You didn't ACTUALLY hold it like this, did you?
You didn't ACTUALLY hold it like this, did you?
I never owned a 64, but looking at the controller, how the hell were you supposed to hold it?
>d-pad doesnt do shit
>L button doesnt do shit
and why not?
Hand on the left so both your pointer fingers are on the respective shoulder buttons
...
I did. Watcha gonna do about it, bro?
of course i did, im part of the master race
No, of course not, but just out of curiosity how do YOU hold it?
looks like the girls are giving a handjob to OP's dick
kek
Yes, I did. It was the most comfiest for turok and waverace
>Implying the L button on the N64 controller was used ever
i did
HA! I get it. It's because it's small like his dick, right??!
Man, you are suck a jokester.
>OP anal pained
I held it like this.
and how did you pressed the z trigger?
Did you see their nails? It's opviously dick pain.
What a fucking piece of abnormal garbage.
with your knee dumbass
Please don't tell me people actually gave up full control of a third of the controller just for one button?
Not the user you're replying too but I used my right middle finger to press the z button.
You don't even need the D-pad and L button for 90% of the library.
Seeing as that's the intended way, I did hold it like that.
>This guy doesn't give it 100%
Middle finger of my right hand. If I can reach the thumbstick while holding onto the outer prong is it surprising that I can reach a similar distance with my longest fingers?
My brother and all my friends held it that way, but i always held it with my hands on either side.
>being a manlet with child hands
>being a manlet with child hands
Incidentally, I was a child when I used the N64 controller.
Most people who held it like that were kids when the console was relevant
Dpads were a mistake.
That's how you were supposed to hold it. Didn't you watch your Nintendo Power tape? Don't tell me you weren't playing with power...
Immediately got this guy. Best decision.
Devs never used the d-pad and L button exactly because there was no real comfortable way to hold the thing where all buttons were accessible.
It may surprise you that aging is an existent concept.
...I did.
Underage get out
...
Of course I did. It was very comfortable to hold that way.
...
...
Of course not. I used a Hori, like a sensible man.
Did any game use that middle option?
>Implying the D-Pad and L button were useful
Any game that used them for actual purposes generally was turn-based- or had R or Z serve the same function as L.
Middle finger maneuver is the only way I can play. playing it like that in OP's pic is fucking shit. my thumb just doesn't grip on that pos stick well.
just 007 and PD as far as I know.
Why would you if the left option gave you more buttons to use overall?
The only thing I can think of is if you need to use the analog stick for better camera controls in sacrifice of better movement
>trying to play Sin and Punishment, Perfect Dark or Goldeneye on that
>used far right with left thumb on the stick and hit the z-trigger with my knee
I'm not the only one, right?
>here's your controller bro
there's an option in sin and punishment to use that setup for left handed players
I know what this thread is, but it still rubs me up the wrong way. Why do you have to be so weird about this Sup Forums, just stop. People play guitar hero with their feet but it dosn't make it the correct method.
wow user, how can you be so dumb?
No wonder a lot of people shit on the N64 controller, when it was very comfortable and ergonomic.
The stick is the only bad thing about it, since it used to go to waste pretty fast.
But a new one was great.
this is honestly how i held it as a kid playing mario kart with my parents, they even told me it was wrong but i never fixed it at that time
any other way was too uncomfortable. Even with big hands it felt like shit.
Yes? That is the intended way to hold the N64 controller when playing a game that uses the analog stick. If it's one of the rarer games that use the D-Pad then you hold the left and right grip, but middle and right are what you do for analog stick games.
Play Pokémon Stadium's minigames, they change control schemes for different ones and in the "how to play" section they show a diagram of how you should hold the controller for each. There was even one minigame that had both the D-Pad and stick and no buttons, and it recommended holding the left and middle prongs, which was the only time I ever saw said control scheme use.
I don't understand what's so difficult to grasp about the N64 controller for some people, it was designed during the transition between 2D and 3D and has a grip option for both approaches: left prong for 2D d-pad with L-trigger and middle prong for 3D joystick and Z-trigger. sure it doesn't look nice but it was functional enough.
No but it's a terrible design for a controller.
...
>using the claw on anything except mh on the psp
>playing mh on any system
one of my ring fingers. most likely the left.
This makes me want to puke.
...
How do you play it without a system? Is there a tabletop or card version or something?
I still hold it like that
>playing mh
far right, pressed Z with my left hand's middle finger
>not playing mh
What are you?
A casual?
i bet games were more fun for you back then too
it's literally the most autistic franchise after sonic and smash bros
Perfect for Podracer
...
as a kid i used to hold it with the three prongs facing away from me because nobody told me i was holding it wrong
