Why is EO the magnum opus of DRPGs?
Why is EO the magnum opus of DRPGs?
Because lolis.
Real answer because of interesting classes and combat plus a fantastic soundtrack.
EO may be the best DRPG on 3DS but DT2 is the best DRPG on Vita.
Pretty much this.
>Farming ingots while waiting
Now 'till the end of the year is gonna be great.
explain. you do this in the demo version in order to have many ingots when importing your demo save to the full version? why? what are ingots used for? how do you farm them? i never played an EO game but am currently downloading the demo
it isn't, Wizardry 4 will always be the magnum opus despite the memes but I will admit that the later EO games are better DRPGs than the proper SMT titles before 4 ruined everything, and they are both high-tier DRPGs
huh?
pretty much this.
And I already finished the moon version of EOV.
Both are fantastic.
Which one would be better if both were on the same system?
>you do this in the demo version in order to have many ingots when importing your demo save to the full version?
No other reason. Everything gets imported to the full game.
>why? what are ingots used for?
Upgrading weapons. Typically, you need certain drops to forge, but you can also use ingots if you don't have the necessary drops. It's a nice alternative if a weapon has some annoying material requirements.
>how do you farm them?
Disenchanting. Forge weapons up to +5, then scrap'em for some shards. 10 copper shards can be converted to 1 copper ingot.
EO. By a good margin
EO. Because EO is the single greatest DRPG series ever created. Even though it really does nothing uniquelyl different from every other DRPG and is even simpler than everything else that has come out since, it's still the greatest. Better than Wizardry.
I really really like DT2 but EO is better.
EO.
DT2 isn't even a close second. It's like an entire tier lower. EO4 shits all over anything in DT2.
Not as good as CoH.
>Asking in an EO thread
EO really is better, but I liked the dungeons in DT2 and wished EO would be a little more brutal with theirs.
Etrian Odyssey IV > Untold 2 > Untold > EO3 >>>> the DS EO games >>>> DT2 > DT
>EO4
I genuinely can't tell if this is bait. DT2 is below EOU2 and EO3 and nothing else.
>it's a falseflag thread
So i've bought new 3ds xl recently and i never played any EO game. Should i start with 5th or play 1-4 first?
Where do i start with EO
The first bore me to death
Start with IV, the later games will spoil you too much with their fancy new features.
start with IV
DT2 is easily better
Gonna agree with what's been said already, IV is probably the best place to start. Etrian Odyssey 1/2 Untold are also acceptable should you feel like going with them instead for whatever reason, but IV is both the easiest entry and the oldest out of the 3 so you won't be missing some of the QOL changes the later games bring.
Flat chests
I agree with him, EOIV is just a very enjoyable game regardless of the 3 floor stratums, it just gives you a lot to do and all the classes are great to use.
I'd never put U2 so high, though. It would have been such a good game if postgame wasn't so infurating to beat, forcing you to cheese most bosses. And fuck Ur-Child, fuck it to oblivion.
What about them?
>There are shitters on Sup Forums and even in this thread right now that paint under doors or put walls around them
Start 4 to get the basics down. There's no concise story, but introduces the concept of imagination that will be integral to EO as a whole. Untold 2 has a more direct story and introduces new mechanics.
>And fuck Ur-Child, fuck it to oblivion.
>He's never experienced the suffering that is Ur-Devil on Expert.
There are nearly none in V.
And that is sad
I'D LOVE TO EXPERIENCE FULL, UNADULTERED HATRED EVEN MORE BUT I STILL CAN'T BEAT UR-CHILD EVEN AFTER RAISING 9 CLASSES ALL THE WAY TO LV99 UNLESS I CHEESE IT LIKE WITH THE REST OF THE POSTGAME.
There's objectively less to do than the other games. Even EO3, which already cut the main stratums to four floors, used significantly more tiles and had much more challenge than 4.
4, despite being an average to above game on its own, was one of the worst entries in the series between how easy and small it was.
Well you're in luck.
Have a link of someone going step-by-step through everything that makes the boss fight suffering on Expert with the Story party.
lparchive.org
>with the Story party.
I've heard Faf makes short work of Ur-Child but I haven't touched that yet and may never do.
Fafnir Knight is OP, but he's hampered in Story by the fact he's basically the only damage dealer. The rest of the party are a Survivalist, Sovereign, Protector, and a War Magus.
Good classes, but Fafnir Knight is basically your sole damage dealer, so he kinda has to be OP.
There is nothing wrong with drawing walls on the sides.
Automap
death penalty

What's wrong with it? It only eliminates tedium
EO has great main game. But DT games have insanely good post games
EO. I love DT2 but I had a lot more fun playing around with party synergies and line-ups in the EO games. Plus the map-making scratches an itch I never knew I had in this genre.
You can't go wrong with either though.
Will you miss (conventional) mapping after the festival game, Sup Forums?
