Ragnarok Online

...

FF1, the Monk doesn't need anything but levels and he becomes stupid powerful. can't do anything about groups, but he can destroy a single enemy no sweat.

alyas not a monk she's a fucking cavewoman
monk does not mean "somebody who punches shit"
fucking gamers

Star Ocean 2
DQ9
Etrian Odyssey 3
Shit, I'm drawing a blank now.

Yea

Neverwinter Nights

>doesnt use weapon or magic

shes a monk by the class definition

>tfw cheesing the entire game with 4 naked monks

Brawler fits better.

>Star Ocean 2
You best be talking about best boy Bowman

same shit.

Ayla is so cool.
I fucking hate FF1 Monks. They're almost as worthless as Thieves for the whole beginning, and then at the end, they're absolutely broken. I never use them.

These heal sluts in Shining force 2 where stronk as fuck

Monks in FF Tactics are really good

POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS POISON PILLS

>abs
>no arm muscles
I don't get it.

>Poison Pills
Nah, EXPLOSION PILLS is where it's at.

Low bodyfat percentage.

abs are easy to get

DQIII and IV, FFI, FFIII, FFVI-VIII with Zell being especially broken, Wizardry VI-VIII, BG2

...

Pillars of Eternity

Technically, you are a monk-tier in Sleeping Dogs with the punches you can throw.

Oddly enough I can't think of anything else and I love playing monks in D&D

>not using all vampires

from the thumbnail i though this was some sort of small reptile anthro character looking down and to the left

this is very true, since the beginning of the game until you reach Melmond is the most irritating part of the game for how long it really takes to get going.

...

>abs
>no arm muscles
She rolls into a ball like sonic the hedgehog to attack.

Even without breaking the system or mastering his Limit he is far and away the best party member

Monks in Final Fantasy 5 offer the highest hit points on top of a few cool abilities.
Unarmed characters are viable in Fallout 1/2, especially the latter, where high enough Unarmed lets you use armor piercing + high crit kung fu moves.
Hell, nothing says you can't play New Vegas as a light armored Unarmed character.
Lee Sin was a staple character of League of Legends for the longest time and they nerfed and nerfed him more and more, but he should still be epic. Granted, you shouldn't play League of Legends, it's shit.
Neverwinter Nights has good stuff for monks and you can also use the class as a great "dip" for multiclassing characters.
Monks in Baldur's Gate 2 work alright. They get some cool abilities per level, including the ability to kill dragons in one punch (...if you're lucky).
Monks are interesting in ADOM - their ascetic lifestyles make them virtually never go hungry (in a game where you scavenge monster corpses to survive) and they get a couple of cool mobility moves on top of good damage. Monks can also be decent spellcasters and generally are good at survival. You get some annoyances like going over carrying capacity debilitating you extremely painfully or starting with no gold, but Monks generally work.

Seiken Densetsu 3's monk class was broken, double attacks, party buffs, group healing

he was also a half furry retard

I had abs before I ever hit the gym, getting arms took serious work.

Came in here to post this. The only Final Fantasy game where Monk isn't total shit.

But Ayla is one of the 3 best characters in CT along with Robot and Crono.

What a highly specific thread

Brewmasters are currently one of the best tanks in WoW

Mistweaver and Windwalkers aren't good though

I set Galuf in FFV to be a monk and he pretty much solo'd certain encounters

Nah. They're good in tactics, solid in 3 and 5, tifa is good, zell is good, they're usually good in 14, punching is strong as fuck in 2, Yang is solid in 4, Sabin is good in 6, amarant wasn't bad.

Maybe I'm letting my recent experiences with FFXI overshadow my playthroughs of all those other games.

Skinny ass guys can have abs too. Yeah, some muscle work is required but it's the low fat percentage that really shapes it.

Indeed, punch art is Tactics is good even as a secondary skill. Feels good when enemies fall dead successively in one earth slash.

My chest and arms are really big, but I always have this tube around the bottom of my stomach and hips. Frustrating.

SD3
He's busted as shit. Pair him with the Amazon and everything dies and he doesn't.

yeah, "total shit" is an exagerration, BUT monks are middling in pretty much every FF.

>tactics
They're great
>solid in 3 and 5
middling
>tifa is good
character classes don't really exist in 7 (despite appearances)
>zell is good
same as 7, everyone's a template
>punching is strong as fuck in 2
bc it's broken
>Yang is solid in 4
middling
>Sabin is good in 6
only for a brief window when he has the strongest weapon you can get, then middling
>amarant wasn't bad
middling

don't forget your Earth Clothes, yeah it's a power los, but free healing and a chance to smack an enemy and heal an ally.

dark ages, old mmo

Galuf was an MVP most the time.
At the part where he has to 1v1 Exdeath I had him set as a White Mage. Life is suffering.

FF5's Monk is good in act 1, but a liability after that

This. Kevin is god mode and the other characters are just along for the ride.

Punching is broken in 2 but also not good because shields are stupidly good.

I think we're arguing semantics, solid for me is like middling to upper middling. You could do well in 3 with masters and monks in 5. You don't have to be GOAT to be solid.

Monk's pretty good in Hots.

Is it even possible to lose that battle?
also
>pretending characters matter in FFV

Probably diet. I went from skeletor to fit, sounds like you went from chubby to fit.

You're right solid = middling, I wasn't necessarily trying to "correct" you there, just noting it

Everquest, to a point. Far and away the best melee dps for the first 5-7 expansions, best pullers forever, and in a pinch can tank group content (worse than ranger but they'll get the job done).

Yep that's actually right

monks used to be super powerful in FFXI, currently they are the weakest DD, but in the games past there would be parties consisting of nothing but monks and a tank that could kill enemies fast enough that healing wouldn't be necessary outside of what a paladin could do.

Asuran Fists is still one of my favorite abilities in any game tho

>Is it even possible to lose that battle?
According to this video you can lose, but the plot still moves. I mean, it makes sense. youtu.be/x-pAMCwleLA

ah, k

Ramza as a monk in FFT is essentially him touching people with a Vulcan nerve pinch and them falling over dead

>Tifa
>character classes don't really exist in 7 (despite appearances)
To be fair, Tifa is the best mage in the game.

>Zell
>same as 7, everyone's a template
To be fair, Zell has the strongest limit break in the game (unless you count Selphie's The End on technicality).

>Yang
>middling
In the versions where you can still use him after the Giant of Babil, he's one of the strongest characters in the game.

>Sabin
>only for a brief window when he has the strongest weapon you can get, then middling
He's in the top 5 with Edgar, Celes, Terra, and Relm if you build him as a muscle wizard.

...

Girls can't be monks you silly billy. Typically they have shitty brave.
