it is a bit yeah, recently played both games and they were pretty good, though the story can get a bit difficult to get sometimes
Hopefully the third game does well and we get a fourth with strife and a conclusion to the series
It's decent.
Repetitive and predictable. But very decent.
they said there's going to be a fifth game, and you'll play all of them
IMHO, it's justly rated. The game is a complete package, competent gameplay, technically okay graphics, fine controls, ect.
That being said, none of the previous point ever go above or beyond. They're all fine; not amazing.
The story and setting are kinda meh. Nothing special. Kind of feels like a generic dark comic got turned into a videogame.
I got about 2/3 through the first game and lost all interest. The gameplay and setting wasn't enough for me to play past 20hrs or so.
Just a shitty Zelda clone
I love both games.
>over the top design
>fun combat
>really good music
>puzzles
What recent games are like this? Last one I played was the remastered God of War 3.
>No one ever talks about it
it's 7 years old and it wasn't an amazing game.
it was talked about quite a bit after it came out. there were even a bit of a revival of threads for about a month after the HD releases came out not too long ago.
Never played any Zelda games, they seem a bit more sterile.
I only played the first game and I really liked it. The other games I just never got around too plus I wanted to play ask War some moar
BRINg BACK MY WAIFu
do you just go into every action thread that has lock on and items and post the same exact thing?
I fondly remember getting it at launch and I knew I was in for a ride after staring and listening to the menu theme.

They're pretty good games.
A little disappointed in the second one for the gear aspects of it in addition to the new and rather absurd charge for getting new attack abilities.
Otherwise it's alright and goes it's job pretty well.
I think the upcoming third game will make or break the series, I'd love to see more because War is a fun character and I enjoy his play style of being a goddamn mountain.
It's not underrated. It's just decent enough, but not great.
>Is this series really underrated
Can't really say since the series is a mixed bag in itself. It's been quite a long time since I played the first one but I remember it being kind of stiff and clumsy but a decent God of War clone nonetheless. The second game is a major improvement in my opinion. I love how fluent the combat feels and the RPG elements were a nice addition too. My only complaint is that the game was a bit too easy even on the highest difficulty level. The Darksiders games could be top tier hack and slash games if they were polished properly and all those little issues were fixed. Nonetheless, I have moderate hype for the upcoming Darksiders III. I hope the series keeps improving and the third game is even better than the second one.
Uriel best girl
The first one is one of the games I come back to and do a play-through once a year.
Never got above 10 minutes on the second one because it had mayor frame issues which hurt my eyes. Never found out if it was supposed to run like that or if it was something on my end.
she better be in 3 again.
From what we've been told so far Fury is the most technical of the Riders and lacks the others strength, meaning she is very cunning and cruel in fights.
From a gameplay standpoint I would like to see how this translates into combos.
I liked first game's biblical theme and darker graphics. But didn't like second's cartoonish graphics.
Playing warmastered, it has it's moments but it's kinda boring. Hoping DS2 is better.
Rate my cosplay
No one talks about it because it's old and we're waiting for more information about the third one
Nah they're justly rated. They're mechanically sound games that suffer from a lack of originality and an overarching sense of repetition due to how much the game borrows mechanically from others and from it's shoddy structure. DS1's latter half just became white noise because of how fucking repetitive those shitty portal puzzles were. I like the story/lore but alot of times characters just spout obscure lore names to a point where you can get lost trying to figure out who is who.
...
nice nips
>not making the whole thing out of cardboard and foil
Post yfw you lived to see the day when Darksiders 3 isn't just a meme.
kek didn't the collectors edition have a wearable mask why not use that?
>Darksiders III is finally coming out
>Dante's Inferno sequel never ever
Kind of, there were a lot of people talking about it when 3 was announced though. They're in the woodwork.
Brother..
I would say it sucks a ton of stuff from zelda. It's not exactly a clone because it does bring stuff from other games too, but it isn't really original.
It's a good game, has some interesting stuff and good gameplay, good quality and so on. It's just not much more than good.