The game wasn't easy, it was the classes who were so good and subclassing who made them even better. You had Fortresses covering the whole party from AOE nukes for 0 damage, Dancers stunlocking enemies left and right with dual blades, Arcanists having AOE ailments and binds whose circles last 3 turns and almost never run out of TP, Imperials nuking bosses left and right, you get my point. They all work so well individually (especially with subclassing) that when you pair them with other units with good synergy, you end with your own nukes against any enemy that stays in your way.
I'm still convinced the "bodysuits" in EO and other rpgs are just bodypaint.
Maybe I LIKE the tedium!
Why is this game sold out on Amazon?
What the fuck? This better not be Nioh all over again.
>Not as good as CoH.
WHAT GAME user? I need this.
So it was easy, retard
It had more options for cheesing and was easier to cheese than EO3
amazon.com
Not sure about you, but sold out from my pov.
class of heroes?
I only played the first but it was deeply mediocre
Class of heroes for the PSP.
That's from the second one.
>DT2
>not DG2
smdh tbqh familia
What's worse. Having many ways to cheese instead of just a few, or having players screwed over by non-functional classes?
How is Warped Savior compared to the other superbosses?
And when's 3 untold, it would literally print money.
>And when's 3 untold,
user, I.....
>391224502
Class of Heroes
a more balanced game is better, EO doesn't have non-functional classes, IV was so easy to get gamebreaking synergy you'd have to be retarded not to happen upon something
What does that even mean user?
Does EO3 still hold up? I'm afraid I've been spoiled too much by the 3DS games
There is literally no good turn based japanese game. The gooks are great at making action and OSTs, but the West have and will always surpass them at mechanics innovation, story and, of course, strategy and puzzle games.
Pic related is the actual best Dungeon Crawler ever created so far, which is pretty sad, because it's 16 years old and we could have MUCH better games in the genre if any fucking dev company, like Atlus for example, put ANY effort into it.
What's the D stand for?
Nioh was unavailable for weeks after it came out, maybe even a month or more. Since I have Prime, I miss out on the discount.
it's weird to me that wizardryfags of all people miss the entire reason why classic wizardry is still so beloved
>a more balanced game is better, EO doesn't have non-functional classes
Then you admit that IV was good because of good balanced classes, compared to the older games were stuff like II's Survivalist and III's Yggdroids were just useless.
Dingus, you dingus!
Yes, play it. The only thing that sucks about going back to it from the 3DS games is that you move kind of slow and there's not floor jump so you'll actually need Threads.
>How is Warped Savior compared to the other superbosses?
Glad you ask, hes so fucking easy its not even funny, i killed that thing at lv78 with loli fortress taking almost 0 damage, runemaster spamming origin rune, imperial doing imperial things and landsnack using stonards and whatnot
Meanwhile im still stuck in untold
I beat that but it wasn't very fun
It'll go back up. It's been up for pre-order for a while, and I guess there was a small surge after the direct.
>tfw encountering Alraune for the very first time in EO1
...
They were all viable, and the majority weren't overpowered
You only broke the game if you very deliberately tried to, like building a warrior's might party
Anything in 4 breaks it, the hardest part of the postgame boss was the canister section
Post and rate teams.
I wish I could play this game but there are too many unexplained mechanics that I just can't get past. Hell, even the weapons are a mystery since the game doesn't show you their stats.
>DRPG
Stop making up terms
...
how i beat him in EO 1
bind his arms.
Try hitting him
I'm playing 4 as my first game. And while it is fun I have to say I'm really disappointed at the gear progression. Every area feels the same. Kill the mantis on the world map to get the best weapon of the area. That's pretty boring especially when there's no thrill of getting anything better for the whole damn region.
Are all the games like this? Because if they are I don't think I'll play another. At least not for a long time.
>wants females to give oral, have sex before marriage
>doesn't want her to have sex with men before you
You can't have it all. Maybe you should look for muslim women.
It's the only game of the series with a world map.
but binding things, its stupid
Use cheat codes.
I know that much but I'm saying is gear progression as monotonous as that? Kill the mantis FOE in each region/dungeon to get the best weapon in said region/dungeon?
Hell I might be alright if it was a different FOE each dungeon, but mantis every time? That's boring as hell.
not as stupid as you, shitbrains
FOE are ez modo in EOIV, trying to take out the strongest FOE in a stratum in the other games is a one way ticket to death.
I don't get the heaps of praise, the game is fucking boring
gear progression is literally the least important part of making your character stronger, you can go whole stratums without upgrading your gear easily
>he hasn't played strange journey
Shame the 3ds version looks like shit.
This.
>using a method designed to stop enemies using their most powerful attacks against you is stupid.
Guess I'm an idiot for wanting to stay alive then.
Beating FOEs in other games is difficult. especially because you're in the dungeon and not some safe overworld you can trigger battles with safely. Especially since there's some drops that you need to use certain types of moves on them to get. Generally though, beating the most difficult enemies with the unique drops tends to get you the 'best' weapons, but even the idea of a 'best' weapon comes into question when you're thinking about what would be better for your character: straight damage increase, an increase to proc certain stats or extra TP to do more special attacks.
Since everyone seems to be avoiding the question, should I just assume it is the mantis or same FOE every dungeon for every game?
