Over the years game story and characters are getting worse

Over the years game story and characters are getting worse.
Graphics on the other hand are getting better and better.

If we compromise to get the best possible of both at the same time, then the best games come from the 2008-2012 era.

>Over the years game story and characters are getting worse.
Lmao kys

Have you ever played old games?

Have you ever dealt in non retarded generalizations?

Sorry for hurting your fragile feelings.

t. idiot obsessed with the past

stop thinking about the past as the best era. there was shit, a lot of shit, maybe even more than today. you just don't remember it because it was shit, so everybody forgot about it and all people remembers about the past is the good stuff.

and yeah, that applies to pretty much everything, not just vydia

point and clicks aren't games

>Over the years game story and characters are getting worse.
OP, have you listened to the Hong Kong/France characters in Deus Ex?

Or played the millions of Arena Shooters with but a skeleton of a story.

>everything new is better

Oh please.

I mean, compare games like Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Overall I have to say I prefer Morrowind, even though it has many bad aspects it's still a better game.

So your beef is with a (real or perceived) decline in the quality of TES games.

Don't take it out on the entirety of contemporary games.

Quick, look up games made in 1990 and tell me about their awesome stories...

...

not really

post old games that beat the witcher

Witcher 1 was better than Witcher 2.

>90s
>Plumber runs to the right and saves the princess
>Now
>an Italian runs to the right on the new iPhone 7s

wow.....

post good old game with good story and characters to see if you have anything to back up your opinion other than
>it was better before lmao

The Story line actually should more represent some sort of bell curve that slowly turns into a sine wave while the Graphics line resembles a projected hurrican path that curves upwards as it goes right and then hits an impassable ceiling.

>Today
Epic tales rivaling those of other media like books or Movies
>1990s
There is no actual in-game story. Story is summed up in the game's manual instead.

The old games worth playing didn't really have stories besides a simple and loose back story. Wasn't until mid 2000s where people started falling for the "muh story driven experience" meme where gameplay was compromised

20 years ago people made the same graphs about 1970 and 2000.

recent games have a story told by cut scenes instead of being part of the game, i don't enjoy that

Sup Forums archaeology best archaeology.

...

...

?==2008

After the recession. No-one was able to build stupidly overpowered gaming rigs anymore so focus was shifted to games that could run on even the most underpowered PCs.

You can't dispute it

So games from 2016 have a story as good as games from 2010 but better graphics?

>recent games have a story told by cut scenes
That's been true since Pac-Man, you stupid fuck.

Are you incapable of reading charts?

>implying games with no story aren't better gameplay experiences

I guess this is what happens when you start on the xbox 360

I disagree with the chart. There's many game developing companies that dont follow the norm of what this chart represents.

Even Hollywood movies follow that chart.

holy moly back when people had names

Back when fucking what? Sup Forums exists since 2003

Nice scientific research OP, a very fine and educational graph you plotted here.

Thank you for your service.

Artstyles and gameplay have become worse as well.
