I wouldn't say they are inept. They rush through localization as fast as possible and ignore any and all errors that crop up. Hell, if you don't apply the patch that came out today, the staff credits are in Japanese except for the english localization credits, those are in english. It's just shoddy rushed work

Adol and Dogi were on a ship traveling to Altago but get shipwrecked along with other passengers. They land on an mysterious island and have to survive fighting off Ancient Species. So lots of adventuring. You have to make your own village and find more people.

Hard is decently challenging.

In Nightmare enemies do 3x damage which means that even normal monsters will one or two shot you early game before you level up and start getting better equipment. Bosses will one-shot you for a while.
Inferno has enemies deal 6x damage and you have limited healing items. Enemies are also faster.

You can switch between Easy-Nightmare at will during the game but have to start a new game to play Inferno and it can't be switched from once chosen. I'd say start on Nightmare and tone it down to Hard if you're having too much trouble.

It depends. I always found the combat satisfying. Just enough hack n slash / collecting shit, punctuated by hard fought boss battles (at least for me)

The music is also fucking amazing. I loved VII and Celceta because of the sense of adventure mixed with the music for each area.

They're fun action-RPGs with good combat (though some of the older games are a little dated), nice exploration, and a great soundtrack while being decently challenging as well.

Nobody plays Ys for the story, they play it purely for the fast-paced action..

There was either a fuck-up on Sony or NISA's part where PSN doesn't recognize you as having the game if you got physical and thus won't let you download the free DLC costumes. The pirate costumes weren't put up for the PS4 version even though they got upload for Vita as well. NISA is apparently trying to get things sorted out with Sony but haven't fixed it yet. Hopefully it won't take until the next PSN update.

Funny how Genso Rondo from NISA has the exact same problem.
