Why is there such a cult surrounding all the Kojimas, Todds and Kamiyas of the industry instead of the programmers, artists and composers that do a lot of the actual work?

Why does everyone shit on brands when they hate something? Like Coke, Verizon, Nike, Sony, Microsoft, Nexon, and no one thinks about Mike from accounting, or Jefferson from publicity?
Directors are the ones who come up with the ideas while the programmers, composers and artists only have to do what they're told. They are highly expendable compared to the directors.
kojima designed his games and had most the ideas. the programmers are just faceless worker drones who bring his creation to life
>Todd
Japanese game development is different than western game development. In Japan the game director makes a lot of decisions himself that actually affect how the game will end up and give the game a similar vision. In the West, games are more 'design by comittee' and that's why they end up being 'polished turds'.
You can actually see the personal influences and tropes in games made by Kamiya, Kojima, etc.
who the fuck is this ugly tow tier slut?
What's that OP?
Programmers don't have cults of personality?
Same reason people worship Noland for yelling "action" or "cut" while others do the work that matters
I think Kojima is especially relevant in that after Policenauts he went on record saying he wasn't satisfied how some things were done on the programming side and since then he's basically been involved with everything to some degree in every game he's worked on since.
>that awul haircut
you know what? never mind i dont care abut this cunt and i hope she DIES
But there are people who worships Jeremy Souls, Mick Gordon, Stephen Rippy, Yoko Shimamura, Shoji Meguro, Martin O'Donnel, Go Shiina, and the likes
Carmack is hardly the norm. He's kind of a programming demigod who just happens to work on video games here and there. Still, megatextures were a blunder that went nowhere.
Because all code monkeys do is follow orders from directors.
Code monkeys alone can't do anything on their own, they just do what they are told.
Because people want to be seen as knowledgeable about the industry without putting in any actual effort or research

what the hell do you consider attractive then?
yoko taro is going to be reddit and Sup Forums's favorite after death stranding turns out to be shit
Man that pic always makes me feel good
There's actually a sizable cult (at least on certain threads here) for a lot of CRPG/Western writers like Avellone, Sawyer, Fargo, Hennig, and Williams to name a few. Composers have an even bigger following while artists are usually limited to one with a highly distinctive style on a famous franchise like Amano, Ayami Kojima, and Yoji Shinkawa.
tbf programmers are kinda left in the dust unless they're good like Carmack, and even then they usually have some directorial chops.
Probably because the director is the one with the "vision" that the programmers, artists, and composers are working towards. The director is the guy who talks with the artists and ultimately decides what direction they should go in tonally. The director is the one who talks with the programmers and says "this is what we need to be able to do." The director tells the composer how each scene should feel and the composer shifts his energy towards that feeling. If the programmers, artists, and composers were left to their own devices, the resulting piece wouldn't have any synergy or clear direction. The director is the guy who makes sure everything comes into a cohesive whole, that it adheres to what they intended.
At least, that's the theory. Some games from well known directors genuinely suffer from poor direction (Fallout 4 being a very recent and very notable example of a game with terrible or non-existent direction).
Writer's are the worst ones to idealize because unless they're lead writers or heading a solo project their talent/vision will never really come through. Did most people even realize Avellone wrote for FTL, for example?
Code monkeys are low tier shit
Whos that?
women who are not little smartasses and act like the submissive beings they are unlike in the OP: image the other one i posted or this one this slut can fuck off till she learns how to behave and kneels to men
People attribute the quality of a game to a single person instead of a number of people who each did their part to make the game great. People's favorite game (or series) is then attributed to a particular person, and the fans of game/series then latch onto him because he surely must be an iconoclast and not simply a guy who was in the right place at the right time with the right colleagues. Since they're such die hard fans of the person, they'll spin half-truths or flat out myths about the person to show others just how amazing the target of their adulation really both sincerely and as a joke. Their goal is to get other people to worship their favorite "creator" so that he gets positive publicity on whatever he is involved in and thus publishers/people with money give him money to make more games.
