Skirmishers > Templars > Reapers
XCOM
and by what standards do you judge them?
Battlefield efficiency.
I'd say Templars and Skirmishers are roughly equal broski. Reaper's best trait is being invisible all the time and being able to one shot big enemies with banish and a repeater.
Templars are the coolest.
This game really needed a MEC-focussed faction.
Then you are a moron.
Reapers>templars>skirmishers
Reapers provide unique scouting, situational pod wiping and ability to delete chosen/rulers/anything you want int a single turn with banish+extended mag+repeater.
Templars provide tanking and guaranteed damage.
Skirmishers shoot a lot.
Pratal Mox > Templar > Reaper > Skirmisher
This, Skirmishers seem a little shit, sure they're the strongest unit at the lowest rank, but as you get more talents the others beat em out.
The argument I'm assuming OP will make is action economy. Something that doesn't even matter later game when you have t3 bonds everywhere and psionics to do the same thing.
I was so happy when the soldier I made after myself got a bond with Mox.
Bro-team GOAT
Which one helps me the most early game?
Reaper or Skirmisher depending on your play style. Templar comes into it's own when you've got full size squads and a full bag of tricks.
Straight outta Farscape
which one would u fug ?
every time that teleport-behind-u whore appear i get so hard
Skirmisher, probably
doublefire, displacement, grapple
Reaper seems soso unless you're big on slow scouting, but once it gets Claymore it becomes better - then Remote Fire(which doesn't even break Shadow and can blow up trucks n' shit) and even more amazing things
Beyond Parry being good to pull a single remaining enemy's shot in the early, Templar isn't too great but slides nicely into the endgame
>sure they're the strongest unit at the lowest rank
Sorry what? In my experience Skirmishers are straight garbage.
Their gun does shit damage and their abilities are trash compared to the other two.
There is no reason to ever use a Skirmisher over a Reaper or a Templar.
skirmishers
imo reapers don't get good until their weapon upgrade + not breaking concealment on kills, until then you almost use them exclusively for their claymore/scouting
and templars are too weak to do enough damage to kill early game
>spending your ability points on early skills
You're all fucking retarded
>Warlock shows up for the first time on an facility sabotage mission
>get super nervous because he seems like he has endboss tier bullshit
>notice he takes extra damage from explosives
>my Reaper is still in concealment
>get her to remote start the generator that Warlock is standing near
>the ensuing explosion is so intense it destroys half the roof, kills 3 aliens inside the facility that I didn't see, and sends the Warlock flying off screen
I proceeded to stab him to death in his final showdown, kind of sad really
God I wish my warlock was weak to explosions, I got shitty melee weakness instead
My assassin takes double damage from grenades, and literally throws herself into the middle of my squad, it's fucking great.
You got your arrows the wrong way around boyo.
Reapers are fucking broken if you use them right.
i dont know mind i managed to get that gay beacon as a reaper on the ufo def mission. Also used remote start to Blow 3 berserkers up in the previous turn.
>trying to git gud at XC2 before I buy WotC
>after several files and attempts I finally got through my first blacksite
>3 Gravely Wounded and 2 dead
What am I doing WRONG?
Play to your soldiers spec
>blacksite?
isnt that a enemy base you need to blow up
Try stealth up to the very last bit with a ranger
i want assassin to ride me like an amazon bareback!
What enemy can't you stand and why? I hate the vipers because they would always glitch out on my when I first played when they did their grab attack
Those Big Daddy looking biosuits with the little alien inside.
Oh great I killed you and now I have to kill you again so fun.
Real question is which faction is the MANLIEST
In which case Skirmishers > Templars > Reapers definitely.
Skirmishers on top because they're fucking manly men who face their opponents head on. Reapers last because they're little nancy boys who gotta hide in the shadows like scared little girls
>Skirmishers on top because they're fucking manly men who face their opponents head on.
Templars are the melee specialists though.
Stun lancers
Every other answer is wrong
Templar is definitely the manliest, they kill fuckin xenos with their bare hands and can even kill enemies just through sheer force of anger and hatred
Archon Ruler, fuck your orbital strike move that I cannot avoid.
Skirmishers saved my ass so many times. Not to mention that they are the best initiators.
Guys, what's the general consensus on this, is it worth getting? I've had bad experiences with games where they calculate how likely you are to hit targets, Jagged Alliance 2: Back in Action
>purchase decent merc sniper
>dump points into marksmanship and dex
>kit sniper out with best rifle and scope
>see some fuccboi enemy with a t-shirt and jorts standing in the open
>get my sniper into position prone, enemy still doesn't notice me
>aim for headshot "excellent chance to hit"
>fire
>miss
>fire
>miss
>fire
>miss
>fuccboi starts running out in the open towards me
>he shreds my armor with a shitty starter revolver from 40 yards away
>i miss a few more shots that tell me they are certain to hit
>finally get lucky and down the guy
>$200 worth of bullets gone, $7,000 worth of armor shredded, barely survived against the first bum in a t-shirt with a revolver i came across
I've heard horror stories of the recent XCOM games being like that.
