Flying Battery and Oil Zone Act 2 are so fucking annoying. What's the point of the blue ball minigame?
You collect medals that unlock fun extras like the ability to play a no save run with the iconic insta shield from sonic 3
>$18 for a literal HD Port
With CRT filters for that authentic feel.
>beat the final boss as knuckles with all emeralds
>don't get to the true final boss
is this what's supposed to happen? do I have to beat it twice even though I already have all the emeralds?
In Sonic tradition, only Sonic can access the true ending.
>You can get all 7 Emeralds by CPZ Act 2 as Sonic and Tails
>You can get all 7 Emeralds by CPZ Act 1 as Knuckles
but I can fight the true final boss with knuckles in level select just fine
wtf is this shit
>All this bitching about Flying Battery, Hydrocity, and Oil Ocean
Weird, personally I found Mirage Saloon(especially the Sky Chase part) and Titanic Monarch(GIMMICKS FUCKING EVERYWHERE) to be much more stressful.
It's because the true ending The boss creating a wormhole that consumes Sonic to presumably fling him into the events of Sonic Forces.
>You can't get all 7 emeralds by CPZ Act 1 or 2 because the fifth emerald special zone still fucking wrecks your shit and takes five attempts
Why must the pc wait again? And then they wonder why nobody buys their games.
What fucking drove me batshit was having to hard reset the game trying to get the bonus stage of Mirage Saloon Act 1 and wait 2 minutes of the shitty plane segment
But these two levels kind of perfectly detail what's wrong with Mania, there's some new good content but surrounded by the shittiest elements of the old Sonic games and new retarded gimmicks that are anti-fun
just wait for your turn to pirate you pc subhuman piece of shit
>playing second-rate bing bing wahoo
>not playing good bing bing wahoo
>playing bing bing wahoo ever
The issue is most of the old mechanics they decided to bring back have show some of it's age while others aged poorly. Studiopolis Zone pretty much proved they have the potential to bring something new to the plate instead of relying on these rehashed gimmicks.
On the Switch version at least, if you close out the game via the home menu before you exit the special stage the ring doesn't despawn
1-4 were easy
5-6 were pants on head retarded
7 was surprisingly easy, probably due lack of barriers allowing for short cuts
Hey, I may suck at video games, but I'm no filthy cheater. If I deserve the bad ending I'll take it like a man and do better afterward.
I'm just straight up bad at finding where special zone rings are.
I get so upset when I find a place inside the walls only to find a room with item boxes instead.
Does Blue Sphere mode work like S1&K with a rediculous amount of levels?
yes, we need blue arm mods!
Having got a gold medal on almost every blue sphere stage in this game I can confidently say that any amount of blue spheres levels over zero is a ridiculous amount.
How many medals lets you play as sonic with drop dash, insta shield and peel out all at the same time.

Why the fuck couldn't they map turning super to a different button? It's so annoying trying to glide or drop dash only to turn super instead.
I think Stardust Speedway might be the only Zone in the game where I like the original songs better than the remakes/remixes. Not that they're bad or anything, but the original music, especially for the present, is just fucking unbeatable.
Fuck you too mang, I used to abuse the debug menu all the time as a kid and I loved every second of it.
Wait, why again is the PC version delayed without shitposting ?
Fucking this. I don't get why people say the original Super mechanic was shit. It was my favorite way to transform in any video game.
DRM
For some retarded reason, Taxman's tweet is flying over people's fucking heads and they believe he's referring to a fucking article.
How convenient that the tweet is on the same day the delay was announced.
When you say original you mean Sonic 2, transform automatically at the apex of any jump?
came here to post exactly this
i dont know why exactly 5 and 6 are so fucking nuts compared to the others
7 being one of the easiest ones is weird though
To prevent it from being a shit port.
It will be a shit port anyway.
but for what purpose?
PC has Sonic 3 Complete, which is objectively better.
Genuinely, non-shitpostingly: It's PROBABLY Denuvo. It also might not be, but the "bug fixing" explanation sounds like an excuse considering the state of the console versions, and the silence by Aaron and Taxman's DRM Tweet are more than suspicious.
if you aren't using the crt sharp filter you're fucking up

Enjoy your post game clean up.
Mania has fewer shit zones. AKA, half of Sonic 3.
