Is this game actually hard, or is it just a meme? I bought it several years ago, but then never played it because I'm shit at video games and got scared at the idea of playing it.

Yeah. Dark souls is the hardest Game I've ever played. It's great crazy.

It's mildly frustrating at best. It's fun, but casual fags picked it up and overhyped the difficulty.

just fucking try it and be aware that the game revolves around trial and error. you will die a lot but that's normal.

I mean, its still an RPG at its core, so you can always grind to make the game easier if you feel like you're not up to the task.

Not even close. Any fighting game is 10x harder and I'm sure there are other games harder than those.

Just play it. Don't go in expecting a "super hard game for elite gamers only", just one that isn't afraid to kill you. It's really a joy to experience figuring out what is actually possible in it, and there's tons of ways to approach it.

Dark Souls is legitimately the easiest game in its franchise. Hell aside from Ninja Blade it might be the single easiest game FromSoft has ever made.

Most of Dark Souls is less about player skill and more about player knowledge.

Someone who knows that Sorcery is broken as all fuck and will carry you through 70% of the game with little effort will obviously do better than someone going in blind, let alone stuff like how to get the best equipment really quickly, what weapons are worth using, etc.

Dark Souls can be pathetically easy aside from a scant few portions, namely the Tomb of the Giants area which is always a nightmare and the Four Kings boss battle which is just a DPS stress test.

Demon's Souls is significantly easier than Dark Souls
I'd put DaS2 as slightly easier as well, because lifegems break the base game in half if you buy 99 of them and pop one whenever you take a scratch, which you can do 10 minutes into the game.
You at least have to farm humanities, so to the vast majority of players they're very limited.
If we include the DLCs its probably the reverse by a little bit though.

Since I don't want to make a new thread, is DS3 worth if if I loved one and Bloodborne? Couldn't stand 2.

I'd honestly say DeS is way more difficult due to the linear layout. You can't just skip your way to all the broken shit in like 5 seconds.

Meanwhile in Dark Souls you can have a +8 Zweihander literally 11 minutes in and can get Grass Crest Shield and DWGR within hours.

No, 3 is worse than 2 and the only good boss is DLC.

If you loved Bloodborne you'll get slight enjoyment out of Dark Souls 3.

do not go into it expecting a Dark Souls experience at all though. Dark Souls 3 has an incredibly linear world structure, isn't broken as fuck, shields are almost completely useless, heavy and medium armor is literally useless and doesn't actually do anything, and the entire game is based on rolling through attacks with perfect timing.

Dark Souls is just the modern equivalent of Ocarina of Time desu. It's not that hard. If you can beat OoT you can beat DaS.

3 is harder, for me anyway. 1 is based more around building a viable character, while 3 has faster fights based around your personal fighting ability. 1 is slow enough that unless you went full retard with your character you should be able to plan around most fights and not go into panic mode.

Once you're that familiar with the game none of them have any difficulty.
In DeS you pick up the enchanted falchion in 4-1 and a few handfulls of grass, and whoops there now every level accessable to you is easy as fuck. It's a drakesword tier noob magnet but unlike the drake sword it will actually carry you through the whole game instead of falling off horribly and making it harder 30% of the way through. Then you pick up the adjudicator's shield and you're fit for the entire rest of the game.
Or literally just start the game as Royalty, and you're 70% of the way to full easymode pve already.

Its really not, sure, its overwhelming the first time you play, but once you learn a little and get a decent feel for the game, its not that hard.

I remember playing dark souls and getting raped to death by capra demon countless times, then my demon souls arrived in the mail and I resolved to play that one first, enduring demon souls as a full melee build made dark souls way too easy when I came back to the game, capra demon became a joke and only artorias was able to kill me repeatedly.

The only truly hard souls game is the one you play as your entry in the series, after you suffer and learn how the combat works, the other games are much more easier to handle, which is way from introduced the retarded agi stat in ds2 and so many enemies have small frame delays between their attacks in ds3.

Memes aside, this game is much harder and it is actually fun.