>Alien Rulers
My faith in Jake Solomon was permanently shaken after he saw this shit and said "yeah, that looks good"
Why is hunter such a bro?
I don't want to kill him.
Did they get toned down in wotc or is the berserker queen just broken? She rarely does anything after each action
One thing I dislike about this game is the number of "human DNA" aliens. EU's ayys were better.
>kill an Advent soldier on a mission with the Hunter
>"If Advent were any good, they wouldn't have needed me"
Hunter is based
With WotC they only react to moves they can see. You can literally snipe them to death without a single reaction.
>With WotC they only react to moves they can see.
>haven defense mission
>all goes smooth, resistance dudes shoot like fucking marksman, can hold the ground very well
>warlock appears, summons lame suicide zombies
>at the last entrenched civilians, protected by 5 resistance dudes
>under pressure by mutons
>get closer to the warlock
>sniper colonel goes in position
>warlock mindcontrolls him
>resistance dudes open fire on my mindcontrolled sniper, killing him, ignoring the mutons
>bonded heavy goes berserk and rampages
>its a bloody mess
oh well, when i went to kill him of for good in his stronghold, every soldier got a mindshield.
Firaxis balancing at its finest
Templars can one-shot most of the early enemies from the get go
Early game Reapers because scouting
mid game templars because high damage per turn
endgame Skirmishers because nearly endless turns
But all are pretty solid, worth ranking up and using. except maybe Templar who are wieners at low ranks.
>alien facility mission
>laughingreapers.jpg
templars save games
>capture or kill VIP
>they're always near a car
I beat the game today without ever meeting the templars. Did I miss out? The final mission was super easy.
yeah they really should have set them to wander.
That's some team rocket shit.
None of them are as manly as XCom's own elite force.
Templar are actually the worst of the new classes.
They are solid after they rank up a bit, but before that they are basically just a hunter that get an extra dash after melee, but with a pistol.
Stealth ranger + overwatch traps nigga
But you can't play them all flawlessly, so you might be just fine.
Goddamnit who let Vahlen get her hands on the gene splicer again?
>not wanting your soldiers infused with Berserker genes to make them strong and unstoppable engines of destruction
#ELDERSGREATESTCHAMPION
This probably some undiagnosed autism shit I got going on but did they add a way to set a sort of "default" uniform? I got this thing going on where I like to make all of my rookies faceless generic grunts and then as they move up in rank they lose the helmet and start getting more distinctive features and more defining armor
Nah. People just don't realize 95% means you WILL miss 1 in 20 of those, and they latch onto that.
It's become a meme.
First one is definitely worth the money, get the xpac.
Second one's a bit uninspired.
That might be a mod.
They're like little babies compared to the berserkers.
Cute really.
Do they even inject purified meld into their sarcomas LOL?
With mods yeah. Otherwise you'll have to set it manually for everyone.
And you won't ever have 'grunts' in vanilla. You'll have one, MAYBE 2 teams of supersoldiers.
Play longwar if you want to decorate grunts that survive to veterancy.
first time i saw him he got executed by a shitty random squaddie I brought with me
Vanilla game is shit but mods do a good job of making it decent
Skirmishes are boring as hell thematically. How do you made the alien hybrid faction the most boring ones?
>capture or kill VIP
>Hack a security tower
>Reward is control over a single enemy unit
>It picks the VIP, who's completely alone in a building
>Walk them out of the building to the evac zone
>Finish the mission firing only once on an automatic overwatch reaction shot when I'm spotted at the end
Reapers can kill any pod in one turn and with no loss of concealment. The other two are worthless in comparison.
yeah but only at near max rank. Which any other class can do as well.
Apparently there was going to be a 4th Android faction and a grenadier based chosen but they got cut.
>Use the evac all mod for my run
>Get to the mission to save Pratal Mox
>Effortlessly pull him out without even ringing the alarm
>Call skyranger ezpz
>Use evac all
>Suddenly his model vanishes
>MISSION FAILED
>Assassin calls me a faggot and he's out of my game forever
>Have to restart because ironman and do the fucking reaper/skirmisher meeting mission again
The shit I do for Worf to be in my game.
>Grenadier based chosen
That sounds like as awful as an idea as the Alien rulers.
>he didn't know about the evac-all VIP issue
This is why you read the mod page.
The only way you die in XCom is by activating enemy pods that you didnt know were there.
Thats why Reaper>Templar>Skirmisher is the only correct answer.
Having a basically invisible scout unit is just priceless.
Don't need androids when you have superior SPARKS.
Kill left, fuck right, marry middle.
Someone buy this video game for me. I'll suck your dick
>Evac all is a mod
Why the hell isn't that in the expansion, I can see why they forgot in the base game, but no excuse to add that option in the expansion.
Have they cut out the SPARK mission for War of the chosen campaign ?
I was able to build SPARK from the get-go.
I think it's an option at the beginning to turn the mission off or on and it's off by default. Not sure though.
Yeah, that's it. Thanks.
What? Didn't you always need a proving ground?
yeah
it's part of the "intergrated dlc"
you don't get the alien rulers mission either
