Monster Hunter World

MonHun in high quality on something that isn't a portable potato spec-wise; what's not to like? I just hope nothing's been overly casualised. Capcom better make Hammer and the two Lances viable this time around. I'm tired of CB and IGfags.

Who /hbg/ here

Get ready for 12-15 monster roster and no grank
aka Tri

Right here...

It looks like they did away with gunner armour styles/looks...

Yeah this is a legit concern. There are so few monsters announced. I get that they don't want to show off too many, but they could at least come with some kind of statement saying how many previous monsters will be returning or something. Just advertise the shit out of it "Over 80 returning and 20 new monsters to fight". Would hype up everyone.

lad

>lance babies
lmao
This

Oh boy, I can't wait to fight twelve thousand variants of Rathalos again!!

This series is good but the creator is a faggot who shoves Raths nonstop into every other monster fight so I'm sick of it.

Deviants and subspecies were a mistake

no info on end game. It can have to best controls / combat / weapon weight but none of that shit matters if we are farming a regular 6 star rathalos all day for rubies

Don't even main gunner weapons and I'm fucking upset.Gunner sets are some of the coolest looking shit.

>I just hope nothing's been overly casualised.
as long as they don't touch core combat I don't give a shit. Gathering/farming is always my least favourite part of mon hun

also worried about this

Looking forward to it. Looks like they turned Crouch Fire into a sort of prone fire, which has me excited.

GL has always been viable and is even more now

>the new diagonal slash deals 2x slam damage
>shelling does ticklish 1 digit damage
GL is still a bad Lance, alright.

>>shelling does ticklish 1 digit damage
Where did you see shelling in this webm??

Regardless of the impact of these individual changes, it's very easy to see the shift in design philosophy that's suppose to cater to ugly gaijin westeners
>intrusive green flies telling you where to go every second
>stat cards at the end of a hunt so the retard who did fuckall can feel good about placing two traps
>Hunting horn basically plays itself now
>Preparation is a bit hard for johnny, just let him switch everything in camp
>damage numbers and a health meter
The game might not be ruined yet, but they're sure going in the wrong direction

There is no health meter. If you're gonna shitpost at least know what you're talking about.

>SA finisher move does 3 dmg into 60 dmg
>Wyrmstake does 4 and 6 dmg into 42 dmg

Gunlance just did as much damage as a SA in it's special new move in 1/50th of the time, on top of hitting the monster with TWO attacks for 100 damage. SA only hits for ~10 dmg per attack in SWORD MODE.

This is why damage numbers are good, so you can see how btfo fuckers who think weapons are weak, are wrong.

I really need to know the difference in release time between PS4 and PC and if there will be some kind of save transfer festure between the two, which I doubt.

The peak of the heart meter very clearly correlates to the state of the monster, fatigue and anger are portrayed too but as the rate.

>Trying to tell weapon balance from demo footage
Every fucking time with you retards

you have to understand, most of these people aren't actually "into" monster hunter. They don't understand that capcom fucks with demo numbers to make some weapons appear stronger.

was it said if the game had Grank?
Also I really hope that even if they mixed gathering and village quests, theres a difference in dmg and health monsters have between SP and MP

This. Remember when GL was a beast in XX demo? Look at it now.

The heart represents the same shit we can see on the monster. It's honestly an addition that adds nothing. Just another spot to look at for the same info. Neither good or bad.

I hope you are ready for Levi's DB and IG's flying circus
>inb4
b-but they probably have a stamina cost, b-but the new AI is so fucking intelligent and aggresive it will tear you a new asshole mid-air, b-but I don't care because those are not my main weapons. Dear god the only thing that could top this is if they reveal tonfas or something equally stupid like helicopter GS

That was even worse because it was against a bunch of monsters that were weak to shelling, so you had gunlance literally shred things in half the time anything could.
Redundancy by itself is a flaw, if you have the technology and time to represent information regarding the monster in an organic way ingame, don't take up my fucking HUD with it.

Just because the distinction isn't there doesn't mean the armour's appearance might not be. They could just as easily make some types be inspired by the old gunner designs instead of making it all look like blademaster. Hell they might even have multiple options for the same armour type, we don't know yet.

you think they wouldn't flaunt a feature like that at every opportunity? I would start off with that before even mentioning gunner separation is gone to not make it seem like a negative

It takes up 1% of the screen space, user. You need to calm yourself.

Yes, and the retard talking over comms takes up another 2%, and the massive song list in the corner is another 2%. It's shit that builds up and is indicative of bad design. Keep in mind you a trying to rebuke a single sub point on a very long things I mentioned, this isn't the culmination of all my complaints.

They've got plenty more to flaunt that makes a much bigger impact than armour designs, which are linked specifically to monsters which they don't want to show all of just yet. Mentioning it alone isn't a negative because it removes a needless barrier between the melee and ranged weapon classes which in itself is a good thing.

