/backlog/ - I'm Actually Doing It This Time Edition

/backlog/ is a thread for all us Sup Forumsirgins who, due to an abundance of disposable income or just straight laziness, have developed a massive library of backlogged games that we never got around to playing or finishing and who now feel guilty about it.

The fight will be long and hard, but together we will succeed. Really bad games need not apply.

Here's how we're doing this.
>Post pictures of games not played.
>Have anons recommend which ones you play first and do the same for other anons.
>Discuss played games and general tactics on how to successfully organise, navigate and work through backlogs.
>Discuss reasons for backlogs and why we keep buying more games even though we don't finish them.
>If brave, post steamdb.info/calculator/ or equivalent stats.

Good luck anons!

These are the games I plan to finish first. I have nearly 200 more in my "complete later" category.

I think I'll start with Alien vs Predator 2010.

working through Silent Hill Homecoming.

Then ill probably play something else.... maybe..

steamdb.info/calculator/76561197980926660/?cc=us

i want to finish, but i dont feel i can. and this is just steam. i have a whole mess of games on GOG as well

I've got about 60-70 games to finish atm. I keep buying games to tick off my list though so the backlog keeps growing

I have TONS more games to play, but these are a handful of the console games I wanna play the most. Any suggestions as to which one I should go for next?

As for Steam games, here's what I've got. 1/?

God dammit I forgot the pic
1/?

my platinum trophy backlog is like 40-60 games long, not counting games i just need to finish without 100%ing
currently working on finishing persona 4, though idk if i'll bother platting it

Refund Arcania. It's shit. Not worth your time at all.

2/?

3/?

Idek what this game is and idk how it even got in my library, so I'll look into it and if it does seem shit I'll go ahead and do that.

On PS4 but
>Persona 5
>Yakuza 0
>Gravity Rush 2
>Just Cause 3
>Hitman
>Dishonored 2
>Valkyrie Chronicles
>Malicious Fallen
>Disgaea 5
>Darkest Dungeon

4/4

Why are PS2 games such unresponsive piles of shit? I'll never clear my backlog at this rate

I say Dishonored 2, then maybe Yakuza 0 (haven't played but it looks good), and then Persona 5. I'd say go right ahead to P5 but the other two are MUCH shorter, so you should get those two out of the way before diving in.

I've been using Completionator as motivation and it's kinda worked, but my backlog is so fucking huge that it's like wittling at Mt. Everest with a pickaxe. Also I recently decided to start trying some F2P multiplayer games and that doesn't help. Oh, and since OpenMW has had a stable release I decided to finally replay Morrowind.
Currently actively playing from my backlog Rogue Legacy and Dragon Warrior II.

Do you guys sell your games when you complete them? Most are mine are near worthless. The only thing I sold recently was FFXV which I immediately realised was a piece of shit.

I can't stop adding more games on top and I don't know why. I'm not even playing them fast enough to ever finish. I didn't finish Persona 5 until like last week and I got it at launch. Resisting the urge of buying like four games right now. Currently playing Nocturne and Sonic Mania. Here's some of what I might dive into next, give recommendation.

>Bravely Default
>FF7
>Bloodborne
>The Witcher 3 (kinda shit)
>Ratchet and Clank (remake)
>Hollow Knight
>LISA
>Transistor
>Fire Emblem Awakening
>Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance
>Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls
>Devil May Cry HD Collection
>Shadow of the Colossus
>Ghost Trick
>Torchlight II
>Fallout: New Vegas
>Mass Effect Trilogy
>KotOR

I don't feel like thinking of more right now. I'm going to stick with what I'm playing now but I want to shrink the backlog to nearly zero over the next few years.

Tiny and Big is pretty fun and decently short so it doesn't overstay its welcome. If you're looking for something to quickly dispatch off your list that's my suggestion.

Bought Breath of the Wild in March, I'm set on finishing it tonight. Other than that I have Half Life 2 and its episodes to play through but that shouldn't take long considering the lack of collectible shit to worry about.

God Hand, then FFX, then Ico.

I only sell games I don't like, which normally means I haven't finished them

>Want to work on backlog
>New Quake game comes out

Welp, some other time.

Xbone:
>Quantum break
>Fallout 3&4
>Sunset Overdrive
>Witcher 2&3
>Wolfenstein Old Blood
>Dead Space trilogy
>Rise of Tomb Raider
Please help.

Katamari would be pretty quick and is a ton of fun.

