no

They won't make you better at games but they're nice if you type a lot and can type fast.

They're not for me. I prefer chiclet keyboards, easier to slide the hand across the entire board. I can imagine the CLACK CLICK CLACK would get annoying as well.

the one with numpad sure

the ones without or just blank keys are fucking meme shit. RGB leds are pretty meme but leds are acceptable so get them in non rgb. They definitly make a difference when typing in the dark which you should always be doing to get true blacks and color from your monitor.

once you get clikkity clak keyboards you wont go back, like going from 1080p to 1440p.

Just don't get one with super loud mechanisms?

pretty sure they make mech chiclets

If a nice quality feeling keyboard is important to you, then yes. If not, then no.

Style over substance

If you think it will suddenly make you great at vidya, no. If you use your computer for several hours a day, then yes.

Most of the detractors are either a) people who've never used mechs before or b) fell for the price = quality meme and bought overpriced crap from Das/Logitech/Corsair. You can get a perfectly good mech for less than $50, under $40 if you don't need a 10key.

Unless you're using a flat keyboard you'll notice no increase in performance or comfort.

However, if you're posting on Sup Forums and playing video games for hours every day you might as well buy one of the many available >$100 as they're satisfying to use to most.

user please, we all know the less keys a keyboard has the more it costs. Other than that though you're correct.

t. Guy looking for a decent 75% keyboard

recommend me a good cheap keyboard

Tomoko full-size is like 50 on Amazon

If you want something minus 10key: amazon.com/Mechanical-Tenkeyless-Velocifire-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01MS8YTYX/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503078778&sr=1-5&keywords=tomoko mechanical keyboard

Full-size of prior: amazon.com/Mechanical-Doubleshot-Velocifire-Illuminated-Anti-ghosting/dp/B01M0QEYR4/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503079336&sr=1-7&keywords=tomoko mechanical keyboard

There's a difference between 75% and TKL. TKL costs less, 75% is a meme for minimalists.

I type a lot for work, so yeah.

Buying Cherry Blues was one of the best buys of my life. I love the sound and feel

can you type with more than 1 digit ANd without looking at the board?

if yes, you already have one and are alright.

How many of these stupid threads are going to be made?
Yes, they are worth it.
No, you don't have to get some $200 Razer bullshit.
Yes, people who call them a meme are literal mouthbreathers.
Any other questions?

Not that user, but I'm interested in a mech.
I was about to buy the VM01, but then I noticed it doesn't have the accented letters.
I'm Italian and I can't go without them.
Do you have any other recommendations?

Can't get a mechanical keyboard because none of them use ISO layout.

amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-GATERON-Magicforce-Qisan/dp/B01E57PUNA

I enjoy mine. I want diff caps though, this font sucks.

gateron browns are nice

That's okay, user, I hear they're working towards a cure for autism.

Just get old IBM keyboards.

just get a high quality membrane keyboard and it's actually better.
not even joking. I have a keyboard that feels the same as good blue switches with way less sound.

>He actually believes this.

Makes no difference in Vidya. Feels a bit better for typing but not necessary and doesn't actually improve your speed.

well I've used multiple mechanical keyboards and I actually just like this membrane keyboard better.
but it makes sense, based on physics, that all you have to do is shape the membranes correctly and they'd have better characteristics anyways. you just have to not cheap out on the membrane material.

Das is good though, bought mine from five years ago before every other company jumped on the mechanical keyboard bandwagon and I'm still using the same one. They are as solid as they come.

U wot

I have that exact same keyboard the daskeyboard one, I have blue switch one they are really not that good only thing they offer is that you can press a lot of keys at once and keys are deep as fuck always mess up my osu!mania accuracy.
But I haven't tried red switch ones people say they are good for games

New mechanical keyboards are surfacing with analog keys. Some titles where I can see that making a massive improvement would be something like GTA. Games where you would want mouse aiming but with the ability to ease in and out on acceleration and steering. Mechanical keyboards are mostly for nicer materials and feel but I think analog keyboards will actually be a huge step up mechanically for certain titles.

wow that's a reason to HAVE mechanical keys instead of just making your membranes not garbage.
but it seems prohibitively expensive.
but, it'd be a good idea to put it in for like 6 keys or something. that's not too bad.

Buy one with clone switches. The patent already expired, no reason to pay the insane price.

i got a keyboard with numpad but the switches are otemu blues.

I have used mechanical, membrane and chiclet and the difference is minimal. The only difference I can tell is the use life after getting the keys mashed in gameplay

I like minimal styles. Anyone have any opinions on the WASD keyboards?

Pointless for gaming but feels good for typing which I'm sure you do also. Just don't get retard reds or black or some other meme switch. Only worthwhile switch is blues.

They're nice.

>He does not know about topre

You are the dumbass.

What are the differences between a mechanical keyboard and a normal keyboard anyway?

Not normal keyboard, jesus, membrane keyboard.

Buckling spring is the best, come at me.

what does the sushi button do?