The NPC chatter is just for the demo/tutorial and the song list and move lists are also optional, and meant for newfags

newfag here, this looks awesome to me. the only other mohun I played was a bit of tri, emulated on dolphin. is 4 for 3ds worth playing until this comes out, or should I just wait? 3ds controls seem to suck ass (don't have c-stick or new3ds nub)

It's not a needless barrier, it lets the two weapon archtype have more distinct armor skills that would be useless on the other, by combining them those can only become more homogeneous.

4U is worth playing yeah, unless you want to avoid burning yourself out before World.

I'm more /ranged/ than /hbg/ but it's a fantastoc weapon yes. Bow and lbg are also cool. But hbg feels the meatiest.

Considering defense/resists change based on your weapon type now, skills could easily change too

Could, but now we are in speculation territory aren't we.
Chance is what's going to happen is that armor will retain the extremely homogeneous skills, health up, attack up, all that rather boring stuff, and they will relegate everything with actually interesting changes to the mantles. Personally would suck for me because I love clownsuiting but it's the most likely road.

Scoutflies are only slightly too bright but are still comparable to other effects. Plus they have to be activated by you and you have to find the tracks to send them to the next set allowing you to find the monster. Hell of a lot more involving than it used to be, with more potential for the monster to move around.
What's bad about this?
No it really doesn't.
It just means there's more chances to prepare and since there's more monsters and wider areas on average it adds more decision making about whether you want to go back and change things up. But you've clearly made your mind up on everything regardless.
Damage numbers just mean you don't have to google your specific attacks, the different effects are still there and numbers can be turned off. The heartbeat sensor is extremely vague and barely a healthbar, it only goes between three levels for health and shows when they're mad. Since there's again many more monsters it's just there to let you keep track of that.

Just about every change that gets called out as "casualising the game for western audiences" is ultimately making the game more indepth, involving or in tune with how it originally was.
And
The handler isn't always on there and is mainly there for the tutorial, and both her and the extra song lists can be turned off if you don't need them.

>Just about every change that gets called out as "casualising the game for western audiences" is ultimately making the game more indepth, involving or in tune with how it originally was.
Yes directly feeding information through the HUD definitely makes me feel a lot more involved and immersed, your shill game is on point today user.

No it doesn't. You don't need two different armours for that, you could easily have a feature where one skill translates to another similar but different skill depending on what weapon you're using. The old method hardly worked against homogeny because you couldn't use the armour in the first place so the fact those skills existed didn't matter to you.

The only people who's salty about this is Nintenbros.

>the information displayed is either vague, only slightly more than what we used to have, or things you should already know
>everything can be turned off and it even shrinks the bars when you're not in combat to aid immersion
Whoa. Keep in mind you're trying to rebuke a single sub point on a very long list.

Stop replying to this retard, he does this in every fucking thread.

>Neither good or bad
More like pointless, it's a hud element with no reason to exist.

I don't know why anyone is mad. We're getting more monster hunter and there's tons of good monster hunters to go back to if you don't like a change or too. Everyone's mad they're getting more of what they like. I don't get it.

Can someone explain hunting horn's new shock wave and queu mechanic?

Do other GS bros want more combos and variety, or would you be happy with Run around-Charge-repeat ad nauseam still?

Clownsuiting can fuck right off in my opinion, but relegating skills to mantles isn't something I'd like too much. Since they operate on a cooldown it means if skills come with them they can only be used for however long the mantle lasts before needing to recharge.

I want more charge attacks
I want every attack to be a charge attack

>everyone who disagrees with me is one person

Gathering and farming IS monster hunter user

Fuck off

>Charge Slap

Charge Kick

Nigga I can tell its you by the way you write, your strawman is not going to work on me

I always hear GL fags bitching that their weapon is shit but I never hear bow fags saying it even though the weapon doesn't seem that great. I'm not just talking about MHW, more of the series in general. Is the weapon better than it seems or do so few people use it that there's no one around to bitch about it?

That's nothing but speculation on your part as well. If anything the game's had a history of interesting skills on armour so there's less reason to believe they would remove that entirely until it's actually shown to be the case.
Mantles do have a lot of big effects but that doesn't exactly mean it's where all those abilities will go, them having a cooldown makes it seem like they won't go that route. Before they were announced I was thinking they were like a replacement for charms but I still think they'll work a little similarly to that, though some are completely unique like the glider mantle.

>Over 80 returning and 20 new monsters to fight
Nigga if they pull this shit off then I'd preorder this thing immediately.

Bow always has one really OP bow
Even besides that though, Bow has always been decent at worst

Right here. Excited for the new ammo, but worried about being able to move while shooting. It feels like it makes repositioning way too easy.

Also, Nibelsnarf armor is best armor, aesthetically.

Bow was always good though???

