He doesn't usually run as fast as at the start of the webm, it's a temporary boost you get from springing out of a pole. However, Mario seems to be at least a bit less floaty in this than in the post Galaxy games.

I dunno, I'm trying really super hard to get hyped for this, but I'm just not feeling it. I'm not even exactly sure why I'm so underwhelmed. I do like how much freedom you have and some of the moves but that's mostly it.

Game looks boring dude. All these webms showing me wide open spaces with literally nothing in them. The fact that Mario can literally fly by throwing his hat mid air constantly has effectively removed tension from every jump. Mario looks completely out of placed as the 2 ft manlet vs all the regular people walking around. The environment graphics have all been updated by Mario looks like he's from Sunshine. So many issues. So little self awareness from Ninty.

I haven't seen a single instance of Mario doing the hat bounce more than one time in a single jump. And the normal people are in one world, which has the gimmick of being a more 'normal city' world.

No. He was doing the roll move, which you do with buttons but it gives you an option to boost speed by waggle.

Ignore that, it doesn't boost, it's just a different option for the input.
