>no Gran Turismo mode >only arcade and a career mode that's similar to license tests, meant to improve your "driving skills" >it's competitive e-sport bullshit >you will never be able to beat someone with a controller if they own a $400 racing wheel
What the fuck were they thinking? This is a huge deal breaker for many people.
>the real driving simulator Meanwhile, every sim racer is still playing 10 year old games.
Daniel Green
Is it just me and my nostalgia, or did GT games gradually feel more soulless with each successive entry?
Nolan Myers
GT2, GT4 and GT5 were great, haven't played GT6 yet. Probably just you, the only one I didn't like was GT3 mainly because it's literally just GT2 but better graphics and less cars.
Nicholas Anderson
Kaz should've retired after 5.
Jason King
>game is garbage from a technical standpoint >not quite arcade racer, but not quite simulation >AI is incredibly broken >opponents get boosts so that fucking Honda BEATs and Suzuki Cappuccinos can hang with tuned GT-Rs >somehow one of the most fun driving games ever >comfy as fuck cruising the Shuto Expressway at night chopping other street racers >feels like an RPG more than a racing game most times
Online version when?
Jonathan Baker
>feels like an RPG more than a racing game most times It's not a great game by any stretch, but check out Street Supremacy (PSP version of TXR). You can't cruise the streets freely, but instead the second half of any playthrough is a Risk-style boardgame, but with cars.
Dylan Bennett
This it's more of an RPG. Only one that had decent driving was Drift 2 (Touge no Dentsu or something in Nippon) and even that asnt great but the laser mapped touges of Drift 2 are still some of the best tracks in Vidya.
I'd kill for a new TXR though.
Cameron Butler
>GT2 but better graphics and less cars. Do you mean in terms of style and setting? Because everything in redone from the ground up between those two.
Tyler Martinez
Gt5 was great? How? It was the one that got me out of the series
Jack Ward
Competitive gt3 racing is all I wanted out of this game and it's exactly what I got.
Jayden Bailey
I want competitive V8 supercars racing, its been too long
Matthew James
Gran Turismo pretty much died with 6 confirmed. And 6 wasn't really a new game, it was GT5.5 rather than a new game. Good thing Project Cars and Asetto Corsa exist.
Kevin Kelly
Not him but give 6 a chance, it's basically 5 but better and with most issues (not all of them) fixed. Quite insulting really since it feels more like a very heavily patched GT5 than a new game and yet they charged full price for it.
Bentley Jenkins
That'd be rad but those things are probably way too hard to drive for it to be any good with randos online.
Mason Bell
>Good thing Project Cars and Asetto Corsa exist. Both are awful on PlayStation though. PCARS sucks in general (not tried 2 I heard it's an improvement) and AC's devs are incompetent. rFactor 2 needs to be more popular
Wyatt Rogers
Its about time the PS4 got a good racing game besides WipEout
Joseph Harris
How wasn't it good? It wasn't amazing and I didn't really beat it but the 50-60 hours I spent on it were fun. It had everything GT4 did but more.
Last I played GT5 was in 2014, so I wouldn't mind if GT6 is the same as GT5 but more. The GT formula itself is a pretty fun thing.
Nolan Cook
GT2 is GT1.5 and GT4 is GT3.5, it has always been like that. The first one innovated with a new generations and the second one is always a big dlc with more cars and tracks
Jonathan Taylor
My personal dealbreaker is not being able to play my own music. Racing games just don't work without Eurobeat.
Zachary Lewis
GT6 is basically GT5 with slightly downgraded visuals, but higher resolution and framerate, upgraded physics, slightly upgraded audio (still subpar to Asetto Corsa and Project Cars) and more content. Oh yeah and they removed the Top Gear Test Track because Top Gear imploded, but Stig suit is still there.
Connor Moore
While I agree that GT4 is GT3.5, I think there's enough differences both in gameplay and strcture between GT1 and 2 to call them truly dirrefent entries.
Justin Nelson
AC has terrible sound, it's as bad as GT
Juan Rodriguez
Don't forget the single player "Campaign" mode requires an internet connection to save progression and the game only offers a limited amount of tracks and cars in Arcade mode if you are offline (You have to be online to have every track available).
>no Gran Turismo mode >only arcade and a career mode that's similar to license tests, meant to improve your "driving skills" It's Gran Turismo PSP all over again
Christopher Torres
>Playing through GT3 >Get to Pro events >The AI doesn't pose a single threat >Championships are 10-races long >Races are all nearly 30 minutes long Man screw this.
Samuel Nguyen
>Quite insulting really since it feels more like a very heavily patched GT5 than a new game and yet they charged full price for it.
And let's not forget how they shut down GT5 online at 6's release so more people would migrate to 6. Absolutely disgusting.
Michael Mitchell
GT2 wasn't "1.5". It was a major overhaul, GT1 is pretty much unplayable while GT2 is still very much playable to this day, I played a ton of it on my PSP.
Cameron Young
Fuck, really? I have to test this shit asap.
Brody Wright
That's because they're separately developing GT7. GT6 is just a better version of 5 mechanically.
