Mordhau or whatever the fuck it's called seems like a nice game

For Honor's is pretty good.
How are we defining best? Most fun? Most realistic?
...
Morrowind.
Just watch your fatigue you douchebags.
It's easy.
Dark Souls
knack 2 dumbo
Chivalry
devil may cry 3: se
For me, the best combat is combat that gives a good weight to the weapons, and a strong variety. My favorites with these qualifiers are:
>Dark Souls
>Monster Hunter
>Bloodborne
Pong
Zelda a link between worlds
Best sword fighting I ever played was in the first Gothic, but I haven't played Souls games so...
Best shooting definitely S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Yes, unironically. I liked those melee/shooting mechanics the most.
>clipping
Why does anyone take From seriously?
DD Dark arisen
Morrowind does not have good combat. It's just a basic dice roll. Not saying it''s bad, it's just nothing spectacular.
Megaman Zero series
Fate Extella
stalker has pretty bad vanilla shooting mechanics imo. Don't get me wrong I love the fuck out of those games anyways
Red orchestra 2 has one of the finest and most realistic shooting mechanics I've played so far, maybe arma 3 as well but I don't like that game
Mount & Blade
Dwarf Fortress
Does Sup Forums prefer Zenoclash or M&M Dark Messiah?
>Monster Hunter

Devil may cry, no contest
I'm also really digging Nioh's at the moment
I don't know. I mean, objectively you're probably right but I just always felt stalker shooting better than other games. I don't even really understand what is wrong about it - to me it feels like what shooting in a game should be. I'm not /k/ and have never shot a gun so I might be wrong and this shit might as well be unrealistic as fuck, but I always thought stalker shooting just feels like real shooting
>the first Gothic
That's a really fun game, but combat is definitely its weakest aspect, so your taste is certainly unorthodox.
As for me, it's Twilight Princess. The weight, speed and sheer diversity of tools and attacks you can use makes it a really fun game to dispatch enemies. It also highlights a big weakpoint in the game, which is that it's so piss easy that you'll never have to use anything beyond 1-2 different moves to kill pretty much everything the game has to offer, with the sole exception of the last few rooms of the Cave of Ordeals.
Gauntlet as in Gauntlet 2014? Is it really that good?
Warband multiplayer... on fastest
Surprised no one said F.E.A.R yet.
>get shotgun
>literally just run around and shoot motherfuckers for some of the best ragdoll physics in history.
MGS Snake Eater or 4 had some awesome cqb moves. The controls in general were way ahead of their time especially in 3.
>shotgun and kicks
best part of that game.
MGO2 is pretty high on the list for me.
Depends wholly on what "good combat" is to you. Variety of mechanics? Smoothness of animations? Allowance for many play styles? Technologically advanced AI? Good control schemes?
There are tons of factors that have an impact on how combat in a game feels. My vote right now goes to Nioh, but even that is only one style of combat. I could say Diablo 2 has good combat as well simply because it feels great to fight and kill things with your various builds. There's too many varieties to determine what is "best" desu
>2014
SS.
...
I can assure you it's nothing like real gun shooting. Guns have almost zero recoil and really weird accuracy, even if you low crouch they're way too un-accurate. That said, it's still a fun game
GURPS
>ctrl+f
>no Ninja Gaiden 2
>no Bayonetta
>FPS
doom, quake, fear
>slow melee
dark souls, monster hunter
>spectacle melee
god hand, bayonetta, devil may cry
basically you need good integration with the whole gameplay systems, the enemy AI and variety, and most of all, give freedom of expression to the player but also good animations that convey the necessary weight of a weapon/action I am not even touching 2d games
shooting things isn't combat
FINAL
FANTASY
X-2
Best combat system in a turn based RPG.
2D: Mega Man Zero 2/3
3D: Devil May Cry 3
tekken 7
I'm not going to try and make a claim about "best", but I feel like Nioh should be put forward as an honorable mention. Even if the enemy variety is pretty thin and the level design isn't as imaginitive as Souls/Bloodborne, the combat is still really fluid and offers pretty good depth and variety within the weapons it offers.
