The voice actor strike is good because studios will hire non-union talent and games wont be dominated by the Troy Baker/Grey De Lisle/Ashley Burch cartel.

How did unions go from one of the backbones of the American middle class to a bunch off assholes demanding exorbitant amounts of money from people with exorbitant amounts of money to give to people wi th exorbitant amounts of money?
What makes you think they\re requesting an exorbitant amount? They just want an honest wage
The want fucking royalties
i dont know about all unions but with the sag aftra case it just seems to be a bunch of literal who failed actors who think they're worth a damn in the voice acting scene throwing a fit.
No, they want ridiculous royalties for their minimal contributions to a game, over the work of the developers/coders/people who actually make the damn things. VAs are utterly expendable and interchangeable.
The only unions that due jack shit anymore are actors guilds, which largely only exist as a way to make sure people already making crazy dosh continue to do so. If unions were actually interested in helping people they would be trying to break into the unskilled labor/retail field, where there are ridiculously low standards for employers.
Troy Baker isn't involved in the strike and in fact has received a lot of shit from other VAs because of it. Same with Nolan North.
Just saying the word "union" in those fields is enough to get you fired.
North in fact told them to quit being babies while he cashed his fat Uncharted check. BASED
>he thinks publishers will raise their budgets when hiring expensive VA's
>he doesn't know they're just going to lay off employees who are developing the game to keep the allocated budget the same.
These people have a grossly inflated sense of their own importance and worth. Game devs are under no obligation to reward them with work, especially for someone like the talent black hole that is Ashley Burch.
Be careful what you wish for.

Should be paying sound engineers more, not the performer.
They'd have a leg to stand on if it wasn't the same 3 fucking fag VAs in every game. They're acting as if they're a group of varying talent when in reality the main 3 just want more $$$
Are you retarded? That's like saying Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt are the only actors when in fact there's a ton of minor actors in addition to the big names.
royalties implies that as a result of being directly responsible for the reason some peopel purchase a game that they deserve a relative percentage of the profit. I don't care how much of a fucking fanboy of ANY series you are, you're not going to boycott a series or not purchase its next installment because a voice actor you liked happened to not be in this one. They believe they are an integral part of a game's sale and quality and frankly they are just FUCKING WRONG.
Not the same thing by a country mile
Because it's a cartel. Did you know Troy Baker won't take certain roles unless Laura Bailey is also hired?
>They believe they are an integral part of a game's sale and quality
You really think voice acting isn't important to the quality of a game?
Oh for sure, but look who gets chosen for 90% of castings. I'm simply saying: they act as if they're for everyone when in reality the main """"crew"""" are self-indulgent and don't care for unknowns. Their interests seem incredibly selfish
Workers don't deserve rights
Workers are slaves
If you willingly employ yourself, you deserve to be a slave
NEET life going strong?
I'm sad the strike isnt working. I wanted to see it start a domino effect and cause game devs to unionize.
What a fucking wild ride that would be.