I have a backlog and a buybacklog of games I want to add to my backlog of unplayed games

>QB
>RotTR
>SO
There shit so you can just get rid of them
>Fallout 3 & 4
Can be completed in one long weekend each
>Dead Space
Only play 1 and 2, and they can be finished in an evening each if you put your mind to it
>Wolfenstein
Same as DS, way too short no finish in an evening
>Witcher
Save these till the end

Your backlog is tiny. I wish I'd narrowed down my backlog to such a small number of games

Sunset Overdrive
All three Bioshock games in order
ZoE or Nocturne, flip a coin
Short ones out of way first so Hotline Miami

>want to finish deus ex human revolution
>starting to get bored going through Derelict Row after shutting off the transmission there
fuck...

strawpoll.me/13786921
help me, vee :(

...

>Your backlog is tiny.
I have at least 20 more games on my backlog but only mentioned the ones i'm interested the most right now. Thanks.

I've actually played all the BioShock games ages ago on 360, just have them there so I can revisit them. Anything else you think I should go for?

Play Shadow of the Colossus, then LISA, and then get yourself balls deep in Bloodborne.

Also, don't play Ultra Despair Girls, it's bad. The gameplay is really mediocre, sluggish third-person shooter affair with bad puzzles and the story barely adds anything of value to the series lore. Plus the way it crowbars the parents of previous games' characters in is REALLY forced and pointless. Watch a playthrough or read a Wiki plot outline if you must.

Everything after Detroit is pretty shit apart from riot Detroit.

fuck, how much left of detroit do I have? how long is the game after riot detroit?

Jet Set Radio then buy Jet Set Radio Future

Most of the game is set after detroit. You don't have much of normal detroit left.

Did you play Deus Ex ? If so, it's kinda the same : America - Asia - America (fucked) then the baddy's secret base.
If you like Hong Kong in the first Deus Ex you'll like the next part of HR, though.

I haven't played the first game. Probably should have though, always hear great things. I'll keep going through HR and give the original a shot some time.

thief 1 and 2
tomb raider anniversary
tomb radier 1-3
bioshock 1 and 2
deus ex
final fantasy 7
MGS3
Spyro 1
Jak 2
RE 3

gunpoint was short and pretty charming, i'd recommend that

sotc then transistor

Resident Evil 4
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Bloodborne
World of Final Fantasy
Tales of Berseria
Hollow Knight
The Last of Us
Sonic Mania

send help

Sonic Mania, Resident Evil 4, Bloodborne, then The Last of Us

>Tales of the Abyss
>Tales of Symphonia
>Bravely Default
>dead rising
>Grim Fandango (haven't played since
>Dying
>Alien
>FF XII
>Deus Ex HR
>Drakenguard

been playing too many online gamea. Help!

Tomb Raider

Gravity Rush 2
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Devil May Cry 3
Fallout New Vegas
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
Valkyria Chronicles

This is old as hell. Since then I've acquired 9 more Vita games and 2 more PSP games, all of which I've beaten due to completely ignoring my backlog.
Also, I beat SotN.

Tomb Raider 1, FF7 and RE3 are the best games on your list.

if you haven't played shadow of the colossus play that instead of ico

Godhand

Double Dragon Neon

Ghost Trick

Dead Space Trilogy

Lone Survivor or Momodora -- Both are short so you can clear them easily.

Bioshock 1 and 2

World of Final Fantasy

Grim Fandango

Valkyria Chronicles

Tidy your apartment instead.

Dayumn I finished almost all my games you guys can't believe how exactly good it feels.

Lightning Returns (gave up around the first Noel fight out of boredom)
Infamous 1/2 collection
Peace Walker
Digimon Cyber Sleuth
FF Type-0 HD
Tropical Freeze
Any of the Hyrule Warriors adventure maps besides like 90% of the first one
Phantom Pain
Dead Rising 2
+ a bunch of classic games i've felt obligated for a long time to actually play but never get around to, like fallout 1+2 and morrowind.

tropical freeze

How did you do it? Did you stop getting new games?

I'm actually happy to see my backlog grow.

I'm at 15games finished this year and most of them include 2 playtroughs. Feels good to enjoy vidya.

Forgot pic. And it needs some updating.

Why do you guys do this to yourselves?
I just play whatever game I feel like playing at any given moment?

Just beat it. The ending was as cool visually as it was fucking easy. I had more trouble with the boss in the camel.

>he doesn't have a backlog that also includes books, movies, and tv series

Lolwut I'm not the only one that makes a spreadsheet??

