I'm about to play this shit for the first time. What should I expect Sup Forums? Any tips?

YOUR MOTHER SUCKS DWARF COCK
single player rpg greatness
The combat is pretty damn strange, and its got a terrible first impression in terms of story and voice acting. It gets much better once you get into the cities, but that takes a good 1-2 hours.
Combat is based on 3 styles. Fast, heavy or area attacks. You click the mouse at the enemy when the icon shows a flaming sword, then you try to chain as many "flaming swords" as possible.
the best witcher game
>Not siding with the flaming rose and removing the nonhuman scum
Old pasta I made. It might be outdated but just make sure you get FCR, the rest doesn't matter so much. FCR is great even if you're playing on easy mode, people tend to say it's only for making the game hard but that's just not true.

Some of them have performance hits so avoid graphics if you're on a toaster.
The start of TW1 is -hard- to get through so keep that in mind. It gets great later on though.
Facial expressions are worse than the ones in a Bioware game and the voice actors are a mixed bag. If you can get past those presentation problems, you'll probably like the game provided you like RPG games.
Tentatively agree. Imagine tw1 with 3s production value
>Sup Forums
go back to you disgusting newfaggot
the fact that nobody called this out yet makes you all disgusting newfaggots
Pretty bad combat, but this is an RPG so that's to expected.
The butthurt servers to only make me stronger. :)
If you can't get the tempo to work for you and are getting bodied, remember that a witcher doesn't go around slicing shit like a final fantasy character. They win with proper preparation, having the right potions in advance, and using the right tool for the job.
Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna check it all out.
Play on hardest difficulty, the game is balanced around it, everything else makes alchemy utterly pointless and signs OP. First boss fight with the doggo is hardest part of the game, so don't give up there.
First person view is only for sightseeing. Use the other 2.
The combat is a fucking rhythm game.
Combat system is strange, but i never before played any kind of rhythm game so i enjoyed it
Think you might have the realize that you are the problem here. Not OP.
It's a good series, stick with it. The very beginning of the first game is a little rough but it gets better as it goes on.
Yeah. I have all three installed and I'm excited for the third the most. I've heard many a great things about it. But I want to go in release order.
Can we talk about how hilariously awful and derpy the character models look in TW1?
Everyone besides Geralt has this whacked out, meth addict, thousand-yard-stare expression on their face and it's so fucking distracting.
The best and only GOOD game in the series.
A true CRPG, not a console action-rpg.
Tons of replay value.
Yeah that's the best way to appreciate the improvements each game brings. 2 is very short but it encourages you to do two playthroughs to get both sides of the branching story. I like the third the best but the first one is also great.
Some decisions you make in each game carry over but not a huge amount like a Bioware game.
Combat in the game isn't strange, it's fucking awful.
I unironically like the fucked up character models. Don't get me wrong, of course I prefer the top tier models of 3 but the models in 1 fit the charm and aesthetics.
Does the console version of 3 have a way to pick the choices you miss out on since the first and second aren't on PS4?
It runs on a modified bioware engine and it was made by a handful of drunken polaks. Of course it doesn't look good.
Yes. Even on PC if it doesn't detect saves it will allow you to choose. You get summoned by the Emperor after the tutorial area and a dude asks you a bunch of questions while you are getting fitted for an outfit. He asks stuff like ''you met X when you were in Y, what happened ?''. And you can answer: A) I killed him or B) I convinced him to not fight me.
Witcher 1 feels a bit outdated, 2 has aged alot better
Be sure to bang all the bangable women for their sex cards or you're fag, OP.
It doesn't matter all that much either way, I never noticed much difference when I chose "I rescued Triss" compared to "I helped Iorveth break Saskia curse"
This was my first pc game so I'm probably gonna be biased.
Compared to tw1 there's a lot more 'hidden' interactions and hidden dialog so talk to everyone at least once and after you complete x quest talk to some of the people involved to unlock different paths. One that comes to mind is in the vizima outskirts at the start once you clear the cave of ghouls and progress further in the story go back to the guard that sent you there to unlock another section of the cave with a boss you'll need to kill for the huntmaster (he'll pop up at different stages in the game) always try to make sure you kill all his monsters you'll get a good sword in the last zone if you do.
There's a couple of others that I can't think of it's been years since I played the game last one has to do with Raymond just talk to everyone even randoms on the street
It's a fun game and was ahead of its time imo combat is hard to get used to but it's worth the 40+ hours amazing story and characters
Explore the swamps thoroughly. There should be a dead body with an awesome sword lying there somewhere.
Easternmost part of the 2nd chapter swamp, by the wyverns iirc.
