Just found out this is on PSN. I really want to replay it, and I have a copy on PS2 already, but is the PS4 version any better? I hear they upgraded the graphics, but anyone know if the performance has increased?

No graphics update still a great game with a really shit long winded unnecessary end sequence
The graphics look pretty awful on my modern television for some reason so I think it was interlaced. If you have a PC you should just emulate it.
Unfortunately I don't have a gaming computer or play games on PC.
Really? The PSN page says it was upscaled to 1080P. I just finished playing Arc The Lad and it looked better than PS2, but the performance seemed the same. That was a much less intense game though.
it's a straight port
Wow a RG thread... I loved this game despite of it's flaws
>The PSN page says it was upscaled to 1080P
Then it's full of shit because it's 4:3. Sell your PC and get a CPU noob.
Level 5 is an amazing dev. I never played WKC, but everything they did on PS2 was amazing.
Yeah I'm on the PSN page right now and the first sentence says it was upscaled. Also, to your second part, no. I think playing games on the PC outside of RTS games isn't fun.
>upscaling is a "graphics update"
...user.
yeah it has anti aliasing, looks great.
Is this a good level5 or bad?
Darkcloud was good
ni no kuni was bad.
What did you expect from someone who doesn't own a PC?
never played it too, don't have a ps3. But I really want to play it
Unless you play on a pro the performance is just as bad as on ps2
Not really unless you care about trophies. I gave up when I got to that one on one fight against the edgelord elf with the talking Boston Terrier man and he kicked my shit in in literally two hits. Doing one on one fights in a game designed for party members constantly healing the insane amounts of damage enemies do is fucking retarded, not to mention the AI is braindead as well.
I'm trying to enjoy Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits but fuck me it's so fucking slow. Everything in battle takes about five years to do, it's fucking annoying. It's not even hard either.
Good going by those guide lines but I didn't like Dark Cloud, though anything is better than NNK.
It's on PS2 and PS4, not PS3.
ATL I feel gives you direct control over the difficulty based on how much time you put in. The first few chapters are ridiculously easy, however if you keep your levels low and don't grind out for cash/stones/abilities, it can become incredibly difficult, especially the boss battles in the later chapters. If you spend a little time grinding in the arena though, you can literally fly through the game and battles are very fast.
Ever play Dark Cloud 2? People say it's great, but it's really just an even more bloated version of that. Same design philosophy that lead to Ni no Kuni.
Rogue Galaxy is basically Dark Cloud 3: Fuck Georama Edition. It retains a lot of systems but plays more akin to Final Fantasy 12. It has well over a hundred hours of content, but...a lot of that is bloat.
I'd say emulate DC2 first. If you like it, try RG. If not, stay the FUCK away.
We can thank this piece of shit for Sony not commissioning JRPGs from Level-5 anymore.
I think it's good Level 5, but in the same sense as it is with all their titles. They put lots of stuff to do and different systems in their games, but you have to invest the time for them to pay off.
It's alright. Combat in Rogue Galaxy is similar to Dark Cloud 2 although you can only attack a certain amount of times before you have to wait a bit. The biggest problem is that the Rogue Galaxy dungeons are horrendously copy pasted, except they're not even randomized so they don't really have an excuse to be like that. There are also random battles.
Is it bad? How about the first one, I considered playing it.
I thought 2 was better than 1.
I am talking about WKC
Sorry my mistake.
I still consider this part of the holy trinity of offline MMO-likes, along with Xenoblade and XII. The final 2 hours before the final boss could have been left out, though. Final boss(es) was a pretty fun fight though, a lot of jRPGs from that era had multi phase final bosses but almost none take it to...what was it, 6? 7? phases like RG did. Storyline wasn't bad either. Postgame dungeon was subpar compared to other level-5 games, though, definitely, but it's a good length even without doing that.
2 comes with a port of 1 with 2's improvements.
block and use abilities and shoot him when he is far away
it doesnt even get truly difficult until the gladius towers and even then its a ballache because of the length of it
just keep spamming desert wind and simons missle bursts to auto win the game
the weapon fusion system sucks in RG
It's not a remaster. What they did was upscale the original graphics to 1080p but they didn't alter any textures (aside from the added trophies you could get the same effect from emulating). So it's very obvious that it's a PS2 game, but it still looks pretty good, and I had forgotten how great the VA was. Amazing game, all around.
>1080p
Stop saying this. It has loads of aliasing and it's not widescreen.
Do you understand what upscaling means?
You don't understand aspect ratios and render resolutions.
It can be 4:3 and 1080p y'know. 1080 is just the vertical height.
>get to vedan
>barriers cause my lymph nodes to start swelling and i drop the game after the first random encounter with that shit
I've tried playing through the game on five separate occasions and 4/5 times that fucking arbitrary and tedious mechanic has rumpled my frumples without fail.
it looks a lot better than any image a real PS2 could put out.
but as other people said they didnt put too much effort into it and its still a PS2 game, it just has a better resolution and doesnt look as scuffed as PS2 games do.
its certainly worth the upgrade cost
>no .hack
>1080p (1920×1080 px; also known as full HD or FHD and BT.709) is a set of HDTV high-definition video modes characterized by 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution;[1]
>(1920×1080 px;
literal retards
I didn't have any abilities when I first tried it because of the game's retarded upgrading system forcing you to farm rare items to get something as basic as new abilities.
