Stealth is broken. So I guess in FC3/4 they decided to make stealth easymode overpowered.

FC1 since it had a unique supernatural element to it and doing many aspects different and right in a world filled with ww2 combat games. Now it just probably/maybe stealth since gunplay isnt really satisfying, the ai not really interesting to fuck around with and the story nonexistent at best for how bad it is and the open world. FC died with normalfag FC2 and was kinda ressurected through blood dragon.

It's so powerful and satisfying that I can't believe how few people took the time to figure it out. Silenced shotgun and the MP5SD do fuck all, but the makarov allows to you stomp through bases. You don't go completely undetected all the times, but you appear, kill with headshots, and pull out. You can easily slip into and out of the senses of mercs. Not just "FULL SNEEK MODE" or "ALARMS ARE BUZZING AND PULL OUT YOUR ROCKETS." It took nuance.

Between stealth mechanics that plebs couldn't handle, a mortar that actually took skill and planning, and gunplay that strongly rewarded headshots I dug the hell out of this. Enemies were bullet sponges everyone complained. A headshot from any weapon took them out. It was like people were just too thick to figure out the mechanics since babies first game was COD.

I can't recall much about FC2 these days but I specifically remember liking the fact that they all went down like human beings instead of being bulletsponges. 2-3 shots to the chest kills them, a shot to the leg wounds (and their mates might come out in the open to help a downed enemy), FC2 was fucking neat.

I would seriously argue that this is one of the worst games of all time. Seriously holy fuck every part of the game was garbage, from rusting weapons to cars breaking when you hit a pebble, enemies respawning as soon as you leave line of sight, 0 stealth element, shotguns hitting you from across the fucking desert, boring plot/characers. And literally only 2 biodomes, bland desert or bland jungle, wooaaaahhhh diversity. And combat boiled down to blowing everything away with a grenade launcher and land mines.

There is nothing redeeming about this game.

I just installed Far Cry 2 a few days ago. It's the third time I'm giving it a try, since I always gave up.

One thing is sure...

The setting is amazing, the graphics are great, the fire propagation is interesting, the atmosphere is cool, there are no fancy and tacti-cool gun modifications, etc.

But...

The freaking enemy respawns are annoying AS HELL. It's so so so frustrating to get attacked by cars every 10 seconds. Sometimes they just appear behind you... out of nowhere...

Fuck that shit. They even have a wall hack and try to shoot you through walls.

I have to clear approx. 12-15 enemy camps just to go to the fucking objective. Same thing on the way back.

It's so useless, and the frustration makes me want to break something, especially because the game has(had) huge potential to be a classic.

Anyways, just to give you an idea... I spent 15 hours playing (trying to do the main objective) but I'm only at 20%... and did like 3 missions. Most time is spent getting rid of enemy cars trying to ram me up.

Far Cry 1 is definitely the goat. Two had huge potential, but like every Ubishit games, they had to fuck things up.

And the checkpoints are not hard, they are just annoying as hell. I tried turning my head after clearing a checkpoint... and it had respawned. Literally 10 seconds after clearing it.

Yeah, on my first playthrough I hated Far Cry 2, but when I came back to it and gave it a chance knowing what I was in for like with Dead Money in New Vegas I really enjoyed it. Only thing that killed it was the weapons degrading so quickly and the niggers at outposts respawing so quickly and being able to drive faster that you when you drive away.

The firefights when it all came together were so fucking good though. I remember storming some hotel / brewery in the second map that had some guy with a mortar on a little island. Was so fucking fun running for cover between all these fucking guys shooting over me that I couldn't see in the long grass and foliage, then you hear that whistling of the mortar knowing you need to shift your ass fast to somewhere else, next thing you know the mortar hits the ammo dump and fucking everything is on fire around you with guys still firing at you from all sides as you try to get into the house. SO FUCKING GOOD.

The music was great, and they nailed the art direction right on. Before the game came out, the devs put out a few videos about having gone to Africa, either Kenya or Ghana. They wanted to make sure they were making a game world that looked authentic and when they got there, they said they realized they got it all wrong and started the art direction from scratch. That's why you see the little shanty booths and half buried tires on the side of the roads and all of the other little touches that come together to make it really look like a beautiful land turned into a third world shit hole by idiot natives.

I also really miss that physical map and GPS, it breaks pacing having to hit a map button, enemies driving and shooting at you freeze, being pulled out of the game, waiting for the engine to load the map with a million cookie cutter markers, finding where I need to go, exiting out of the map screen, exiting from the submenu, exiting from another submenu, and then rejoining the game as the enemies resume racing towards me and shooting.
