Valkyria Chronicles would probably be a better option. It's not technically a shooter, really being more of a turn-based squad combat game with aiming, but a good number of the cast are girls and are cute.

Apparently it is some low-quality Vanquish, not at all like Splatoon. You can slide with the water gauge and even fly/hover with it, along with shooting before you need to reload. As such, the main factor is really which gun you want to use, and there are apparently one or two guns which are vastly better than the others. So it makes choices rather boring.

There's also a card collecting minigame and you can use cards as abilities with a cooldown timer, but that seems fairly random since there are a bunch and you get them out of virtual booster packs.

Shouldn't the water guns and stuff be based on the weapons the girls actually use? I feel like it's kind of a missed opportunity. One of the reasons why Splatoon is so great is because the weapons are so weird and based on real world objects repurposed to shoot ink. Like they should have swords that shoot water and stuff. That would be cool.

Now I want Murasaki with spinning hair sprinklers. The problem there is that there are so many girls that just use swords or knives and you cant really make that a watergun style weapon..

Maybe don't have a unique weapon for each character, but have something inspired by their weapons and make it so everyone could use them.

I guess they'd still need to have regular water guns and similar things for ranged weapons, but for melee weapons they could make them like the brushes in Splatoon and shoot water within a short distance when you attack with them.

Bullet Girls 2 is at least three times better than PBS. PBS isn't even a shooter, the game aims for you, the cards basically make it unfun, and the maps and core mechanics fucking suck. The only bad parts in BG2 were the stealth missions and the interrogations early on, other than that it's a decent RE4 ripoff with cute girls, less tanky movement, decent weapon variety and cuhrazee boss fightsand certain standout missions.

SK:PBS has none of that.
