Never played these games back then. Are they any good? I've always thought they were run of the mill JRPGs, maybe 7/10 or something.

GU characters are more popular, the gameplay doesn't need drastic changes for players to not want to kill themselves, and it comes with the Terminal Disk to give newcomers a quick rundown on the relevant stuff that happened in the originals anyway.

I really like the concept of the original show but I found the first few episodes a bit slow. Is it worth sticking it out?

Do you know if there are plans to remake the originals if this one does well?

All of Sign has a slow pace along with very little action. You watch it for the character interactions and later how they try to solve the many mysteries of the game. If that's unappealing, you can get yourself right into the games, but you will miss out a lot on the context.

The first set IMOQ is more of a RPG dungeon crawler where it gets a bit grindy here and there. GU on the other hand changes the genre to be more like an action JRPG.

Watch .hack/roots and decide if you like Haseo since it's a prequel to the GU games and be prepared for a lot of anime to watch and games to play if you really want to get into the series

How long do you reckon it will take to beat this with all of the quality of life changes they've made? Never played this trilogy before. I wanna beat this on the couple of weeks I have between semesters in december.

It took me about a week or so beat the original trilogy when I emulated them so it's doable.

GU would take 3-4 days if you rush it, week and a half if you take your time.

With the quality of life changes it should be a fuckton faster to get through.
