We need next gen ASAP

Next gen needs to happen next year.

PS4, and especially XB1 are dreadfully outdated. 1080@30 for PS4, and 820@30 for XB1 are old technologies. 4K has been getting pretty darn mainstream the last few years.

Okay, so PS4 Pro and XB1 Pro can handle 4k@30 finally. Some games through tricks, and some proper, but then this leads to my next point.

Sure games are finally going 4K, but their visuals haven't improved a great deal, apart from games like Uncharted 4, Horizon, and Forza of-course.

I really don't think we can wait until 2019 for the PS5. I feel late 2018, early 2019 is a must. Consoles are starting to feel like a 2012 PC big time now.

games should be 1080p instead so the hardware wouldn't got waste

Microsoft is no longer doing gens

next gen is gonna be 8K @ silky smooth 17 fps

memeK is ruining everything.

>Caring about hardware

This is the problem with Sup Forums sharing a board with computer nerds. Just shut the fuck up and play video games. jesus christ.

>Sure games are finally going 4K, but their visuals haven't improved a great deal, apart from games like Uncharted 4, Horizon, and Forza of-course.

I've got some bad news for you, buddy, they're not getting much better from here. There is absolutely no reason for me or 90% of other people who bought an 8th-gen comsole to move on to the next for an infinitesimally small graphics upgrade.

"Woahhh, look, there's 10% more foliage now!"
"Wow, those ground textures look 3% sharper!"

No one, especially your average normie, cares that much about visuals. If I wanted graphical fidelity, I'd use my PC. We're basically gonna see these small upgrades in the form of PS4 Pro/One X for the forseeable future.

I think 4k would last for 10-15 years, seriously.

>2019
Try 2021.

There is still steps to take. Graphics can and will improve next gen. I know we will never see PS1-PS2 graphics jump again, but then there is always CPU upgrades which will help AI, etc hugely.

I have this feeling that, now that PS4 is to be a sole console manufacturer per se with little competition, people will hopefully grow tired with them and abandon consoles in favour of PC's.
Pls happen

This. If they came out with another generation in 2019 they would bleed badly from the sales. I know alot of people would but ALOT of people would not. I damn sure wouldnt .

>AI hugely taking up CPU power

Look everybody, it's trying to think

fuck of mitchell

There won't be a next gen.

There will only be hardware upgrades.

Lol, the only reason 4k exist is so companies can keep selling tv's. They will make something new just to sell shit.

>he thinks console developers will ever favour higher framerate over better graphics
We had 60fps on the NES, hardware is not the problem

A ps5 would cost too much and piss off the Ps4 user base the ps5 will probably show up around fall 2021

I hope this happens we only need PCs (Xbox One X) and tablets (Switch) anyway.

>fan made xbox two art
Thats some high level autsim right there.

You are wrong my friend. I'll admit the difference between 1080 and 4k isn't gigantic, but it's definitely noticeable on a TV over 50". That being said, there is something much better than 4k, and that's the HDR. You don't know what HDR is from a YouTube video, you can only see it in person and it's the biggest upgrade to consoles in a very long time.

Within the next 2 years we'll get PS4 Pro 2 and Xbone One X One.

Consoles have become fucking stupid, and to think they were once better than PC's.

>prioritizing 4k video games
>not 1080p stable fps
When will this meme die?

You don't understand my point, hdr, 4k. By the time the ps5 comes out people are gonna be going for 8k if you will. Theyll complain about the ps5 not running 60fps at that 8k resolution

>Sony just released the Pro
>MS releasing the XBONEX
>hurr durr next gen
You retards have absolutely no common sense

...

4K TVs won't sell themselves

Just buy a PC lmao

>Get to play 2021 games at 900p20
Whoa...
Who am I kidding, a fucking 6 year old HD 7970 still runs most games at 1080p60 on medium-high settings, chances are by 2021 this'll be running games about as well as the PS4 runs games now.

>Microsoft and Nintendo
>doing a solid and killing console gaming while making big profits in different markets
This really is the greatest timeline. The timeline when Sony finally fucking dies.

Sony will do the same thing. Both ps4 & xbox one are on a x86 architecture.

y u hate sony tho

They're the bad goys now

Sony's pretty shit, anti-competitive as fuck, anti-consumer as fuck, their movie division is cancer incarnate and literally run by a genuine man-hating feminist, and their top brass borders on incompetent.
I hold no loyalty to any platform, so if Sony died I'd have 0 problems.