>Any tips?
Dump all points into Igni and forget about your sword.
That's the one.
Expect a good time
Pay attention to your medallion. In a world full of lying cunts out to get you, you can depend on your medallion.
Also, investment into the group style of either sword, or into the Igni sign is a really, really good idea.
Just award and then execute. The beast is a demo of how to properly use sign to beat foes. Tw1 contains no bullet sponges. Every boss can be killed via knowledge or skill. Only jahved on hardmode is a problem but if you thunderbolt you can knock him out fast.
Diligently mod, do your research. kirmiziperfect has some you won't find elsewhere, compare his mod guide to others and decide what you want.
There's some annoyances due to dated design, but not as much as you'd expect. It's actually a fucking good game even today, my only criticism is that while it makes sense that you don't get to properly enjoy Geralt's skills til near the end, it sucks too much prior to that.
You shoud probably go neutral, though part of that means siding with the Order at the bank.
Reading all the books, then doing Witcher I, then Witcher II (twice), and now going through Witcher III makes Witcher III so much better for me. So many references back to books and earlier games that would be largely lost without it.
It's pretty much treated as canon in later games anyway. I skipped Shani other than the one.
Expect swamps. Stick with it though because once you get out of the swamps it gets much better.
That image better be right, cause I own all of the witchers and haven't been motivated to play them because the beginning of the first game is complete ass.
I had to retry Witcher I years later after hearing how much better it gets. It does. The whole first act prior to the city is practically a very long drawn out tutorial.
>just make sure you get FCR
Tell me more, how and how much does it change the combat, the description on moddb is really vague.
Pump points into group style, press c and win
Expect the worst gameplay you can imagine.
Even free flash games have a better combat system.
The atmosphere and lore is quite nice.
>that's what console friends actually believe.
>though part of that means siding with the Order at the bank
Nah, I did the escape with Yavin IV and still was able to go neutral.
>helping terrorists
Fuck Yaevinn though.
Fuck all the elves, especially in this setting. And Yaevinn is even worse than the rest, fucking Iorweth calls him out on being a little faggot.
GROUP STEEL AND GROUP SILVER
MAX OUT IGNI
MAX OUT AARD TO LITERALLY STUN AND 1 SHOT KILL ANY ENEMY EVEN BOSSES
desu 3 > 2 > 1
>Witcher 1
Straight garbage, horrible pacing, combat system is more like Dance Dance Revolution than any other RPG, absolute trash tier
>Witcher 2
Huge improvement, better story, characters, pacing good up till the last act, then it falls off
>Witcher 3
One of the best RPG's ever
Did any other series improve so much with every release?
play in polish, for better voice acting
You fucking cancer are the reason video games are shit
The best narrative experience in the Witcher game series.
If you unironically think Witcher 1, this literal piece of shit, is anything but a sluggish, pretentious, pathetic excuse for an RPG then you're an absolute pleb.
>Fuck all the elves
That's exactly what the humans did.
Witcher 1 is kino as fuck you fucking cumdump.
1 > 3's expansions > 2 > 3
I played these games, back to back when Witcher 3 came out. I liked the first game the most. Felt like the most complete game from the story to the progression system to the loot. Progression system , loot, balance is fucked beyond repair in Witcher 2 and Witcher 3. Also the combat animations didn't flow well together so it felt clunky but I think it was pretty innovative. Also 10/10 soundtrack and atmosphere
Witcher 2 is better written, the story and choices feel more bolder and take chances. Out of all the games I think this is the only one that's morally ambigious, Witcher 1 is kinda but not really. But other than the story it's not THAT good. Combat is fun ,but not really well thought out or balanced. Progression system and loot makes no sense. The atmosphere and soundtrack are still good but more generic and stands out less than Witcher 1.
Witcher 3 I really hated, I thought it would be like Witcher 2 only open world. But the best parts didn't survive, it had a lot worse writing and I mean a lot worse, there was almost no hard choices or moral ambiguity, a lot of the choices were straight up retarded. And the atmosphere still wasn't as good as Witcher 1. The combat felt better in some ways than Witcher 2 but in some ways worse. Witcher 2 wasn't as floaty, and hitting shit with a sword felt satisfying. Also Witcher 2 felt like there was some sort of progression, in Witcher 3 you take out five bandits in the tuitorial and it's the same
encounter forever. In Witcher 2 it sort of worked because it's not a 100 hour game. The game is divided between long dialogues, combat and minigames, so it doesn't really overstay it's welcome. In Witcher 3 you can go a long long time without anything interesting happening, just fighitng the same reskined monsters and they can all be killed in the same way
Haven't played the DLC though, maybe I will but I really hated the third game
So Witcher 1 > Witcher 2 > Witcher 3
> pretentious,
Are you on drugs.
