What's your opinion on professional games publisher Gearbox, Sup Forums?
Gearbox to publish We Happy Few. Price instantly doubled
Just going to pirate it anyway. Like I give a fuck.
>Gearbox
That wouldn't be bad ass. And Randy would definitely put Denuvo
>Denuvo
damn i might have to wait a whole five days
Those are the wrong glasses
I have no opinion on what you posted OP, and old Gearbox had some ok stuff. I liked some of their HL packs, and I also thought Borderlands was decent enough. But I truly dislike them for Duke and Homeworld, and A:CM was more then bullshit, it unironically and for real smelled of fraud, not the memeshit Sup Forums is usually on about but actual fraud. Gearbox isn't a dev I truly hate yet, though it might be for others, but they're deep in write-off-without-looking-twice territory too.
If it's actually a finished complete game I guess I could see the reason for charging full price.
fuck gearbox
Where did they get the money to even do this?
The price doubled because it's now a complete game OP you absolute moron.
It's not.
Does this mean I can refund it for twice the price I bought it for?
>Gearbox
You mean these fuckers haven't gone under already?
What kind of space magic is Bitchford using to have infinite money, such that he can take a career-ending blow like Battleborn and still have a company to speak of?
As if I needed another reason to not buy this game. Gearbox is fucking poison. I almost feel bad for the developers. Sure they made a pretty generic survival, open world, wank fest, but I'm sure they put some effort into it and had a spark of the creative when they first started making it. Then they sign a deal with one of the worst companies in the biz because they're desperate to get a big name behind them to publish it. Tragic.
But you are wrong Randy
Who gives a shit, all interest was lost when it was shown to be an open world survival game. The E3 reveal is some of the most misleading shit ever.
first person
procedurally generated
open world
survival
sandbox
>gearbox being remotely relevant
>thinking we happy few is worth buying even at $30
yeah, this whole thing can safely be ignored.
> because it's now a complete open world survival
Yeah, definitely deserves a full price, those games are SO rare nowadays.
Nobody is stupid enough to put all their eggs in one basket, even Pitchford. They lost a massive amount of money to Blunderborn, but they still have Borderlands to fall back on and money in the bank, enough to last a little longer at least.
They embezzled fucktonns of money from SEGA.
I have a feeling their safety net is gone now though.
>Crafting
>Zombies
>Meme
>Strong female character
I already lost interest when it was revealed to be a shitty survival game. Slapping Gearbox on the cover made my interest go into the negatives.
This actually means I am interested in it again, but only insofar as I'm interested in seeing it fail because fuck Gearbox.
it will be $30 as soon as they get second month sales numbers
>doctor who reference
us nerds right
We Happy Few?
More like Pee Crappy Poo.
or free is blizzard shits out something that looks even remotely like it.
#rekt
To be honest I heard about this game once but it never caught my attention because I don't give a shit about indie games.
>GOG release
>Gearbox
Dropped it like it was hot.
Games can be pulled off GoG. Remember Chronicles of Riddick?
>Gearbox publishes a garbage survival crafting game
>Blizzard shits on them by doing the exact same thing but with better marketing
On one hand I want to see Gearbox get shit on again and hopefully go bankrupt before they ever get to release Borderlands 3, on the other hand I don't want Blizzard to get mountains of unwarranted praise for making another godawful casual game that leads the rest of the genre down a path of self destruction
They'll pull it out to add Denuvo, obviously.
>What's your opinion on professional games publisher Gearbox, Sup Forums?
Do you even have to ask OP? Everybody here loves Gearbox.
BACK OFF
Police boxes are real things that existed in England in the '60s you fucking idiot
Blizzard only makes a new game every one century. It might be done by Activision instead and put in the Blizzard DRM like Destiny 2, but that's not the same thing, specially for the drones.
2k keeps them afloat
Poor Phoebe, forever stuck being a Battleborn character.
The only sad thing about this hilarious tale of hubris and failure.
Wait. It's not out yet?
It's on early access on Steam.
>hurr police are evil!
>smash the police!!!
can these guys get any more obvious on their agenda?
>early access
So it's shit?
I know, right? I mean, this is literally the first game ever to have the police as enemies.
>Gearbox publishes game
>Price of game now skyrockets
Never let Gearbox publish your games idiot!
yeah, i can't believe how far the industry has fallen
so if you bought it early access for $30, would you have to pay an additional $30 at release? If not then who even cares?
Is Randy going to kill himself if Borderlands 3 fails?
>60 bucks for an early access survival game
>gearbox
>"expanded scope" when most of the mechanics were already established beforehand
When will these fucks file chapter 11?
Nah, he's got a family. I bet his autistic son would off himself if Randy told him he couldn't get a new bed castle though
Publisher will fund them until Borderlands 3 releases, if it flops they'll be in bother.
In the meantime Gearbox generates operating revenue with full price charging for stuff like Duke remasters, Duke being grotesquely patched into Bulletstorm or whatever it was, some other overpriced POS they did, and now this dick move.
Idiots buy that shit, Randy can say his company is still a profit-making machine (coz the outlay on those garbo uprezzes and ports is so small and he charges full AAA price) and thus 2K are happy to pump in real money for B3 development.
