a modest budget, and tell them to go nuts; buckshot tactic basically, gives you a higher chance of producing something interesting. And maybe SE will actually discover some new talent this way, instead of having the nebbish Tabata, that shit-eater Toriyama, the incompetent boob Yoshida (FFXIV guy) and the aging+disgraced Nomura be the faces of your company.
Ivalice
XIV but single player in terms of gameplay.
Augmented gambit system for AI companions.
Chrono Cross-level companion recruiting.
Tactics-level jobs amount.
A war between Ivalice Espers (Fantasy theme) and Traditional Primals (Sci-fi theme) where you start the game choosing what side you want to support to encourage replaying as the other side.
Fully modeled skins for all weapons and armor.
IX's ability leveling system.
VIII's junction system for stat boosts.
Materia for magic.
See I'm sure this is just a fantasy. But expectations like this are why people are continually disappointed.
>there are people on Sup Forums right now that actually want a sequel to the garbage that was FFXV
If X of all games could get a sequel then who knows.
I want exactly what you posted.
Just give me a full game of Agni's Philosophy and you can have my fucking money. I'll even buy a fucking console if (>if) there's no PC version.
Seconded
Totally! Its not like every FF tries to be different or anything. You're shits all retarded my man. FF is a series that could continue forever because if they pump out shit, a la FFXV, they can just drop all that crap and start from scratch for the next game. Stop being so goddamn pessimistic.
a good game would be nice for a change
>post yfw 16 is a full retro throwback to the first 6 games complete with ATB and 16 bit sprites/music
32 bit sprites were better honestly. Legend of Mana is still one of the prettiest games ever.
nobody is asking for xv-2 retard.
Everything that will piss off the newgen fans, literally anti-modern FF. I want it to be everything the modern ADHD children hate, so they'll never want to touch FF again.
>no gay boyband shit
>actually has a grind curve
>large endgame of findable cool weapons that are actually relevant and do cool things aside hit stuff
>chocobo breeding system
>turn based static random instanced battles with the ATE system
>Materia system from FF7
>FF8 summon linking to characters or w/e that was
>Nobuo-like sound track
>you have to beat every summon to get them
>old style rustic world with steampunky shit interlaced everywhere for the 100th time because I still love it because FUCK YOU
>NO DLC, no costume packs, no waifufag pandering whatsoever, no powerup shits from cash shops or w/e shits squarenix do now. ONLY 1 expansion, and it has to be a good full expansion
>Bring in a character designer that isn't trying to make some faggoty realism simulator
>Cutscenes ONLY when its relevant to actual plot progression
>no full voice acting whatsoever in cutscenes unless in the battles/field/towns in short bursts. That's ok.
Oh and just to bankrupt squarenix, everycharacter, every scene, dungeon, town, and weapon and summon is hand drawn by sprite artists frame by frame full 60 frames. And it will display this full beautiful sprite work all the time unless its in cutscene. I don't mean half assed like the indie faggots do it, I'm talking full scene animations.
And It'll only be on Nintendo switch because fuck the tasteless modern sony mongrels for fucking up this series by buying games focused on cinematics. Die
BEHOLD
That's not how Sequels work in Final Fantasy, user. FF16 would be the next game, not a Sequel. FF14 isn't a sequel to FF13, FF13-2 was. FF11 wasn't a sequel to FFX, FFX-2 was. I mean I can literally say any followup FF wasn't a sequel to the previous one that didn't already contain the original game's number. New chars, new world every time.
I expect no less from an animeposting faggot though, you can't even bother to stop and think for 5 seconds, you just see a thread and your very first thought is to go shit in it like a fucking animal.
I love that you talk up old school FF and all your shit is from the ps1 era. Your a kid who fancies himself a grandpa.
At least read the thread before posting, you faggots.
I'm talking about a hypothetical FFXV-2, something more direct.
If they do an action RPG battle system again, it needs to be way better than what XV had. I don't understand how Tabata went from Type-0 to this.
I grew up with NES/SNES classics, but I think the Sony generation FF's far surpassed the original titles in every way. I'm 31, get mad, greentext reply, imply.... I dont care. It's on that token I can criticize from my pedestal because it was Squarenix's reliance on the Sony generation that ruined the series.
Make it like a present modern world.
Ivalice, job system, open world, no transition and gambits
Space themed
Next final fantasy should be in 2021 or more. Too long to wait.
I'm in my late 20s and grew up with the nes game as well so I guess I critiqued a little early. I don't really think they peaked with the ps1. 8 was meh and 7 wasn't spectacular either imo. The class system was way more interesting to me.
>I want it to return to its roots, a more medieval fantasy world instead of a futuristic setting
This and an improved version of FFXV's combat
>What do you want to see in FFXVI?
youtube.com
Lighning crossover.
I think XI and XII are among the best but VII, VIII, IX and X are mediocre compared to IV, V and VI and represented a clear decline.
This user had the audacity to ask for furry romance and in the same post chain call others autistic.
This is the current state of Sup Forums and i seriously cannot wait until you fags hang by the rope or are vaporized in nuclear fire.
I'm not gonna try to discredit the early games, I love them dearly. Everything before 10 even, as I'm not even a fan of 10 myself. If anything, I'd rather Squarenix remakes FF5 but doesn't modernize it, but the chances of that happening are nil because the old fans aren't profitable anymore because we don't blindly buy GARBAGE.
Drop the action combat, it'll make the game way too focused on a single character.
Final Fantasy is about a group of character goddammit, a party.