Man that's a cute character but her game is so shit

I have around 300 games and it took me years to finish most of them or at least play some to the point of losing an interest and lable it as shit and hide it. Game to game was hidden and there were left 30 of them, which are pretty hard and long, damn it was hard and last 10 were the most hard and time consuming. It was a pure agony to wish to finish but lack of mood sometimes.
Now I buy new games and truly enjoing them with no looking back to a backlog and if I have interest in some hidden game I would play it and actually enjoy without thinking about backlog and shit. Fucking freedom man.

But I have dozens of games that I want to keep track of. There is also benefit in playing games in certain order. For example, I like to have one "big" game that I focus on during the day, some another more relaxed game to play while eating/relaxing on PC and finally some story driven game to play before going to sleep(preferably on handheld or at least playable on laptop).

All this planning to get most out of your games at every single moment in time requires thought. That's why I keep a backlog.

I actually keep tabs on what anime to watch but I rarely watch anything nowadays.

A lot of people at least use backloggery or something.

But man, I love me some Excels

Forgot my pic again

Because when you have too much choice it becomes impossible to make a concrete decision. People here commonly attribute it to autisim or Sup Forumsirginity, but sitting in front of a huge list of fun things to do and just staring at it without starting a single activity is an extremely common thing, not exclusively related to vidya.

Can I ask what your life is like? Are you a NEET? Didn't it feel odd equating video games to work? I feel the same way about the backlog too but I try to stop myself every time I start treating games like work because it fucks with my enjoyment of them. It also takes up time which I need to allocate into other things (though I'm decent at managing time if I really want to).

>just staring at it without starting a single activity is an extremely common thing
What evidence do you have for this aside from your anecdote?
I for one can easily just choose something randomly from a list and concentrate on it until I'm done.
What makes your anecdotal evidence better than mine?

>why do you guys
Motherfucker you just asked for an anecdote and he gave you one. Obviously it's common if we have so many people here with the same issue.

Not him but I'm curious about something.

Do you only play one game at a time? I need that 2-5 to fill my day. And I even have a job.

NEET, but it wasn't a work-like for me it was like a challenge and an obsession and self hatred what I bought a lot of games long time ago and do not playing them, and I just started doing that actually playing anything I want from a backlog and after years there were left not much and I pushed a little more harder with an obsession to fucking done with it. It was like a hobby and I had and have others, so it's not like my whole life at all but just a longass list of games money wasted which I MUST to finish as soon as possible and I did it.

Well I mostly play roguelikes, DF and grand strategy so there's a lot of replayability.
I've got 1000s of hours in several different games and still play them from time to time.

Fuck you.
I fuc you're mother

>2-5 to fill my day
I mean, you don't really. You could always do something other than play video games.

Wasn't really my question but I get you.
What I meant was, do you usually ONLY play a single game per day? Like, I have games that I play after work, on the evening, and before going to sleep. Add to that games that I rotate every other game.

>Add to that games that I rotate every other day*

Yes I usually focus on one game for a week or a month at a time, but I also have several different hobbies besides vidya so it doesn't take up all my free time.

The games that I have on "rotation" usually take up weeks and month of my time.

> but I also have several different hobbies besides vidya so it doesn't take up all my free time.
Maybe that's it. I just don't have anything else, nor am I interested in anything else.

>nor am I interested in anything else.
Have you tried everything else?

I tried playing basketball but I got winded after about thirty seconds so I quit.

Everything? Of course not.
But I have tried
>playing guitar/piano
>riding BMX, snowboarding, park our
Though I liked all 3 and did them for years at a time, I just lost interest at some point

Maybe going to raves? I still love electronic music and I used to go raves every now and then. While fun, it's not something I bother anymore.

So you haven't tried everything else.
Then how can you know you're not interested in anything else?
For example I've never tried raping but I'm sure I'd be very interested in it given the chance.

I can't finish games while looking at this shithole

...

...

We'll make it one day

Machinarium is finish-able in a couple of days.

>Dark Souls II: Base game complete, got lost in the labyrinth in the DLC, got bored
>Dark Souls III: Killed the giant with the storm blade thing, couldn't find a place to go from there, got bored.
>VtmB: VV got mad at me for not killing the hunter subtly even though I did everything right, got pissed, stopped playing.
The rest were barely played

You're not gonna make it

is there an acountless site that i can just easily add games and sort by platform and self-made categories?

I do, but I just keep it in a text file. Hadn't really thought of makign a spreadsheet.

Backloggery and there's one posted here I haven't used called completionator

I did a backlog marathon last year.

Got through 70+ games and beat every single PS3 RPG and platinumed it, including all the PS3 disgaeas.

Just finished Final Fantasy 12 and Steins; Gate I'm not on Trails of Coldsteel 2.
