>"You never know what's going to happen, but the way it looks right now, under Nintendo's current administration, Mother 3 will never leave Japan and there will never be another Rhythm Heaven game. Iwata was a driving force behind the Rhythm Heaven series, and a consistent advocate for NoA to at least look at the possibility of Mother 3 finding a new audience in the United States and Europe. With him gone, there is no one at Nintendo pushing for either anymore."
>"The core team behind the Rhythm Heaven series has more or less disbanded, and the last time anyone at NoA considered translating Mother 3, they shelved the game as soon as they got to the Magypsies. That was a while ago now, and if anything, management has gotten even less adventurous since then. Depicting Trans characters in a way that would likely insult both the political Left and the Right in the U.S., is the last kind of attention that Nintendo wants for themselves in 2017. They want nothing to do with those kinds of headlines and potential protests."
F
Oh, and SJWs are responsible for Mother 3 never being officially released domestically.
I bought mega mix but I figured it wouldnt help. Hopefully someone makes a spiritual successor to rhythm heaven at some point.

The fan translation is fine, fantastic even. Mother 3 not coming over doesn't upset me. Rhythm Heaven, on the other hand, is a God damn travesty. F

How faithful is the fan translation for Mother 3?
Kevin Hughes
I don't think I've ever heard someone say anything bad about it.

Yet more indicators that Nintendo is not heading in the right direction
Eli Young
Megamix was an okay game, but kind of a bad way to end the series.
Parker Taylor
Mother 3 not getting brought over bc of Magypsys and stuff has been pretty obvious for some time now, it sucks but the fan one is better than anything official.
Rhythm Heaven being gone is awful though, I sincerely hope that's not the case because those games are some of my favorites.
F
Logan Fisher
It's as faithful as you can get, to be blunt. The guy heading it (Tomato) is a pro translator and really big into the series, and handled the thing amazingly
Wyatt Evans

I know Mato does fan translations in his spare time and works at funimation.
I was just curious how faithful it was. Thanks though

Better and more faithful than anything NoA would produce.
I guess I should feel a bit guilty about pirating it, but I really don't.
Alexander Long
B-b-b-but it's not official reeeeeee I can't gieb Nintendies my money for it!

What was your favorite moment in Mother 3?
What made you tear up?
Xavier Morgan
The Mother 3 situation doesn't really bother me, except maybe in the sense of supporting the actual franchise/series. We already have a great, if not fantastic fan translation that is at a professional level for it and it's easily available for everyone to download and witness all that was left untranslated for everyone except Japan itself. Mato did a great job for something this daunting (the game itself is massive in concerns to dialogue and text). The only way you could have had to support the series would be to purchase a Japanese GBA copy back then and I don't think the money no longer goes to the actual company nowadays.
Even if we're no longer able to show our support for the series unless by buying the franchise related titles by VC, I'm sure Nintendo more than knows the love and dedication the fanbase has for this franchise.
Regarding Rhythm Heaven, I think this was going to happen inevitably either way, with or without Iwata. If I'm not mistaken, Tsunku had a very serious condition regarding his throat. Whatever came of that, I'm not sure, but he probably never came to fully recovering 100%. It doesn't make the situation any less sad, but at the same time, the franchise was reaching that point of stagnation where they weren't sure how to keep the series from stagnating any further (coming up with ways to innovate the franchise), so in a way, maybe this was the right call as to not make a franchise last more than it should for the wrong reasons.