Because workers are easily replaceable.
Why?
They have drive but they lack vision.
So then why are idea guys shit? Because they have vision but lack drive.
But the people you mentioned has both vision and drive, and that's rare.
Todd has been dreaming about making his games since childhood.
Kojima's vision is umcompormising and he has no issue to intervene in every facet of development to achieve it.
Kamiya's just a gloating asshole. But he has the right to be because he is VERY good at what he does.
I'm fucking amazed that to this day that Oblivion interview exist, it's just Todd saying the most inane bullshit about chess clubs and how he was writing games when he was 12 while having almost every feature shown being later cut before release
It's truly an anomaly some God of Logic skipped over
Newfags pls go
>implying she is hot and not an ANNOYING little fucking UPSTART
I wish I had a girl like that to make breakfast for.
Jesus...
youtube.com
you mean to make breakfast for you wearing nothing but a chastity belt and an iron collar to heavy for her to run with with her "personality" beaten out of her till she says nothing but "yes master" and the most excited motion she makes is sucking your cock
>Why do people talk about architects instead of masons?
Because it's easier to rally around one individual than 200+ artists and programmers. It's the same thing with movies, the director gets all the credit even though there could be hundreds of people involved in production.
This is one of the most ignorant things I've seen here in a long time. The director does far, far more than just yell "action" and "cut" (which most directors don't actually even do)
>Beta male tries to fit in: the post.
>N-No. I mean like I would be the one making breakfast for her instead, like biscuits n gravy or something. Then we would go about our day, work/school, then come home and play some vidya.
Know what I mean, bro?
I didn't mean to imply any of that. Derp.
nope would never have a single conversation with her she would be expected to koeep quiet unless specifically asked to speak but no gags cause they are an eyesore and stretch out lips so they cant suck cock as well
Alright so they can't even do that
All of them are submissive if you don't behave like a beta bitch, which you probably are.
because discussing programming is boring and most of them don't want the attention anyway. plus, they're just grunts who do what they're told.
It's not entirely bad. The single dungeon maker guy did a great job.
>I love the undead I use them whenever I can
such as?
>programmers
guns for hire honestly
it's not like it was back in the 90's
>artists
same as the above
>and composers
there's a daily mick gordon thread on Sup Forums for a while now
shot composition and directing the actors
>composers
nobody praises the director for the score, this has literally never happened
is that it?
meh.
A tool cannot create masterpieces without the hand holding it
no, those are two examples
why not just google "what does a director do"
>shot composition
cinematographers
>directing the actors
good actors don't need direction
...
>"muh cult of personality"
>posts some random camwhore
because that "actual work" is just rank and file bullshit that can be done by anybody.
composers and artists have their own followers, at least japanese ones
no one will ever give a shit about individual code monkeys through
the west just doesn't give a shit about it's artists
>good actors don't need direction
bullshit, a good actor is just receptive to and capable of following direction
...
tell me, without looking it up, who directed breathe of the wild?
Some irrelevant nip directing an irrelevant game.
>replace Kojima
>get a completely different game
>replace QA tester Terry VanderCuck
>get exact same game
some asian dude idk
Because the same team of programmers were left to make Metal Gear Rising without Kojima and couldn't do shit without him holding their hands.
Composers get a shit ton of credit hell on the last persona Meguro's name was put bigger than the directors in the trailers for it and vgm is a regular topic around most gaming sites, as for programmers most in the industry are just code monkeys that do what they're told and contribute very little to the actual design of the game
Kojima doesn't deserve to be lumped in with Todd.
>says the faggot who worships a female for no other reason because e thinks she's cute and is a meme
>Why is there such a cult surrounding all the [insert directors' name] of the [insert media name] industry instead of the programmers, artists and composers that do a lot of the actual work?
Because they are the fucking directors. Are you retarded or underage?
>Why is there such a cult surrounding all the Thomas Edison, Gutenberg, Wrights, and Bell instead of the labourers that do a lot of the actual work?
It's a mystery OP.