>rgb
Game relies on composite dithering to produce transparency effects though.
which zones were shit?
even easier

They must have thought everyone would be more cautious because of all the open gaps and lack of barriers
I don't think they realized that stage 4, 5 and 6 forced people into taking every corner they could possibly cut to the point of mastering the special stage mechanics by the time 7 came.
I love Hydrocity in this game, not only for the music but the overall fact that you can avoid the water for the most part, especially Act 2 which feels a lot like Water Palace with the slides everywhere. I don't know why people dislike the level honestly.
S3 Complete has it work like that and it's probably the greatest thing in that version (not counting all the other great things)
oh well, at least we can fix it on the PC version unless they put in Denuvo and kill mods before they begin
This. Nobody is gonna care about mods for a sonic game, of all things.
Marble Garden, Carnival Night, Launch Base and if you consider 3&K in its entirety, Sandopolis.
People dislike Hydrocity?
How the fuck is that easier when it takes more time and 50 extra inputs?
What is the best track and why is it Knuckles Mirage Saloon Act 1?
In the running for best level in the game too tbqh familia
I feel they wanted the player to feel like a master after dealing with the previous 2 hardest. Like a victory lap after the challenge.
>Someone was actually autistic enough to make this image
Sandopolis isn't even a bad stage, it's just too fucking long. Carnival Night essentially plays itself and is pretty high speed minus being an essential Casino Night clone and the springs everywhere. I'll give you Marble Garden, Launch Base is meh so so.
You have great taste.
>Nobody is gonna care about mods for a sonic game, of all things.
>sonic has an enormous modding/hacking community
>seriously, there are more fucking hacks for the original games than any game even needs
>the mania team got their start with romhacks
>but nobody cares about mods for a sonic game
Carnival Night is an eyesore, features actual clown music, is tight and claustrophobic, and there's the spinner thing that new players absolutely will not know how to deal with unless they're told.
composite is blurry shit though, and so is the crt soft filter
the sharp one looks like old street fighter arcade cabinets and I love it
preserves the crispness of the pixels while still helping smooth it out enough to look better than with nothing at all
yeehaw
anyone who doesn't bother with a knuckles playthrough is really missing out
>Tfw uploader is the same one who made that Berserk intro animation collab thread months ago on Sup Forums
Can anyone stop this madman?
>Reminder: PC will have mods
> Nobody is gonna care about mods for a sonic game
> Mania came from a team of fans who literally got known for their rom hacking skills
K E K
I'm hoping I can get my friend to co-op a knuckles and knuckles run with me.
This game is missing something.
My first playthrough was as Knuckles
My second playthrough was Knuckles & Knuckles
I wish there was a Knuckles & Sonic modifier
Why is the best playable character Knuckles in this game?
> Makes Mirage Saloon x10 better, including music
> Flying and wall climbing comes in handy for Emerald searching and extra powerups/rings
> Has Hidden Palace in his playthrough
Only thing I dislike is the fact that Super Knuckles lacks the Earthquake ability that damages enemies by simply gliding, but that's Hyper Knuckles so eh. I still wish the Super Emeralds got included in the game, hopefully in Mania 2 boys.
if classic shadow existed how would he act?
now I wanna see classic rouge.
His route has more problems due to no extra button to transform but other than that I like his route more
wait does this game have co-op? how does that work?
matter of fact how does the multiplayer on the main menu work? I don't even have 2 PS4 controllers
I didn't make the colab, I just put together a few different (awful but earnest) audio sources along side the Sup Forums draws video. That was a fun thread.
Alright fucko your way IS like 3 seconds faster, but you seriously need a bunch of frame perfect jumps and turns.
youtube.com
The only cool thing about this exploit is
getting Sonic into Knuckles' GHZ1. If you hang out down there long enough the background changes.
Is this your first Sonic game?
Like the genesis games before a second controller can be plugged in to controller the buddy character in the main game. The competition mode is a race/point score through some of the acts in the mania mode.
knuckles is way slower and his super form is lame, why would you like playing him more beyond his exclusive stuff?
especially with the drop dash being a thing now sonic is by far the funnest
nigger you have no idea what frame perfect means
you can just walk off the ledge and keep going and make it through, it's fucking easy as shit
Does he get anything evocative.
Super Sonic makes the screen shake when he drop dashes.
I would like to see a Classic-style Rouge also.
Seeing how most of Sonic's classic animation is based off of 90s anime style, I can imagine Rouge appearing as one of those hyper-activate fang girls.