Thomas King
PCars after a metric ton of patches and DLC (best pirate them like I did) is a completely different game than what it launched, but the game is basically NFS Shift 3 just under new name since the devs broke off from EA and EA kept the rights to Shift brand. PCars 2 by extension is NFS Shift 4.
rFactor lacks career and all the stuff I enjoy in terms of single player.
Colton Howard
Seems like they wanted to make a realistic driving game which is fucking awesome.
Josiah Cox
I don't even use PS4 that much so buying ps plus for one game i'm not sure i'll even play much just isn't worth it.
Gabriel Sanchez
>I have to test this Most games can tell when youre playing outside music and mute the ingame music
Ayden Young
It's better than GT at least which is my point, when a low budget indie game like AC can manage better sound than GT which is first party Sony title with access to IRL behind the scenes shit, backroom deals with all the big car manufacturers and whatnot, you know that it's inexcusable for having shit sound.
Easton Jenkins
But how much longer do we have to wait for GT7? 2-4 years maybe? It just sucks that we couldn't get a proper game that had everything.
Anthony Stewart
>no simulation mode ;_;
Tyler Bennett
We'll probably see it in the next two years. I can imagine a great deal of time was spent on Sport's graphics and models; with that done, GT7 won't be far away.
David Diaz
GT1 is perfectly playable today and even looks better than 2, 2 just added more tracks, cars and just overhauled the events
Dylan Hernandez
Is this game good? I fuckin' love goofy golf games.
Jose Robinson
5 was mediocre at best. 6 was better, but that's not saying much when 5 set the bar fairly low
Elijah Garcia
Yea Project Cars 2 just launched. GT Sport is fucking trash.
Adam Hill
There is 0 reason to play GT3 because 4 exists and 0 reason to play 5 when 6 exists. The first number GTs are pretty much not worth playing anymore (1/3/5).
Christian Brown
2's controls are much less arcade-y than 1's.
Ian Anderson
I sure hope you're not implying left looks better.
Luis Cox
Great. The only PS4 game I was considering picking up in months is fucking online only trash. All I wanted was to relive GT3/4 memories.
I guess it's PCars 2 or Forza 7 for me.
Dylan Turner
I thought they removed the Top Gear track because Forza had an exclusive partnership with them?
Nolan Torres
it's a shame because it looks pretty good otherwise >no ps2 models >adjustable chase cam >good sounds >decent track selection >that photo mode (im a sucker for this)
Mason Hill
>That's because they're separately developing GT7. Except they haven't said ANYTHING of the sort and in fact explicitly denied making GT7 because they want to focus on esports not with GTSport. I can even give you source if you faggots demand it. GT6 is the last real GT, at least don't expect numbered GT on this generation. If we get GT7, it will be on PS5.
Austin Robinson
are they even going to make a mainline GT game for the PS4?
Jace Stewart
AC's sound is terrible dude. modders can do better than whoever they have doing it at Kunos. They must know this as Kunos banned a sound modder from there forums for saying AC's sounds are bad on Facebook
Tyler Ramirez
It really does, with all that radiance the models in GT2 look unrecognizable, some of the european models actually look unfinished because the game is heavily rushed.
I love GT2 a lot but it made many sacrifices in quality to offer quantity
Joseph Lee
That does not look like the original PS1 games, looks emulated. Also GT1 is a fucking shell of a game.
Brody Bailey
Kaz said there's not going to be a GT7 and GT Sport is the future of the franchise. The mainline games are done
Sport's models are literally just GT6's "Premium" models with GT6's tesselation enabled. Sport pretty much just looks like 1440p version of GT6 with some minor visual improvements. It barely looks better than 6.
Liam Cooper
Even though GT2 took a hit on graphics the psychics are way better than the first GT. You can flat out a fucking Viper almost anytime even in Simulation Mode. I won't deny the first title is really good but 2 is way more enjoyable to me
Jack Moore
Its Hot Shots Golf with a really good character creator and an online mode where up to 50 people can be on the same course.
and for some reason its one of the few games that uses the display area setting, so TVs with goofy resolutions like mine get a black border on screenshots even though it fits my TV
Jacob Howard
oh shit is that who I think it is
Zachary Sanders
I have TXR3. Is Zero any better?
Jeremiah Collins
fucking asshole
Brayden Morgan
Any games with career modes like Grid 2?
Josiah Butler
Is anyone at least hype GT Sport is coming out? I just can't wait to race against bros also into racing vidya in my own customized car in championships and win and rub it in their faces
Ayden Moore
GT1: >Arcade physics >Fuck all content >Career/Events are terrible and borderline non-existant >Arcade controls >Worse music selection >Worse visuals
Even your pic explicitly shows that GT2 looks better (it's the one on the right, and don't even try lying that GT2 is on the left because I know the source of that screenshot): youtube.com/watch?v=D6Keh51KKq8
Hudson Nelson
Oh, sounds pretty awesome. Are there lots of unlocks, and is there a decent career mode? Excuse the questions, I prefer to actually hear from someone who plays games, not shills on gaming sites.