Thread's about FF16, not a sequel to a shit game about being sponsored by Cup Noodle while you're on a roadtrip with your dudebros
I've always liked the idea of controlling one character in a party. I think P3 was the first time I experienced it.
FFXII had a much better system than shitsona 3
I know, but that's what some plebs prefer to be the next FF installment I guess.
You don't only control one character in 12 though.
I bought FFXV during the sale and I've been playing for 10 hours blind (except for the story). What's the Sup Forums consensus? In my opinion, the battle system is a total clusterfuck and sometimes I have no idea whats going on. Other than that, it's fine.
You kinda do though.
>except for the story
There's your problem
Finish the game before coming on Sup Forums bruv
Anyway I'd say it's a pretty mixed consensus. Leaning towards negative though. Most people I've talked with just think it's mediocre.
For Nomura and Toriyama to have literally no involvement in the project.
As someone who liked FF12, you're right, you do. The others are AI-controlled but you do at least have control over that AI by setting up gambits or whatever they were called.
FF6 is still the king of all of them
You can give direct commands to the whole party.
But you don't have to, hence why the system is better。
Ok. Well I like the idea of it not even being an option.
Return to it's mostly medieval theme from the first games
Yotsuyu butt naked in my bed when i log in every morning.
Yeah it's so fun to get buttfucked because your dumbass party members spam useless shit and it's so enjoyable to have a game tailored around the fact your party is dead weight.
I want jobs but for fuck sake can we have characters whose visual armor also changes. Like please. I don't care if its only based on jobs.
I would enjoy it if they programmed ally AI that lined up with your character's personalities. They could even have it improve as the characters go through development.
To use FF9 as an example vivi would have been clumsy and tripped a lot and shit during the early game, but gotten his shit together as the game went along.
It's not like FF games are ever very hard, so it wouldn't be a huge deal to be sub-optimal.
Insisting that things need to change for the sake of being different is sheer stupidity.
I'd rather be autistic than a total idiot, so my vote is leave it alone.
The only straight-up sci-fi FF is XIII, and even then it had kind of a weird mysticism associated with it. I honestly would like to see a true sci fi FF, done well, using actual sci fi themes. Fantastical and/or futuristic technology appears in every FF to varying degrees but it's usually just visual flair more than anything.
I don't care if it's more medieval or futuristic.
I want a combat system that isn't "action" oriented, where the "RPG" mechanics actually matter instead of just adjusting your numbers. If it has to be action oriented, something in the vein of Kingdom Hearts wherein the choices you make in your "build" significantly change how you perform combat. No more brain dead "Hold BUTTON to auto-complete" bullshit. I want full control of the party again, and at least the option to fully micro-manage my combat.
I want a non-linear growth system like materia or jobs a la tactics. Something sphere grid-esque is an acceptable compromise. I haven't played the redone license system in Final Fantasy 12, but the original US release version is "non-linear" but also too easy to complete, making it's openness ultimately pointless. I want something that rewards me for making a choice instead of giving me either no choice or functionally no choice once I've played the game enough.
But the biggest thing I want? No more fucking anime-tier stories. I've gone back and played the older Final Fantasy titles since I've been an adult. No more overly melodramatic FF7 clones. No more winey self-obsessed main characters. No more shitty lifted-right-from-anime character tropes. I want epic heroes or down-to-earth Every Men getting caught up in bigger things and rising to the occasion.
>actually taking it seriously and getting butthurt about it
Go back to Sup Forums you retarded faggot.
I want to be able to fail skill checks in JRPGs again. Need to level up a rogue-type character to certain levels for certain chests, level up healer to be good enough to heal NPCs, stuff like that. Recently JRPGs have just felt like bland, empty single player MMOs where all you do is fetch quests and main quests. All that side shit is the meat of RPGs.
I want that. The idea of cave wizards fighting sandniggers in that weird world was cool as fuck.
How about a game that has an actually interesting art-style with protagonists that don't look like weeb garbage, a story that isn't about killing god or the earth dying, with weapons that are actually usable, armor that actually covers the body, and just.. new shit.
Your definition of "recently" is like the past 25 years, dude.
Nah, there have still been some more recently with lots of side mechanics. Like the Tales games have food crafting, even FFXV at least had fishing. More of that shit to make the world feel involved.
Fucking this. They spend twenty years developing their titles now. They can afford to put aside some of that time to model actual armor changes.
Probably means Bravely Default, which is a weird thing to single out since it was a handheld side project, and a new mainline FF would pretty much have cutting edge graphics.
Unlimited SaGa was sort of like a one man DnD campaign and people fucking hated it. I dunno if the market is there. 62209 thiers
I think that was down more to it being a genuinely pretty crap game than the DnD mechanics.
What do you think was crap about it?
They just need to add some sort of combo system to attacking/defending. That way they can keep it turn based but add an active element to battles.
Yeah playing ffxiv made me realize how much fun changing character appearance based on role is.
Every aspect of the game, from the combat mechanics, to the movement, to the technical execution of the graphics, is lacking in some regard, and when you add these elements together, you get a game that's simply unpleasant to play.
Can someone explain to someone with limited final fantasy gaming experiences what IS a final fantasy game. Like at its root, what is it? Why do people accuse FFXV of not being final fantasy?
Would the ones I played like FFX be considered final fantasy?
And what's with pix related? Fake?
I really enjoy the sprite work, the combat is pretty typical SaGa fare which I love and I thought the board game thing was neat. So I guess it's just a matter of taste.
