To be honest, I've gotten as far as getting the Ice Beam and Spider Ball. It's improved slightly, but I feel like I'm only playing this out of obligation. It's just not as fun as it should've been. The controls are clumsy, combat is dull, enemy placement is often infuriating, TOO MANY FUCKING BATS, Metroid fights are boring and the circle pad for 2D is cancer.

You're still in the early game, it does get better. The early-mid part of the game is pretty slow, but once you get to Area 4 it really starts to pick up.

Not once in any 2D Metroid have I ever had to "get used" to controls. Never had a problem with aiming upwards or diagonally, jumping, grabbing platforms, rapidly switching to ball mode or precision platforming. Until now.

I got the game yesterday and that's pretty much what I think too. It got better in Area 4, but it's only because of the Spazer making the normal enemies easier to kill without having to aim as much, counter, or ice beam + quick hit or missile.

I just about to finish my first 100% speedrun and its bordering 5 hours, any% run took me 2:45. I don't know if my routes just really impractical and needs to be optimized or if its just really fucking hard to do.
