People saying it's shit are comparing it to ToS1 which is one of the best in the series. On its own its ok and the monster catching aspects are fun. Everything in Tales series outside Vesperia, Abyss, Symphonia are way inferior to those 3.
It's a flawed game with a good battle system and serviceable story.
It's not the worst in the entire series Nu-Tales is shit, but it isn't as good as some of the games before / after it.

The only good thing about Berseria is the cast. Dungeons are shit, battle system is braindead even with the "harder" characters, and the music could be removed and you wouldn't notice.