You know he' siphoning some of that off as well.
>Memelands
>failing
Even that shoddily-written, reused-assets, barely could be called an expansion of 2 piece of dried horse shit that was the Pre Sequel turned in a profit.
Gearbox is a publishing company as well as a game studio, you mong.
no, i want him to kill himself before he makes Borderlands 3. that way, a competent person can handle it without fucking it up with memes and tanky enemies
Borderlands 3 publisher, 2K.
>buy early access
>game comes out
>refund for double the money
????????? randy?????????????
Are Gearbox the one company even shills won't bother to defend?
The game will be shit and Gearbox being interested in it along with the price increase spells its doom.
Inb4 the same We Happy Few shill that comes in every thread arrives
I don't see anyone defending EA either, but Gearbox has it especially bad.
There were some people defending the Bulletstorm remaster a few months ago, but that was about it.
idk but this game is the epitome of aspergers
We happy few lost all of its momentum when it decided to go the crafting survival route. You might as well have bought spoiled milk and try to sell milkshakes
Why would anyone defend a $6 game being marked up to $60?
>when it decided to go the crafting survival route
Wasn't it always that? It was just the promo images tricked people into thinking it would be like Bioshock or whatever.
Also the trailer made it look "cinematic"
>Survival game
Oh, for fuck's sake. I actually looked forward to this for a while too.
Why didn't they make this a story-driven game instead of an open-world survival thing?
At the time of making the game it was all the rage
But it has been 2 years and everyone fucking hates it now they are fucked
Because you can pay even more to have dick kickem in the game
The concept is cool but jesus fuck is it completely wasted on an open world survival game. The concept of killer clown society and that type of gameplay just doesn't work, would be infinitely times better if it was an adventure game
It went from cool bioshock/dishonored inspired game, to open world survival garbage.
I don't fucking know. It totally killed my interest.
How the FUCK does open world even FIT in this honestly?
>story-driven game
Need an interesting story for that, bub.
My thoughts exactly.
>dark athena is not on GOG anymore
huh, glad I got it when it was up then
>implying gearbox can afford shills
>expanded scope
So it's a game that has no idea what it's supposed to be? Even more reason to avoid it.
these things can take time to make a difference, see Bioware.
It took so many trashy games before Andromeda was the final nail in the coffin.
They still have Borderlands money, Battleborn was their most expensive game to date but not enough to kill them.
It's a survival sandbox. With the story mode/scripted quests coming next year which will be having you fetch stuff from around the sandbox. It's trash. Gaming is so fucking dead holy shit. Imagine an actual fleshed out game like freelancer or painkiller coming out in 2017. It's never going to fucking happen.
nobody likes a bigot
It could. Brave New World-esque story.
I don't think many video games or films take THAT approach to dystopia. They love 1984 way too much.
How is it more of a complete game? Is gearbox developing it now as well?
Should have joined anthony cumias podcast like he planned originally. weiner is literally /ourguy/
I lived down the road from Gearbox and I got to play test Duke Nukem Forever before it came out. Shit was fun to know about it before it got announced.
Other than that, they are unoffensive to me.
I hate myself for a laughing
All of these indie games go survival crafting route because it's the cheapest type of game to make.
>because it's the cheapest type of game to make.
Really? Seems like it would be a nightmare to make.
I thought this looked like some kind of spiritual successor to Bioshock or something, with what looked like splicers running around in screenshots. Went to the store page and was greeted with
>Open world
>Procedurally generated
>Early Access
>Survival elements
When will this end? Will it EVER end?
Also the first demo they had everyone play was the scripted planned out intro so everyone was like FUUUUCK THIS IS SO DETAILED and they launched it on early access and oh wait it was just the intro now here is an empty open world full of PROCEDURAL GENERATION!!!
Some real stupid shit.
It was never going to be a heavily scripted game. These shitty little indie studios only have like 10 employees, thats they all make these games that don't require much more than must modeling a map and some npcs
Bioware Montreal got shitcanned and the Mass Effect series is in indefinite hiatus much like Dead Space and Skate, but the main Bioware, Edmonton, is still around and making their Destiny clone, Anthem.
Oh yeah they're totally referencing that thing that happened 60 years ago my bad
How well did Bullestorm do that they think it was a good price point to repeat?
yeah it was always that.
I went to their offices and played the first alpha they showed at PAX.
It was fun and looked promising but it's nothing more than a 3D Binding of Isaac with shitty melee combat. No amount of dev time will change this.
Charging more than $20 for it is silly.
Isn,t it on a pretty steep decline tho?
>$51 now
>For something whose basic premise is wonderful, but whose execution is on par with the mediocrity of games like Far Cry: Primal
No thanks.
No set pieces, usually little to no combat mechanics, which usually means limited ai and physics as well, very little scripting etc.
>game set in the 60s
>no way they're referencing the 60s!
Are you retarded?
Could someone please borrow the aesthetics of this game and make it into a real game? Watch a lot of psychedelic 60s movies and dystopian fiction to get a good feel for what it should've been.