No, they won't

gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-10-21-sony-we-still-believe-in-console-generations

>sony said something
>expecting something to be true
lol

Because they and their fanbase are shit.

What the fuck would be the point in 8k? Even if the human eye can see beyond 4k, it would hardly be noticeable.

According to digital foundry, the next amd cpu that the console shitters are using is expected to be out around 2020. So thats where we should expect the next generation of consoles.

Unless ofc they want to keep the shitt 2.3 ghz and just bump up the vram for "4k" gaming.

But that makes no sense. To see a difference from 4k to 8k, you will need an 80" TV give or take, and correct me if I'm wrong but I can't see a majority of people having space for that.

This legit has triggered me.
If Microsoft had their way you'd never buy discs or be able to share games as well. The hardware is also very poor for the price. I regret buying an XB1. Wish I went PS4 to begin with. Smh.

Good. If the PS360 gen is anything to go by, and the diminishing returns of Moore's Law, then incremental updates, where you upgrade where you want are going to be much better going into the future.

2020 feels so far away but that might be the perfect time to fill the gap.

Master 1080p before worrying about 4K is my perspective. When 1080p/60FPS is the standard then I'll consider giving an iota of a fuck about 4K. Actually, who am I kidding. No I won't, but rushing into it is dumb regardless.

>tfw 2020 is over two years away

The new Xbox 480p and PS 720p,finally in silky smooth 50 FPS!

games don't get better just because they look (VERY slightly) prettier. the more expensive a game is to make, the more it will have to pander to lowest common denominator idiots in order to make back it's massive budget. wich means no one takes risks making something new.

Who's looking forward to Xbox 2? Will come with Kinect 3! All for a small price of £600. Has that beautiful huge power brick that you have been used to in the Xbox 360 and Xbox one! Also, so the player feels at home, the controller will be almost the same as the last few gens with the ability to add batteries or buy a rechargeable battery separate if desired!

We have some amazing exclusives coming to Xbox 2 as well! Kinect Fitness 2, TV input, Halo 6! Forza 8! Gears of War and maybe some more exclusives through-out the years like re-core 2!

We hope you enjoy and also keep an eye out for some amazing accessories and of-course third party games, or as we like to say 99% of our gaming library.

Pre order today and you get an achievement that makes you look so much cooler than every other gamer ever!

XBX is the nu-gen, ps5 will have the same specs if it comes out before 2020 with the same price.

>If Microsoft had their way you'd never buy discs or be able to share games as well.
Almsot everything on PC is digital. Was it M$ fault? No.
Also PC is forward compatible, why wouldn't be the case on console? You seems to be retarded.

Who's looking forward to PS5? Only people that are triggered that Xbox one X is the most powerful console now i guess.

I don't see the push for consoles to go to the next gen. For lack of better words, the tech inside is good enough for your average joe. Plus, lets be realistic, what games could only be available for PS5 or equivalent that can't be done on the current generation? Getting new hardware isn't going to cause a rush of new games to populate their libraries. Shit, people joke and say that the libraries for PS4 and XB1 are already lack luster. If anything, you force developers to learn how to deploy games to an entire new architecture. That just translates to even less games because some devs will just say fuck it.

>4K has been getting pretty darn mainstream the last few years.
For PC monitors and such, sure. Not much elsewhere.

>Sure games are finally going 4K, but their visuals haven't improved a great deal
Games aren't going to look that much better going forward. It's diminishing returns. Why do you think 3D and VR were being touted? It tried to offer something new and different that wasn't about just resolution and frame rate. Problem was that most people don't give a shit about 3D and VR. It usually involves spending extra money on shit that regular people aren't willing to spend extra money on.

The only obvious exception to the 3D is the 3DS but I think sale numbers would have been equivalent if the 3DS had only been sold as a 2DS.

My advise is that if you care so much about graphics and frame rates then you stick to PC.

>My advise is that if you care so much about graphics and frame rates
or get it for a decent price. One of the point of those consoles is also to push those 4k tvs. It won't push itself.

But don't those consoles only do 4K @ 30fps. If you are a graphics junky then that won't do. If they did 1080p at 60fps then I'd personally be happy. Maybe they do, fuck if I know.

depends on the game, you get 4k60fps, 4k30fps, 1440p/1800p---> 4k checkerboarding, or 1080p with supersampling feature.

Yes, that's how technology works. Things progress constantly. Do you want things to just stop once they reach a level you deem "good enough"?