I got this at a garage sale and never got more than maybe 10 minutes in just to see if the disc worked.
Is it worth playing for the stacked qt on the top right?
The screen resolution is 1080p.
The game is not filling that full 1080, as it's in 4:3, but the game is displayed at that resolution.
God damn the internal resolution of the game is 1080 but the pixel resolution or space is occupies on the screen is not. Is it really that hard to understand? Its not wide-screen, it is rendered at 1080p.
>stacked qt at the top right
There's even better in the game proper
Hey, give the game some credit. There's a point where you have to switch Desert Wind for Illusion Sword and the combat improves a ton.
>it doesn't matter that it's not 1080p, it's 1080p!
full retard
Fuck off. Kisala is best girl.
i cant believe you are this dumb.
it's upscaled to 1080p without being stretched.
I don't care about whatever the "problem" is I'm saying there's some real fucking ignorance going on in here and people shouldn't be talking about something they know nothing about. Couldn't care less about what PS4 does with their PS2 games or emulation.
>1080p is stretching now
Jesus fuck you are a moron.
I appreciate you bumping a thread for this amazing game, but it's pretty obvious what you're doing at this point.
>Faggots arguing about resolution in a game rarely talked about thread
Nice things etc.
>reeee stop proving I'm an idiot
>open menu
>spam aoe skill
>EVERY BATTLE
Is this how I am supposed to play this game?
You don't have to, but it's the most efficient way.
Unless they actually did the work of changing how the game works like a proper port/remaster and working the HUD around, the only way you'd get a 4:3 to fill 1080 is to ASPECT RAIDOU the fuck out of it.
P much.
Level 5's games are all very stupid like this.
...
So we all agree Phantom Robe Kisala is best girl best outfit right?
>midriff is her best feature
>hiding it with an outfit
nope
...
I really wanted to enjoy this game, but it just goes on forever
Endless corridors after corridors
>Do you understand what upscaling means?
Do you?
Stretching a small image to a higher res is upscaling.
It doesn't even makes sense for videogames, only anime and movies (when a 720p release is stretched to 1080p for instance). With videogames it always stretches it to the size of the screen
What you are talking about is rendering games at higher resolution
>We can thank this piece of shit for Sony not commissioning JRPGs from Level-5 anymore.
Didn't level 5 make Ni No Kuni too?
Yep.
4:3 is like 1440x1080p
16:9 is 1920x1080p
Its 1080p either way
that's what I'm talking about
what is her personality like?
Is she high quality waifu material?
I remember this game.
I think I gave up around the time you found out the main character could turn into a red Super Saiyan and that the moeblob main girl was a literal Space Princess.
>what is her personality like?
Generic moeblob girl next door.
Pretty toothless stuff, honestly.
Ps3 would render ps2 games at 480p and then upscale it to 1080p.
Ps4 renders the original ps2 assets in 1080p and sometimes it even has better framerates depending on if the game had locked or unlocked framerate in its original form.
Bubbly shrine maiden princess in space
Dude, I think you're missing the point. The game is fantastic and the whole point is it's mean to be a parody of the genre.
There's a bug in the PS3 version.
There's a town where all sorts of weird glitches happen like you being throw up and being stuck out of bounds.
The same happen in a emulator.
What PS3 version?
Also if it is a straight port, wouldn't it also be in the original?
It's not a port. It's a emulation of sorts.
It doesn't happen in the PS2 because the developers used a very specific slipery slope on the hardware to do something. This something is not present on the PS3 hardware.
The same thing happened in Devil May Cry 3 where you can't enter a door in the PS3 version. But they patched it very fast. Don't know if they patched Rogue Galaxy.
Hmmm I've seen worse. She does look pretty qt
It's filling the full 1080. Just not the 1920.
Why the hell did they get rid of the ps2 classics category on psn store. Did they add any good ps2 games recently?
When will Sony add more PS2 games? They did it for a few months and stopped adding. The only release in like one year is Star Ocean 3.
I don't know, it looks the same on PS3 to me, but I went on the PS4 the other day and it looked all fucked. I know Legend of Legaia 2 is due out soon, but they are very slow. One day I hope we get .hack.
Isn't .hack getting remastered with an extra chapter anyway.
thank me later
>I don't know how PS Classics work
>he pays again for games he owns
>want to replay Rogue Galaxy
>remember Barrier Break
Nope, never again.
That's .hack/GU.
I will definitely pick it up since I never played past Vol.1 and want to see, but the original 4 are some of my favorite games.
Never owned Rogue Galaxy actually (-:
Worse performance than PS Classics, but has the benefit of a bigger selection and being free.
But that's exactly what they do.
Yes!
>Worse performance than PS Classics
How do you figure that? The performance would be the same or better since some games have 60fps patches. And graphics on emulator are way better.
I love this game
We get a rogue galaxy once in a blue moon, let us not waste this opportunity to post her!
...
>type Rogue Galaxy into youtube search
>bombarded with 50 let's plays all by women
Is this a chick's game?