Gabriel Smith
Did Rhythm Heaven not sell well? The games seemed to be fairly popular when they were localized.
As far as Mother 3 is concerned, good. As much as I'd love to see Nintendo fully embrace the Mother series and release it internationally, you just know the localization process would destroy Mother 3's excellently crafted story. I'm usually never one to give a shit about localization, but Tomato's spot on Mother 3 fan translation is the only way I would imagine the English language would do justice to the finale of the Mother trilogy. Nintendo's profits be damned, I never want to see the Treehouse touch Mother 3
Luis Collins
>WarioWare's only relevancy today is Ashley, not as a character, but as pedobait
Stop reminding me constantly of this character and about how much porn it brought out, further drowning Wario and the franchise itself in literal pure smut of her.
>When you just want to search for Wario fan art in his tag on Pixiv by searching only by his Japanese name, but it somehow brings out Ashley fan art/porn each and every time
Asher Rivera
Any reason why NoA couldn't just pay for the fan translation and stick it on VC?
Tyler Torres
I even brought every Rhythm Heaven to date, F. Good thing im playing Mother 3 on my 3ds though since I knew that was never coming over.
Post favorite song or game.
Landon Mitchell
Fuck off, this has nothing to do with SJWs.
Lucas Johnson
It might not, but you know deep down that the Anita Sarkeesians of the world who don't care about games and just like anything they can use to bitch about their agendas would see the Magypsies and cause a huge fucking commotion about transgenders

