Only difference between SCART and Component cables is progressive scan, which most PS2 games didn't support.

Most of the good games have been ported.

So far I played Final Fantasy X, X-2 and Silent hill 4 on pcsx2 and they all worked fine, some textures missing on X-2

But some games like Jak and Daxter and sequels have too many graphical errors to be considered playable

PS2 emulation is good guys, you just have to look up the wiki configure the settings every time you play a different game, and then put up with weird texture bugs and graphical glitches!

You want to buy Component (not composite, what you posted) cables. There are 5 cables coloured green, blue, red, white, red. The version for the PS3 works on a PS2 as well.

The same reason you can't plug a SNES or n64 into your HD TV and have it work

SNES and N64 use 240p timing which fucks up a lot of HDTVs. A PS2 won't do that except in a very small number of games.

Certain CRTs have inputs for that. Count yourself lucky if you own such a CRT, because that's the best quality.
You could also just use a true RGB SCART cable rather than one of those composite adaptors. That'll definitely work in a CRT, and if you're using a PS2 then the advantages of component (progressive scan) will be slim.

It's fucked for a variety of reasons.

Both are great. #1 recommendation for emulation. Grim Grimoire is a strong #2 but I can think of a few other candidates.

I don't know what it is about ps2 games but almost always if you actually buy those from flee markets and shit the discs are scratched to hell and back. Just luck if your ps2 will run those. Finally bothered to mod memorycard to run freemcboot but even that is pain in the ass if you're running games from usb stick.

Emu sucks for those games because using hardware render is smooth but fucked up terrain. Switching to software rendering makes game slow and fucked up sound but right terrain.
