Laptop

Which brand is the best for gaming? MSI? Asus? Dell? HP?

asus rog is okay

Just get a MBP and forget about gaymen on a laptop.

They can fit a 1060 in a laptop this thin, and it doesn't have too much of a GAYMER design to it. That means you can actually take it places without looking like too much of a tool.

Don't buy a gayming laptop, fag. Buy a middle of the road laptop at $700 max which can play some games, then buy a decent desktop when you stop being poor.

Brand barely matters.
It's all about the specs and build-quality.

That being said, Asus, MSI and Lenovo have made some of the best machines in past few years, while also keeping the price at reasonable level.
Dell of all things also just recently released this G4560 + MX150 (=GT 1030) laptop, which is not only very affordable at 600 bucks, but also can run majority of major games out there smoothly.

>700$
>"middle of the road"
wew lad...

this desu 

can't get a 1080Ti in a laptop anyway

Asus' big gaming laptops are pretty good in my experience, but they're more portables than laptops.

>and it doesn't have too much of a GAYMER design to it.
But how is the cooling? Gaming laptops look a certain way for a reason.

>spend more for less

Unless you absolutely need a laptop, build a desktop instead. Even a mid range dekstop and cheap laptop would probably be a better choice. But to answer you question, it just depends on the model. In general, MSI and Asus are usually safe picks. I have a dell gaymen laptop and I'm pretty happy with it.

razer blade cooling is great.

Shame their customer support is trash. Getting replacement rubber feet apparently necessitates sending in the whole thing

you can, however, get GTX 1070 and i7, which is more than enough for most people.

Just get a 4000 dollar alienware man

But it's not 4K 120fps on a 1080p, 60Hz, 17-inch screen!

1080p is already an overkill on a 17" screen.

It definitely isn't. 720p is noticeably worse for things like text.

>implying there aren't any other settings between 720p and 1080p
I literally own a bit older Asus ROG laptop with 1080p 17" screen, and the first thing I did was to switch the resolution to 1600x900, just to make things easier to read. Visual impact was literally nonexistent.

My typical travel craptops have a mere 1366x768 resolution screens, and it looks fine even when mirrored to a 40" 1080p television.

That just makes it not as crisp to me. Maybe I just have better eyesight?

I use a Thinkpad with an eGPU with no problems.

Don't ever buy MSI, the base eventually starts chipping off because of it's cheap Chinese manufacturing. Get an ASUS ROG instead, they're built much better.

get a lenovo

I've heard the best value for your money is to build your own computer. Maybe a similar thing is out there for laptops.

I just hate reading font that looks like size 7 on a normal screen. Also, check your ClearType font settings.

I like the look of the new Asus ones. Chunky but with lots of ventilation, look like they'll last a while.

i needed a laptop for school so i figured I'd go with a gaming laptop too cause im spending that much money anyways and I went weith an asus ROG despite hearing bad things about it. 1070 i7 120 hz panel cant go wrogn right, 3 days later and the battery bricks and i had to get a refund. went with msi for my next one and ive had no problems so far

You wanted a gaming laptop for something you lug around all day and need to use in class?

Don't game on a laptop

ffs

Probably Asus but I'm sure any of them would do if you could find the right deal on the right specs.
Except HP. Screw those guys.

Really, a little atom thing would do the job.

Yeah, get a cheap, small portable with good battery life, basically the opposite of a gaming laptop and spend what you saved on a desktop for gaming.

The new Macbook Pro is terrible.
even Applefags hate it.

The fact that chinks can copy Apple and make better products for half the price says volumes.

>Spending $700+ for a laptop with components that get hot as fuck that'll overheat and fry in less than a year in heavy daily use
>When you can get a refurbished prebuilt with an i5 or better with 8GB of ram for less than $200 and put a $150 GTX 1050 ti in it and run everything on high settings at 50fps or higher, Also with the bonus of not melting from daily use

Second option leaves $450 for a laptop that will run firefox and word without gaming gimmicks to overheat it. You gotta be smart with your money OP.

>buy a gaming laptop
>pay a lot more
>heavier with low battery life (yes even when power settings switch to integrated graphics)
>looks ugly as hell
>when it becomes outdated you just have an inefficient laptop

>buy an ultrabook
>usually cheaper
>light, thin, decent battery life
>doesn't make you look like a manchild
>good enough for modern gaming on low when away from your desktop
>when it becomes outdated you still have a light machine that's perfectly good for what it's built for

>with components that get hot as fuck that'll overheat and fry in less than a year in heavy daily use
>not buying an actual gaming laptop with cooling so that doesn't happen

It's like the guy's never seen Sup Forums before.

Pretty much. If it's coming to class, it should be light, have a touchscreen, and a battery that lasts all day. Gaming laptops are heavy, have panels you can't take notes on, and the battery lasts an hour or two.