>have all emeralds
>hit 50 rings as I glide to that wall
>glide to the other side
>except that doesn't happen and I fall to my death
I bet the S3&K transformation mechanics were Sega mandated. Using the superior S3C method would be going troo far
Is the cop boss supposed to be this difficult? I'm having a ton of trouble dodging rockets
My point was the GHZ1 method requires a lot more inputs. Oh boohoo they aren't FRAME PERFECT but still tight inputs that you might as well not do because the CPZ method is idiotproof. I just uploaded 2 videos of a Sonic game for a fucking Sup Forums thread to prove somebody wrong, and you're being more autistic than I am. Give this man a fucking medal.
All the super forms are essentially the same thing, Knuckles and Tails lack design differences though besides Knuckles flashing Pink and Tails flashing a lighter yellow tint. If only Hyper forms were in this game dammit.
She'd proberbly wear different clothes as well, maybe gothic lolita or something a "vampire" would wear.
That boss is pretty easy, all you do is jump over the Red Rockets and hit the blue ones. You get a nice amount of rings along the way too.
It has shitty mechanics, but once you learn the pattern it's pretty easy.
You just have to really overcommit to your jumps over the missiles because the autoscroll physics will start pulling you back otherwise.
>Knuckles doesn't glide any faster in Super form
Yet he climbs faster though? If only he had that too Super Knuckles would be more fun. And Super Tails isn't the same without the flicky army
>Shitty Mechanics
>Shows you what is being fired before you it slowly scrolls at you
>Not being able to put two and two together to figure out red is bad and blue is good
I bet you went right into a special stage and couldn't figure out why red spheres were bad
Does anyone else think the Flying Battery Act 2 boss is the hardest in the game?
Daily reminder PCFags BTFO
I think when everything is said and done
Mean Bean will cause the most game overs. I've watched people completely fuck that up because they have no idea what it is.
Also no Flying Batter Act 2 is ez pz.
I think Sonic Mirage Zone act 1 is harder because of the wonky movement caused by the plane. Still easy though
>Get to the octo boss
>Think the difficulty is probably a big meme
>Die about 7 times
A couple of the deaths were utter bullshit and I still don't know what happened but it's a good thing I had tons of lives stocked. That was the first challenging part of this game so far.
>tfw idort but can't bring myself to play multiplats on anything but pc
>they announce the pc delay
>''alright cool, it's just 2 weeks, Im not too hyped for it anyways''
>can't stop myself from watching videos of sonic mania
>think about sonic mania every minute of the day
>feels like the game came out over a week ago already but I then realize it just came out yesterday and I have to suffer for 13 days more
JUST
Flying Battery boss sucks, but the stage overall doesn't feel significantly different from S3&K
Hydrocity's Act 1 manages to be worse than Act 1 of the original, but Act 2 is virtually the same as the original's Act 2
Oil Ocean shot itself in the foot by being reminiscent of Sandopolis
>consolefags celebrating a delay
Why
Way to bring nothing to the thread
You can solve your problem.
>bought the PS4 version
>still havent gotten around to playing it
>by the time its out on PC ill be picking up Warriors All-Stars on PS4 and my Yakuza Kiwami Steelbook
How do I stop being lazy and actually play the games I buy?
You just have to remember to jump off the platform before it pulls it down with you on it, because it'll instantly pull you into the death barrier instead of stopping you in the oil ocean like you'd assume it would.
You're all wrong.
>streamable.com
is the easiest way. You'd have to be an idiot to fuck this up.
nope, although the way it's presented is a little uneven (and like several bosses it is only vulnerable when the opportunity to hit it comes up). actually, almost all of the bosses could have used some quality of life improvements for the player's sake, like making it obvious you won't take contact damage form the first boss's feet, maybe making the spider take less hits and having more opportunities to get spinning in the first place, fighting the momentum a little less in the squad boss and caterkiller fight, changing how the silver sonics move a little bit, making the oil ocean boss ONE SCREEN.... i could go on for a while, not just about bosses - although i think they're all a bit off - but the existence of a time limit is something that bothers me a bit, and the cool bonus doesn't make up for that..
personally, i thought the very first eggman fight was fairly unintuitive, which actually bummed me out a little, especially with an instant death after a minute or so.
It involves not asking stupid questions on Sup Forums