>Dante's Inferno sequel never ever
Oh user, please, there's hope, and then there's just straight delusion, you can still return to the real world!
eh
What would you even fight in a sequel? Didn't he end up in heaven or whatever?
But Dante's Inferno was bad, even if it had some cool set pieces
The new design looks really odd and the gameplay very shitty. Here's to hoping they change that.
She looks like a tranny.
I know they don't have the same budget they used to but that looks awful.
Purgatory would be the next step obviously, especially since the first game promised us a sequel.
who would win?
To be fair, this was from the early alpha.
It's an ok game. I really hated the puzzles tho, it just feels odd to be a rider of the apocalypse solving goddamn puzzles
I really like the series and i'm looking forward for the next one but the MC looks so fucking bad in the 3rd one. Why couldn't make her look like she does in previous games' drawings.
Is purgatory supposed to be filled with grotesque monsters too or?
War.
Fucking aeons of beating the shit out of monsters that he's barely even a spec compared to vs. some fucker that hops around a lot.
War's got this no contest.
is darksiders 1 really bad or am i just retarded. when i played it everything felt very... chunky? sterile? felt like a bad xbox original game. Its really hard to pinpoint what exactly i hated about it so im wondering if i just didn't play it long enough or if Darksiders II is one of those games- like the runefactory series- where you skip the first and go straight to the next because its an improvement in every single way.
more (you)s for the fire. good job user
Depending on who you ask it's Heaven's waiting list, the waiting list for Reincarnation or the waiting list for eternity because while you weren't an evil sack of shit you weren't exactly a good person either.
Those words mean nothing these days.
According to the Divine Comedy, it's where those who can redeem their sins do so, so that they may enter Earthy Paradise (No entry to true Heaven, though)
So...it's better than Zelda
>gotcha. gonna load this game up now since it's been sitting there for years in my Steam library
Darksiders 1 was clunky because it was the first game with the devs cutting their teeth on it.
It also made sense since every bit of media related to the game tells us that War is the youngest and slowest of the four.
Not to excuse the clunkiness in places but after a while of playing you start getting some items that makes things feel a little tighter.
Darksiders 2 does a lot of stuff better than Darksiders 1, with Death being fast and able to cancel out of all attack animations into a dodge.
It's also a lot faster paced too, outside of puzzles and a couple of dungeons.
good taste
After reading the novels and comics I still don't get why Death was the 2nd game?
I mean for War it's clear
>blah blah some seals broke
>you are the first rider in the bible
All i got is that Death liked War the most from the riders but still, aren't they doing a long shot from the bible shit or what?
very
I hope 3 doesnt suck, it didnt look too good.
Loving the games, even though they don't do anything new or outstanding. The first one is a great all round package and feels more well rounded and polished than the 2nd. DS2 OTOH is a more uneven experience, when it's good, it soars higher than DS1, but in other cases it did things worse than DS1 ever did. To this day I wonder how DS2 would have turned out if THQ hadn't imploded during development and forced it out the door in a last minute attempt to make some cash.
So, did they fuck?
Backstory on the nephilim? Maybe they just wanted to make the Death game before going out, I wonder if they suspected the studio would go down.
but that his mom (not literally)
That's gross, user, who would wanna fuck their mom?
>fucking your own creator who fucks the 2nd most powerful demon Samael
I don't think so tim
perhaps...
Doubt we will ever get a clear answer
that's his mom or some shit
Yum yum
They based the game lore very loosely on biblical lore and ran with it to make up their own universe. What's so confusing about it? As for "why Death" in the 2nd game, why not? He's looking out for his siblings and would have done the same for the other 2.
Strife would've bitched and moaned about it though.
Also, that small arm that War has? It's a prosthetic because Death cut his off.
Fury is a cunt too, literally resents her brothers whereas Strife is an uppity brat with Middle Child Syndrome.
How does what you say relate to my post? I'm saying that it makes sense for Death to be the one who sets out to help War, because he's that kind of guy.
I like adding in information. Shoot me.