If money is of no concern, Alienware

If you're poor peasant, get one of the gaming acers, just don't put them on your crotch or you'll go sterile, or anythign flammable if your house has no insurance..

or like he's seen it too much

>If money is of no concern, Alienware
>not the asus with two 1080s

its for an IT class where im using virtual machines and operating systems and shit, the specs required for it are fairly high endish so I had to spend a chun of money anyways

Do any new Asus ROGs have the rubber matte wrist rest anymore? That was the best damn thing about the design and now everything is all sleek shiny metal

What could you need beyond an i7 and some RAM?

literally what is even the point?
if money is no concern just hire a chauffeur that drives your PC around and sets it up for you where ever you go.
If you have a lot of money you buy a nice desktop setup with a lot of monitors and a nice ultrabook for travel.
When are you going to need x2 1080s in a fucking Starbucks or in a hotel or on a plane?

MSI typically have issues with cooling (e.g. how uneven they're distributed within)

My advice for laptops is to use one of these vacuum coolers instead of the usual cooling pad (or just use them both). It works better and shaves off around 3-5 C more, ymmv.

>needing to hook shit like this up to your "portable" machine just to lower the ridiculous temps 5 degrees
>that giant power brick

Such is the way of gaymer laptop gaming.

I just want a cheap gaming laptop with a mx150 for basic gaming

Everything else will be on my desktop

Xiaomi air 13 (2017) 256GB went on sale recently, got mine for $748 inc shipping.

I buy a new Alienware laptop every year. Poorfag kikes who clip coupons to save shekels always get triggered by Alienware. If you like triggering manlet kike faggot numales I recommend Alienware, also they're good laptops and I've never had a problem with them besides the said kikes.

>I've heard the best value for your money is to build your own computer. Maybe a similar thing is out there for laptops.
there are custom laptop building services, but the prices are a bit counter-intuitive in this regard. You can literally buy better laptops than you can build.

you may have gone too far in some places.
you deserve at least 1 (You) though.

Looks good to me, thanks for the recommendation

Well it's basically where you actually settle down for a while at a time but needs to have it movable for some reason.
It's for one of those cases where you move around semi-frequently and saves you the trouble of lugging a PC+monitor on a car or through airports.
Or just being a "gaymer" hipster.

don't just take my word, do your own research.
the 2017 model is pretty new so reviews should be pretty recent.

Also a lot of sites may mistake it for the 2016 model which has a 940mx, you can easily differentiate them because only the 2017 model has a fingerprint reader.

*block your path*

Not him but my gaming laptop is only about 7 pounds.

*fans blast over game audio*
*Cops knock on your door when your neighbor complains about the LEDs lighting up outside the window like Christmas decorations *

>You wanted a gaming laptop for something you lug around all day and need to use in class?
imagine the noodles arms of this guy.

I have literally never seen an even semi-fit guy with a gaming laptop.
It's literally always a fat guy, often asian with glasses.

Lenovo I have found to be good.

Fucking Dell

I have literally never seen your mom without a dick in her mouth.
It's literally always a fat guy, often asian with glasses.

t. fat asian

My Asus 2 in 1 laptop fan gets loud when playing overwatch, should I be worried?

For laptops id go for asus all around but razer is great for mmos and mobas

I have a job that requires me to travel a lot and fly overseas often between work and family. And there was 0 chance of me trusting airlines or anyone with international transport of a desktop. So I got a Lenovo one of the Y series for $600~700 3 years ago and it runs every game fine including this year titles.

Which 500 or so GB SSD has the best price/qaulity ratio you guys?

>Lenovo
>Dell
>recommending brands that are known for outright malicious tactics to increase their own revenue that make your laptops susceptible to hacker attacks which have been implemented on BIOS level
Look it up, you literally can't make this shit up

this asus rog laptop any good?

...

None of those consumer pleb shit brands.
Clevo/Sager is the only brand you need.

Sup Forums doesn't like gamers.
Sup Forums is for technology, not gaming.

What form factor?

>$2700 17" RGB gamur shit
I know you posted it sarcastically but the fact these products even exist...

You might want to limit frames.

>improved airflow

get a desktop you fool

it's great

Dell has amazing budget laptops, if you're looking for a 1050
If our have the money though, go Msi or Asus. HP, Levono, etc are over priced garbage

>got a cheap chromebook with 4GB of RAM and a 256GB usb thumbdrive
>currently have a decent mid-high gaming rig in the dorm that was moved effortlessly with no damage
>don't even stick around campus long because nothing to do beyond studying
>wind up not even gaming much anyway due to spending more time working on scholarships than video games
>classes are literally 10 minutes apart from each other so no reason to have a gaming laptop since it's just 4 hours of the day in class

Seriously, for the price you could get a cheap gaming laptop, you could buy a cheapass chromebook to take notes and watch Netflix on in between classes and build a decent mid-range rig with the rest.

That and gaming laptops are typically fucking massive and loud unless you spend nearly $2000 on a thin one that instead just burns a hole in everything due to lack of ventilation.