No you moron. They eased up considerably from the mid-90s to the start of the 2010s, after the ESRB was established, and the fifth generation of consoles set in.
You might have occasionally seen one or two minor revisions in that in-between period, but nothing on the scale of some of the Castlevania games, which stripped themselves of all violence, and religion references.
Ryan Ramirez
And by violence, I mean things like blood and gore. Enemies in the western version of Super Castlevania IV, for instance, would explode and disappear in a poof, instead of bleed.
Luke Cook
>the franchise was reaching that point of stagnation where they weren't sure how to keep the series from stagnating any further The thing is that they didn't really need to innovate with every single game. It's not like Fever was fundamentally different from Tengoku, and even when put to buttons the games from Gold were just the same. We saw the different ideas they had over the course of the games, and Megamix proved the new songs and ideas they had were still really good, the only thing they dropped the ball on were remixes. I don't see why the main team couldn't keep making sillier and more outrageous premises tied to good music, but if it has to die then so be it.
Nolan Harris
TaneTane Island was fantastic, I always love trippy moments in otherwise "normal" games
Chase Rodriguez
We already knew Mother 3 would never be localized officially.
Why does anyone hold out hope?
Alexander Ward
It eased a bit but it never went away and you can't blame the SJW boogeyman for something Nintendo has been doing long before you were born you stupid underage faggot.
Colton Rivera
Yeah, actually, it kind of did pretty much go away for years, or are you seriously trying to argue that the slew of censored releases from late 2015 through 2016 was the norm? Cause I can tell you it wasn't.
Noah Fisher
Still with that Mother 3 thing?
move on holy shit.
Ian Moore
i think the only time i felt bad/sad was the mechadrago fight
beyond that it feels like it tries too hard since hinawa dies about a half hour into the game and before that you only spent 5-10 minutes with her
Owen Nguyen
is she attractive at least?
Alexander Allen
People refusing to localize a game out of fear that SJWs would riot means it does have to do with SJWs.
Logan Nelson
I miss Captain Syrup.
Nathaniel Brooks
An underage moron like you don't know what the norm was. >I am a retarded faggot that thinks anyone would gave a shit about DOAX3
Hudson Gray
And he replies with a non-argument. Pack it up folks.
Jordan Carter
They literally said they don't want to localize the game primarily because they're afraid how SJWs would react to the magypsies. You can't get much more direct than that. Do you have any arguments that aren't ad hominum?
Ayden Thompson
>"Fuck off this has nothing to do with them" >Yes it is, they've been doing this for the longest time, it's just a different group now >"Nintendo has been doing this forever you retard, nothing changed" Thanks for agreeing with the retard, you retard
Oliver Sanders
>Tsunku had a very serious condition regarding his throat.
Throat cancer, of all things. Which is doubly worse because he's a singer.
Isaac Lopez
When will we get a new elite beat agents? When will we get new rhythm games instead of indie survival open world meme games
Noah Rivera
Said the retard with a non-argument. If you took your mom's dick out of your retard mouth and read what op posted you would see they did not want to deal with shit from the Left and the Right they are playing it safe and not taking a side. So you are a retard that does not know what is going on?
Jordan Evans
I remember them changing the name of an NPC, but that's it. Fassad was previously something else, I believe?
Andrew Long
Of course not, Splatoon is worthless. Can't you read?
Thomas Davis
MegaMix was a success though. Kimishima (before the game was even announced for English territories) mentioned in an interview about the 3DS that he was happy over the sales of games like MegaMix, K: Triple Deluxe, and others. Why are we concerned about the Rhythm Heaven series?
Brayden Russell
You intolerant fuck, self censorship is censorship. They are afraid of backlash from SJWs, that's why they've taken to censoring themselves.
James Long
>Sjws have no real use in this conversation >but anyway heres why im angry at blue hairs
fuckn peachy, m8
Brandon Perez
>Depicting Trans characters in a way that would likely insult both the political Left
Leo Hughes
The worst thing that Megamix did was think that it needed to have more "substance" to it with the complex menu system, story, and extra content, plus the localization was pretty poorly done.
All Rhythm Heaven ever needed in its sequels is new minigames because the overall presentation is absolutely perfect. No need for pointless content and fluff.
Sebastian Myers
Flint just fucking losing it after finding out about Hinawa killed me.
Wyatt Gutierrez
Why is this something that keeps you up at night and not something you stopped thinking about as soon as your heard it? Wheres the payoff to the obsession?
Zachary Nguyen
When I beat it for the first time and didn't press any buttons after the "Emd?" screen. I thought that was all there was to the game and it hit me hard. The real ending is worse and too long.
Austin White
>An article full of nothing but speculation Why.
Hunter Johnson
If you project any harder you'll blind me. It's word by word what is on the article. What is your agenda trying to deny it?
Justin Taylor
You retarder faggot with bad ob. Nintendo is playing safe like it tends to do, knows they can easily draw fire no matter how they handled it so they stay away. Nintendo does not want to piss the Left or the Right off so they take a middle ground of sorts. Also I am not saying I am ok with it, I am telling why it is happening.
Ryder Phillips
I didnt read shit nigg Im just fascinated in the juvenile lovehate boner for anything that stinks of social justice pussy or has been anywhere near close to it
>agenda See thats the problem assuming everyone has some game to play against you
in slightly related to the thread
I hope they release Mother 3 on the Nintendo 64 mini so the game can be played the way it was always meant to
Aiden Thomas
You got a warped idea of self censorship if you think its something new
Everyone always does it, esspecially companies where any words parted are always 100% on the record everytime Everyone is abstaining from saying any dumb shit, or what they really think. The reality is, it doesn't fucking matter what a figurehead of a company thinks or says officially. If it doesn't grow the brand, don't bother.
If companies weren't self censoring for the sake of tumblrisms, they were self censoring for the sake of religious folks. Nintendo were kings at that.
Samuel Ortiz
Well, maybe next time you should read things before voicing your blind and ignorant opinions on them.
Oliver Williams
Honestly I liked some of the additions. The challenge train is a cute diversion that gives you something to do other than go for medals and perfects and it tests whether you know rhythm or just timing with those tempo-up segments. The skill stars are along the same lines in terms of getting you to play games beyond simply getting a superb on them and waiting for a chance to get a perfect on them. The scoring system being more transparent helps too, since now you have a gauge of just how good at rhythm you are in the form of a formalized score that other rhythm games are known for, plus you can actually use the bottom screen to help correct your pacing if you're slightly off-beat. The stage UI definitely didn't need the downgrade, especially since in the endgame you're spending all of your time in the museum and toggling over the the challenges to do perfects/train, so the main map is actively intrusive and the mandatory dialog before trying a perfect makes the retry period take way longer than simply click-click-go. Honestly I was pretty satisfied with it aside from the gate/endless games being pretty boring/annoying aside from Sick Beats which is itself pretty great to play on its own but not enough to carry. Fever probably had the best endless games (aside from Wake Up Caller), a shame that Manzai got replaced with fucking Mr. Upbeat. I can't recall how much time I spent just playing Kung Fu Ball with a wiimote in each hand.
John Martin
At least you weren't greentexting like a fagg, ty ty On with ya day then

Please, someone tell me this is clickbait. I can't accept the death of rhythm paradise...;_;

It is. Its just some dumb opinion article claiming to have "SECRET" sources.
