Every class except for Spy is viable in every situation, Just because you fall for situational traps doesn't make the game unbalanced.

the fact is that valve set the standard for class based shooters, and it wasnt with gameplay.
Blizzard took valve's playbook and topped it.
They pretty much have to have animated shorts, comics, unique characters, and sparse story. They have to be tailor made to form a cancerous fanbase.
The only way a new class shooter is going to usurp overwatch is to play the advertising game even better. Fuck gameplay, you just need literally everything else.

Paladins can get away with it because it's F2P and seems to be doing well. Battleborn had no excuse because while mechanically it was different, they were too late to downplay their similarities and focus on their differences. Not to mention the game is pretty shitty to newcomers because you have to unlock characters and gear for said characters, which means grinding out the ass or paying for them. Also means that the few people who actually have played a lot will beat your ass constantly.

That's the same one everyone else sees though, not hard proof.

Also they never bothered to address how both teams can have the same character. At least TF2 bothered to explain that one of the brothers just cloned the mercenaries that the other hired