That's not how you spell Persona 5
I really enjoy Skyrim's simple combat. I dunno, just feels way more immersive than MMORPG combat.
Not sure if EVE Online counts but I like combat there too.
Fighting games are good.
This guy raises a good point though.
Nier's combat is really fucking nice
Also Guilty Gear
Easily.
Wait wait I actually take that back
I think Okami wins for most unique combat, and it's fast paced, awesome, and smooth as a loli's bum.
It also has the system rewarding no damage and high speed takedowns, magic system is amazing and seamless, music choreographs, counter system. Fucking god tier.
Bloodborne has the best combat of the Souls series.
Been following that game for over a year now, you should watch the combat trailers. I can't fucking wait for release.
>Orduk the Furnaceblaze of Gleaning is caught in a cloud of Orduk the Furnaceblaze of Gleaning's forgotten beast extract!
>basing opinion on a game not released
This is pure cancer
Dragons Dogma for ARPGs
Doom for FPS
The Warriors for Brawlers
Megaman for Platformers
Tribes Ascend
this. So many fucking moves for every weapon.
does anyone have webms of all movesets of all weapons? or yt link with it? i find them interesting
hard to find a good one on youtube. People forget certain moves or talk too much.
QUAKE series - simple, yet demanding. High skill ceiling. Fast as shit.
Nioh has much better combat than souls
the number of moves is irrelevant
all you need is 1 light, 1 strong, 1 running and make them all chainable into each other
everything else is filler crap for illusion of "depth"
and bloodborne is a fine example of that
shut the fuck up holy shit.
Ninja Gaiden II or Bayonetta 2 for me, personally.
>Doom for FPS
>tfw nothing ever came close to the weapon balance of doom
>tfw pistol start is a forgotten art of the past age
Fighting games.
For singleplayer games, then DMC easily--especially 3 and 4.
Guilty Gear in general, especially Accent Core.
DMC4(3 with a mod)
I rather DaS over Bloodborne but the latter has better combat.
Quake.
Mount & Blade.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R
F.E.A.R
Off the top of my head.
too floaty
Colosseum road to freedom
Not really that floaty. Only seems so because of the player in the webm makes it look easy to stay in the air so long.
games like for honor and chivalry aside
i would say oblivion. why? because it was the best combat system in an open world game. no finishing moves or spinning around like a spinning top.
i like when hits matter
i take a hit, i get knocked out, have to find a window for heal or die
i land a hit, enemy does the same
not just mash mash mash, slice slice slice, something messy happens on the screen, my character does 28203690 attacks while im watching the boss healthbar slowly go down
Guild wars 1. No contest.
You have absolutely no idea how DMC4 works on harder difficulties.
They are bullet sponges and that's hardly mashing.
Oblivion's combat is ass.
>ITT: boring opinions from guys who know jackshit about combat
bloodborne or dota2
Super Mario 64 Online as long as you aren't some kind of FGC pleb
i have to admit i never played dmc, but for the exact same reasoning
what i like: press a button - do 1 hit, with perceivable wind up and recovery animations, long enough for it to feel like a commitment. From various cuhrazee games' webms that i saw, it looks like the character does its own thing, it feels cheap and arcadey
jesus christ dude, why the fuck are you trying to talk about something you obviously know nothing about.
Nioh without a doubt.
im just saying why i like what i like and why i don't like what i don't like
im not shitting on dmc by any means, it's probably a great game, considering how popular and successful it were
but everything in that webm is 1 button = 1 attack, all with perceivable wind ups and recoveries. just because its a faster paced game doesnt make it any less true. also healing is heavily limited. more so than soulsbornes or MH, so every move is a commitment and just mashing will get you nowhere.
Halo series is still pretty damn good with environment based gameplay.
wish more shooters had environmental gameplay.