For gaming its personal preference. They are superior for typing but it will make no difference in games.

>paying for overpriced rubberdomes

This. And get gateron they are actually better than cherry switches and cheaper.

>Being a poorfag

>AKSHULLY ITS A CALLED A MEMBRANE KEYBOARD
>doesnt reply to question

Proof that this is largely snake oil for autismbucs

Reminds me of control terminals in B-scifi films.

got one for free and they are extremely loud. for some reason i cant explain my typing was flawless.

You realize that was someone correcting themselves right?

If you guys have issues with sound, just get Gateron Browns or O-rings. If you're really autistic you can also lube.

Buy 1 cherry blue and 1 cherry red. Do not spend more than $60 on either. This will last you for life.

I was correcting myself dumbass.

Quite exactly the opposite

What's a decent cheap gaming keyboard i could get for $20-50

a keyboard that costs 20 to 50 dollars

I got a scorpion k201 by morgana for $9 on Amazon and it works great. It isn't mechanical and it has removable keys. It lies perfectly flat though. I don't mind but my friend doesn't like that.

Yep.
You don't need a "gaming" one though

it feels nice
does "feels nice" worth $100 is depends who you ask

Utsukushii

leopold is nice

also, for gaming black switches are the best

Don't buy a "gaming" keyboard, or else you're over paying. Just find a normal one in that range and you'll be fine.

Which keys are quietest

got drunk and spilled beer on board=$100 down drain vs. 25 dollar logitech wireless= 4 drunk sessions

reds with damper rings

I just want this keyboard
mine was broken ;_;

Thinking about buying the jelly comb mechanical keyboard for $30

amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-68-Keys-Magicforce-Qisan/dp/B01ABUJ2KM/

fpbp

>getting drunk
>2017

may as well start doing heroin

Ive spilled beer on my coolermaster quickfire like 3 times and it still works perfectly

You shouldn't really need one for gaming, but if you type a lot they're great and feel great. The slight click-clack is quite satisfying and part of the use experience.

The real eye-opener is when you go from a membrane to a mechanical keyboard for years and then have to use a membrane again for whatever reason. The keys are less responsive, because they rest on rubber presses are less consistent, and I find myself hammering the keys harder than a mechanical because I have no feel for the actuation point.

tl;dr Membranes/chics are fine but mechanical keys are better

Man that looks cool as fuck

Nothing over 60$. Mechanicals feel nice, but don't fall for the meme.
I had a Happy Hacker S2 and a Ducky, swore by them. Bought cheap chink shit with imitation blues and LEDs on a lark and I literally could not tell the difference, I even liked it more than my Ducky (which I immediately sold). I kept my HHS2, but I wouldn't buy another.

Don't be the moron that falls for exorbitant priced keyboards.

who /poorfag/ here?
My $20 mechanical keyboard feels so much better to type on then that old logitech crap I was using. I know it doesn't look good, but I don't care since it only costs 20 bucks

Sure. Just don't fall for the brown Cherry switches meme. It's for shitstains who say they are a hybrid between gamer and typist, but it actually feels like typing on sand.

Not sure if Gateron Browns are alright or not.

Which switches are best for gaymers?

Gaterons are considered better for browns

>watch some fuck with a mechanical keyboard playing on Twitch
>the noise from the keys is louder than the game's volume

>watching streamers

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2J22CA1189

Just citing it as an example. Those things are too fucking loud

This is the average mechanical keyboard detractor, he doesn't even know there's literally a dozen switches

Enjoy your typing fedora, nerd

so... still mechanical?

ugly as sin

monoprice.com/search/index?keyword=keyboard

What type of switches?

I don't want something aggressively loud, but I want a little noise

100%
I have red/brown switches
It was like $30 and this shit is awesome. I only got it cause my old keyboard got hit with water, yes just water and the keys would stick.

None of them are loud if you are actually playing games. They are only loud when you are typing text fast like while posting on Sup Forums.
If you just keep your finger on the key waiting to be pressed and are precise in a game, it isnt loud at all.

What the fuck?

All switches make noise from bottoming out unless you get damper rings, and other than that blues are the only switches that make any noise at all.
You might like blues with dampers

Having a mechanical keyboard makes me want to smash every shitty keyboard I'm forced to use, especially on my work laptop... so yes, worth it.

Its so good. I just got mine like a month or two ago with brown switches. I cannot ever go back. Its worth it as hell. It makes a keyboard enjoyable.

Also it makes me wonder about trying other buttons on my arcade stick. I used sanwa for ever. I do like sanwa, but I bet there is something better. Sanwa get so worn down and any dust that collects fucks up the inputs big time.

I never use the numpad though and i'd rather not waste the desk space

I'm typing on an ISO keyboard right now

>as good blue switches with way less sound.
You mean browns?

>wireless

It's all down to preference

Is there any reason you can't find many wireless mechanical keyboards? Does that defeat the point of mechanical keys somehow?