it's actually closer to the book in mechanics/potions and setting than the other games
Like you got a twitching talisman and you actually plan for a big monster assault - you pick your potions carefully and rest in a tavern beforehand
I enjoyed it
fuck that goddamn dog fight mission, fucking shit dicks, it was the worst encounter in all of gaming history for me
>TW1
I cannot play the series because this fucking game bores me to tear and I refuse to jump ship to 2.
the first one is complete fucking trash imo but everyone here will tell you that it gets better after the swamp, and I couldn't get past said swamp so what do I know. Also the only character that I liked was the rose knight or something like that.
TW3 is more a sequel of the books than of the other games, you can start from it if you decided to not the read the books.
I don't blame you, TW1 is just trash from start to finish, no idea why people shill this horrible game. TW2 and especially 3 are a big improvement though.
MY LUNGS
TW3 is a bad a sequel to the books as it is to the games.
Things that happen make absolutely no sense if you follow up from the book lore
Who needs Aard or swords when you've got Igni?
your mother sucks dwarf cock
1. Always trust witchers
2. Never trust ghosts
The combat is straight out of a shitty rpg, that's why you have choice for an isometric camera
/thread
...
i am a big witcher fan but never got to play this one when it was released and now the visuals and gameplay are outdated as shit, i am sure the lore is gold though, i still plan to play this one game in the future for this reason alone
...
you'll have to get into the clicking combat, I did and it was enjoybable. It's a comfy game, but can be a slog to get through. It's worth it imo.
I believe Rise Of The White Wolf contains the texture and model rework with it.
Also, you REALLY should use the Walking Speed up mod : nexusmods.com
Witcher 1 had a LOT of tedious backtracking. This mod helps cut a lot of that.
I played the game without FCR. I'll give it a try.
The problem with that mod is that the NPCs are sped up too, it's a bit jarring to say the least. I never thought that the movement speed was that slow, you just have to remember that you move way faster with your sword out and set to either the group or fast attacks mode, so definitely use that whenever possible.
>Vizima Confidential
Pure kino
>my mfw when I found out Geralt of Rivia isn't from Rivia
You should expect the best Witcher game so far, OP. However, it's still a shitty RPG when compared to the best game ever - Gothic 2: The Night of The Raven.
You want an easy win? Get igni in chapter 2 and put a shit ton of points into it. Then drink positions that increase your vigor regency and keep spamming igni. You will win every fight. End fame it gets a 360 fire ring around you so enemies easily die.
>Expect the worst gameplay you can imagine.
Pfff maybe the worst gameplay YOU can imagine.
I swear people on Sup Forums do not play videogames.
Never ever post anything again.
Garbage.
>Pretty slow beginning until you reach inside Vizima.
>After the outskirt everything will open up to you and getting good.
>Combat is pretty strange to a point it is an experiment that try to implement action element in a number-based combat system. So it is pretty shit and not everyone can take it.
>Dat swamp-level.I don't think it is very bad though.
>Strange pacing toward the end but I think it is very spot-on for Geralt.
This thread is for Witchers.
DO NOT fucking install FCR.
I used it for my 4th or 5th playthrough or something when I was very good at the game and it was a fucking pain in the ass to finish.
The battle against the Zeugl, which has never killed me before, took me about 4 hours to beat with FCR.
The changes it makes are a neat idea but it's completely broken in practice
Ok man, but tell me something about the changes themselves.
FCR was really good for me but I also had a hard time against the zeugl, I think the fight was bugged somehow, I was surprised when I beat it cause I thought I couldn't damage it.
The changes makes the combat a lot more involved by making positioning matter a lot more, it also changes the skill tree quite a bit. Then there's also a bunch of optional changes like reduced monster spawns which could potentially block you from completing certain quests if you're playing for the first time and aren't familiar with the various monsters.
It's a good mod for second playthroughs but not recommended for first time players.
Alright, thanks mate.
>get to epilogue
>do whatever it tells me to do
>boss comes up
>barley survives
Suprise, fight me or give up the grandmasters soul
What did you do Sup Forums?
De Aldersberg is mine!
You gotta learn to love the swamp.
It feels really hostile at first but as you figure it all out and level up a bit you can tame that shit.
It is the best swamp level ever.
>should I expect Sup Forums?
No.
>full lowercase
>bitches about a capital letter in "Sup Forums"
At least OP might've made mistakes but you clearly type like a retard deliberately .