Brandon Hill
Normies are always excited by GT, see Gran Turismo in the PSP, it was a success even without campaign mode
Still I would like to punish PD by not buying Sport this time
Daniel Reyes
Fuck yes, it does actually work. Thanks you glorious faggots.
I have to reconsider GT Sport again.
Justin Roberts
>Even though GT2 took a hit on graphics It didn't though, he's full of shit, see
Mason Phillips
TXR2 is my personal favorite but probably because i have a wheel for my dreamcast but not my PS2.
Grayson Collins
It's not even 1440p. It's 1272p checkerboarded to 1800cb. But it doesn't really look good at all. Especially when you consider it has no day/night cycle and every weather condition is baked.
Thomas Thomas
Are fucking kidding me... Everyone says that they were gonna make a numbered game after Sport
Noah Collins
The F1 series and WRC
I suggest getting F1 2017 because they actually developed a skill tree leveling system in the game
Luke Jenkins
>It barely looks better than 6. Lying will get you nowhere. I've played both unlike you.
Isaac Diaz
i don't think that's fair. the lighting is noticeably better. it looks more consistent at least, GT5 and 6 looked shit at times and amazing at others
Jace Peterson
Forza is arcade trash and has been getting progressively more arcade-ish since 3. Forza 2 was the most simulator-ish out of all Forza titles.
Forza already had Top Gear at the time of GT5, they removed it because Japanese didn't understand the appeal of Top Gear (silly shit) and decided to remove it so they wouldn't have to pay the license. Top Gear imploding also helped seal the deal on Sony's part, since Sony was the ones that forced Top Gear into GT5 to begin with.
Nolan Parker
Shame that GT4 is so easy to break, money wise. >Get bronze International A licence >Win Costa di Amalfi(?) Easy event with the Nismo 270R three times >Sell the 3 prize cars >Buy the 400k Audi Touring car and upgrade it as much as possible >Play the German Touring event in B-Spec as many times as you want to sell the prize car for 743k each time >Infinite money for 0 effort
James Gutierrez
Does Sport even have Pro support?
Lincoln Carter
>not playing with your system to it's full potention
Maybe you should just sell your PS4 instead
Anthony Brown
>>no ps2 models Tbh you can avoid PS2 models in GT6 just fine, simply don't buy "Standard" version cars. There's still like 450 "Premium" cars and framerate isn't an issue like in GT5 thanks to dynamic tesselation.
Isaac Allen
Gran tourismo crashed after the perfect masterpiece that was Gran tourismo 4.
Jeremiah Morris
Why does no one ever talk about one of the best racing games ever? >waaah i cant play racing games without eurobeat WELL GUESS WHAT THIS GAME HAS AVEX TRAX SPONSORSHIP BITCH youtube.com/watch?v=4B_SKaHGPxA It's probably the fastest feeling arcade racer that doesn't involve flying cars.
David Brooks
Anyone here every play Drift City? I enjoyed that shitty game until it got sold and I couldn't access it anymore from my region.
Aiden Nguyen
LMAO NEETKUCKS GETTING TRIGGERED BY CAREER MODE
Camden Cruz
Depends on who you think it is Most of the unlocks are cosmetics, theres a few standard club sets you unlock and you eventually get access to custom clubs when you reach Special Rank offline. There's 7 ranks and it took me a while to reach the last one, and even then when you get there the boss characters come back daily for a rematch.
Eli Brooks
>It's not even 1440p. Wew lad, the original press demo was 1440p, I know because I played it. Which means they downgraded it.
Levi Perez
>Top Gear imploding Well not completely, iirc Forza 6 had some Top Gear stuff. But without Clarkson and company people sure don't care as much
Isaac Ross
yes. there's no doubt it will be the best way to play it.
Robert Williams
So have I, they added a bit more fluff on the tracks, but trees are still 2D in TWO THOUSAND FUCKING SEVENTEEN, the only major visual upgrade is lighting and shadows. Car models are literally untouched Premium models from 5/6 for returning cars. Textures are also slightly better but not to the point that they look next-gen.
Thomas Cox
But buying used cars feels better than premium cars somehow. So I should be avoiding all used cars then?
Eli Collins
Reminder that Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune is a reskinned TXR
>just avoid this significant part of the game's content i can see what you're saying but it sucks seeing a specific car that you want, viewing it and seeing those rough textures + no interior
granted is was a lot worse in 5
Andrew Bailey
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN
Wyatt Robinson
Everybody's Golf is my personal GOTY so far. Shit went largely under the radar but the game is fun as hell
Hudson Campbell
>not winning it with a bone-stock Galant VR-4
Christian Russell
>restart a race in GT4 >game considers it a loss and your stats now have a permanent lost race in it, it'll never be 100% >have to restart ps2 or upgrade cars to maximum for every race to avoid this
Yeah, truly a masterpiece
Carter Brown
Nope, all my hype evaporated when they confirmed no career mode, and when they said it was always online that was the final nail for me, I'm skipping it entirely and sticking to 6 and Project Cars instead.
GT PSP was shit, I don't know why people liked it, I had way more fun just playing GT2 on my PSP.
