People shit on Witcher 3 for its combat

>People shit on Witcher 3 for its combat
>Praise shit like New Vegas and Planescape

LOL

Planescape and FNV weren't as popular as other games so Sup Forums doesn't feel the need to be contrarian.

What else is there to do in Witcher 3 other than combat? Follow the red trail? LOL.

I think all three of those games suck.

all of those games are garbage liked by fedoras

hmm its almost like rpg newfags can't handle combat that isn't to their CoD-addled minds, and are not the same people that enjoy planescape or new vegas

Fallout New Vegas may not have deep or complex combat mechanics but punching a guy into exploding body parts is hella satisfying

Also Planescape has one of the most hilariously ridiculous magic systems I've ever seen, it's not good combat by any means but FUN to look at
It's also a very small part of the game

Witcher 3 is 90% combat

Anything bathesda is shit.

The craziest part is that Witcher 3's combat isn't even bad. I think its detractors had to latch onto the one element of the game that wasn't spectacular to even have a hope of convincing people it's not a good game.

New Vegas fags infested this board for years when they immigrated from reddit. Now they've basically enforced a "Bethesda games suck" narrative and pretend to be a horde of old fags but it's really like 20+ retards. Just look at New Vegas threads, it's the same 10 dudes bumping the thread and asking the same questions they asked the night before for 10 years

Witcher 3 did not have the depth of an RPG and the many ways to approach combat like FNV had.

You basically had one weapon, one moveset the entire game, several spells. It had the depth of a 12 hour action game, but was a 100 hour RPG. So it needed to be a little more engaging because of how simple and monotone it was.

Holy crackers whos that cutie on the far right

Yeah OK NVFag

Literally no one has praised PS:T's combat.

The catastrophically boring combat is especially dissapointing because the rest of the game is so good. To make matter worse, it's the damn gameplay loop you actually do during 99% of the game.

At this point I'm a bit scared that Cyberpunk 2077 will have the same "cyberdetector trail to the location>mouse1 spam till dead" gameplay and they'll ruin a truly promising setting.

This exactly.
I dismiss the people saying The Witcher 3 is bad because of the combat as barely of age consolekiddies that have never played any of the great crpgs of the past.

>latch onto the one element of the game

Oh boy here come the Witcher shills...yes that's the only thing wrong with the game not

>handholding red lines everywhere, no player initiative whatsoever, just follow the red line and watch interactive movie
>clunky, subpar horse controls and animations
>absolutely awful boat controls boat ""combat"" and underwater ""combat""
>difficulty curve gets completely fucked 10 hours in
>retarded meanginless MMO itemization, 99% of items items vendor trash
>villains that make Bioware look good
>shitty ending and last third act

Johnny.

Well there's a few bad opinions in there but you make some good points, but ultimately they're minor concerns when you're so utterly drawn into the world of the game.
In particular the fact that you thought following a monster's trail and learning what it is and how to fight it was 'handholding' is just a really bad opinion, sounds like you wanted to hate it and want others to hate it too.

>but ultimately they're minor concerns when you're so utterly drawn into the world of the game

No they're not minor concerns.
>game promises to end trilogy on a high note
>absolutely fails on every way to pick up and finish plot-lines started in previous games, ignores most, completely transforms other so they're stupid and generic as possible.

>Instead picks up the plot from the last books, but retcons everything that was ever interesting about the characters. Retcons the entire point of the book saga to have a retarded generic ending where everyone can live happily ever after.

And "writing" was supposed to be the game's strongsuit

>n particular the fact that you thought following a monster's trail and learning what it is and how to fight it was 'handholding' is just a really bad opinion
Not him but I kinda agree. I think that aspect of the game could have been handled better by CDPR and involve more player initiative, like he said. As it stands, following the red lines everywhere is easy as fuck and there's zero chance for failure. The results of the investigation are even spoonfed to you afterwards via Geralt and the journal so there's very little done by the actual player. It's an alright mechanic for exposition since it's not just another cutscene and there's a little bit of exploration there but I still think that it could have been done better.

That said, I do understand why CDPR had to make it so easy. I'm just hoping they're able to fully realise Cyberpunk without being weighed down by shitty players as a result of becoming more accessible.
