The only people you ever explain the situation to are people who already are on your side. The reason everybody acts like you're such a criminal is because A. most people don't know why you were even arrested and thus rumors begin to circulate and get twisted out of control, especially among highschoolers, and B. the people that know ANY part of the story only know the story the politician made up, thus they have a predisposition to be critical of you and just assume you're a delinquent.