GLfags have inferiority complex, while Bowfags have superiority complex instead

We've only seen 2 areas out of 4 or 5, with little to no nighttime footage (which I assume is where we'd see shit like Narga, Gigi, etc if they're in) and no elders and shit yet.
We'll probably get a similar amount to what base 4 had, maybe less if they're revamping old momsters again like Rath seems to be.

>100 monsters
Are you out of your fucking mind? Look at the level of detail that they put into the ones they've shown off already; we're lucky if we get twenty monsters total with maybe a dozen returning

ok mr detective lol but i havent been in a mhw thread for awhile and people can do a magic trick where they type differently or similarly an its funny how u act liek you didnt just pull a strawman on me since you didnt reply to any point made instead just saying but i think i no u so nuh uh

Is it just something I'm missing then? The kill times seem pretty lackluster. The damage per shot isn't great and needs to be supplemented by coatings which they can't even carry as many of as gunners and they have all sorts of weird shots that seem pretty hard to get maximum damage out of.

>Gigi
user, I don't think he'll be returning
I hope he will never be returning

You don't remember people bitching about Kelbi Slingshot?

Charge shots nigga
And always do the followup power shot unless you need to dodge
Oh, and critical distance is important too

>The damage per shot isn't great
Bow has among the highest damage-per-attack in the game. In 4U the only weapons that had higher motion values were the Charge Blade UAED, the GS, and the Hammer golf swing

That charge cartwheel looks fun and looks like it'll add some fun stuff, although being able to cancel out of a charge into a superarmor shoulderbash is a bit weird and takes away a lot of risk of the weapon

youtube.com/watch?v=eYUVrz_at3c

You can turn it all off nigga, calm down. Selectively as well, if I understood the guy right.

Not entirely, if you can only cancel out forwards

Much better than khezu that's for damn sure

Well looks like I'm fucking retarded then, maybe I'll finally give it a go.

>that clipping
I really hope they fix that

I agree with that, I like having passives and skill progression. Even though I was a big fan of high-end consumables making some key skills less necessary (like disposable earplugs), getting a good set of skills is a big part of the addicting character progression since it was the only real way you got new abilities. That and item use has always been a bit clunky to me. Quick analog select helps, but I'd rather not have the down time.

Also fuck clownsuiting.

Are you blind? Have you seen how the Bow performs in recent games? It's without a doubt top tier. Besides, like the other user said, there's always that one over the top bow in each game. GL and HH on the other hand, always underperform. Brave GL is great though.

They're not popular weapons because imo they feel weak or cheesy, but they're really effective. Kelbi bow in 3U was absurd, and Steve bow in 4U shits out damage.

Seregios GL was better than Lance in 4U

Gigginox when

KHEZU FUCK OFF

I rather have a new leech wyvern instead of either
If they can opt for Kula Yaku instead of either memedromes or memeggis, I can't see why can't they do the same for leech wyverns

>tfw transmogging will never be seen again
It hurts more because we might never get to experience it since XX won't be localized and MHW didn't even mention this.

Are we even seeing release day resistances? i.e. did they only tweak the health to speed things up for the demo build or did they tweak resistances as well?

Actually, upon watching previous videos, it seems the heartbeat changes per quarter of health lost.

Calm down, you can turn it off. In fact you can apparently turn everything off.

Right now that's my most wanted feature. It seems like such an easy ask too.

4U really drove me nuts by having amazing looking armor with crap skills and garish optimal clownsuits. The ultimate kick in the teeth was finding out that full relic sets were god damn worthless.

After all of that work to get Kirin U. Never again.

youtu.be/6oialE6SGcw

Holy fuck hammer looks sexy with that new combo and adapted adept/brave charge moveset

Nigger XX is out right now on switch for anyone to play because it's region free

Not evade lancing you could literally back hop through everything

You slimy bastard

I though GL did the same thing?

You could sidestep everything with GL anyways and continuously keep up purple sharpness

Hammer's look solid. GL not so much

I'm aware of that, but since I know nothing about Japanese, navigating around Armor, Skills, Items, Decoration and Jewels sounds like it will be a huge pain in the ass.

I also don't see why they couldn't localize it, since Generations represents about half of the game.

>and continuously keep up purple sharpness
That goes for like all the Seregios weapons
Although for Lance I'd rather have an element for most monsters and Para for multiplayer in 4U

What's more, everything on the HUD can be disabled. You don't like it, disable it, you won't see it. Utter non-issue, and everyone who mentions it can be utterly disregarded.

Man it's MH, If you really wanted to play it, it's easy if you've played any other entry in the series, kill shit, carve shit, craft shit. The only confusing things for someone with no knowledge in nip are mandatory gathering quests, which there are like 3 of in the game, armor skills, palico skills, and weird shit like transmog and the item delivery system which you can more or less figure out along the way. Kiranico is really easy to use for specific shit and armor skills aren't even necessary to really enjoy the game, but can be searched if you really want to make a clown suit