I'm glad I'm not the only one critical. It's pre-Alpha but the whip has so little punch in its delivery and the dodging frames are absolutely fucked.
Also where the fuck is Strife at this rate? Is he just looking for his guns? They end up everywhere anyways.
>Is this series really underrated?
No, it rated as much as it deserves, which is a general consensus of 7/10.
>No one ever talks about it
we talked about it quite a lot, most recently when darksiders 3 was announced and when we had the "best 6-7 out of 10" threads.
I personally think the first one was much better than the second one simply because the second game drags on for too long and has way too much open world stuff.
The third game announcement surprised me. Fury seemed horrible in the cutscene, but in the game and in screenshots, she was fine.
I was more worried about how dull the combat was, darksiders is supposed to have kuhrazzee combos, I hope it was just a very early version.
2 had some good improvements going for it, but the whimsical fantasy worlds Death ended up in didn't do really do it for me.
Apocalyptic earth was much cooler.
>"THE CHARRED COUNCIL SUMMONS YOU STRIFE TO BATTLE AGAINST THE HORDES OF HEAVEN AND HELL"
>"Any of you seen my guns? I can't find them in my room."
glad to see more threads about darksiders lately.
Darksiders took the Zelda formula and made it better while also making it their own.
Are there any games similar?
>way too much open world stuff.
I think the open world stuff would have left a much better impression, if there had been a way to make all collectibles visible on the map. Not much fun running all over the world and revisiting every fucking dungeon to find 2-3 missing pieces of those power crystals or the pages of the book of the dead.
God of War and Dante's Inferno are probably the closest
Lords of Shadow
First darksiders was still a bit too easy even on armageddon. The boss fights were pretty cool though and the dungeons were really well done. Very underrated. Haven't gotten around to playing the second.
First one had a few irritating issues and boring puzzles, so I never bothered with the sequel. Is it better?
Kinda this, though I didn't like the fixed camera angles. Made some sections needlessly clunky to navigate around.
> make all collectibles visible
Yeah.
i actually wanted to 100% the game but the game has a shitload of collectables so it is really tedious to go over everything again.
Do you like a Diablo-like loot system? If you do, then it's pretty much the biggest change for me. Other than that, the fighting and action is a lot faster and fluid. It's not like fighting with War and his 350lbs.
>Darksiders 3 and new God of War is in the making
What a time to be alive
man it's Average hack and slash: The Game
good games good games
Average? What games would you say are above average then?
>they'll both be shit and shadows of the heights the series reached in the days of old
You know it.
What hack and slash games are above average then?
>Draw a dwarf
>Upscale it 5 times
Exactly. I did it once, by backtracking everything with a guide at the end of the game, but I don't have it in me to do it on any subsequent play. Most of the stuff, I already noticed the first time around, but didn't have the right tools yet, so why not let me mark it on the map at least, so I know the general area to revisit when I have a new skill/tool?
>acquire waifu
>Everybody else loses their power through supernatural bullshit/The Charred Council being arseholes in the 5th game.
>Strife loses his gear through just being really goddamn clumsy.
>Even in his own game his excuse for not having all of his stuff when the Council give him his job is that he could've sworn he left his helmet near War's sword before the whole premature Armageddon business.
This boss fight was kino. Shadow of the Colossus vibes.
youtu.be
hey, at least darksiders 3 won't have a huge ass open world as confirmed by the developers.
Games with metroidvania elements always drives me nuts. You have to remember early locations for backtracking later and it's nagging in your mind until you find the tool for the job.
Because the first one its a shitty GoW clone and the 2nd its a comfy combination of Zelda style dungeons with GoW combat and some light RPG elements
WE WILL NOT YIELD
>the 2nd most powerful demon Samael
Nephilim > demonkind
The 4 riders with full power are absolutely overpowered
There's also that WH40K Space Marine game which sadly never got a sequel.
I tried playing it. The atmosphere and aesthetic had the dark edginess of a 14 year old.
I HAVE TO GO ALONE
