Can we all agree that Kirby 64 is the worst Kirby game?
Can we all agree that Kirby 64 is the worst Kirby game?
It's the only one I've ever actually enjoyed playing.
Air Ride's multiplayer was pretty good too
No
Return to dreamland was bland and Kirby Adventure is bad
I bet you decorate your house with garbage
I know this is bait but please explain yourself op on the off chance you are actually this retarded.
64 is the last good Kirby. Everything after was garbage
this is not bait, this is the most overrated piece of shit I've ever played. Combining powers would be cool if these powers didn't stop/slow your movement so badly. Combined powers seem pretty wack and not creative, the game overall is slow as fuck and a huge drag. Boss fights are free as fuck.
I swear for the longest time I've seen a lot praise 64 but nowa days I just see so many saying it's the worst.
there's a really cool cheat code you can add on emulators to make it run at 2x its normal speed. Feels satisfying as all hell
because it aged like milk
>aged like milk
good crticism
Squeak Squad exist, so no.
yeah you're right, you can't age like milk when the game was bad from the beginning.
...
>Combining powers would be cool if these powers didn't stop/slow your movement so badly.
What are you talking about?
Best soundtrack
Combining powers mean discovering the different combinations on your own.
it provided you with a good variety of different powers while making the base powers less redundant, and easier to design levels around.
Contrarianism.
If too many people like it then the contrarians come out of their cucksheds to shit on it. Obviously not everyone is going to like a game, but it's certainly not the worst in the series.
The bad combos probably.
>kirby 64
>the one with the most interesting and fun mechanic, combining powers
>worst
Nah shut up
>slow
Stop trying to speedrun it then
>uncreative
fucking how? Give an explaination that isn't "it sux"
yeah dude, look at all these useful and unique powers!
28 powers, looks fun as fuck. I remember liking stone cutter bird form
Are you being sarcastic? Cause that shit is fun yo
Oh, fuck off already. Your thread is shit.
I used Fridge as much as I could just because it was hilarious
64 is one of the best Kirby games. It's super comfy, has some of the best aesthetics, mixing powers is super fun, the winding path of the levels makes things feel much more alive and is sorely missed in new games, and Checkerboard Chase is the GOAT minigame
I don't understand, a good majority of those are useful. I'm actually surprised how many of those I use come to think of it. The only ones I barely use are the Fire+Needle (which you still need for a Crystal Shard), Fire+Electric and Fire+Ice.
Squeak Squad's the worst, if only because of how lacking it is in overall content. All the games are pretty fun though.
Kirby 64 is the only kirby game that felt like it was a true "next gen" game at the time of release.
The 2.5 perspective. the power combining. No other kirby games felt as impressive for the console they were on. Either technically or content wise.
Nah Epic Yarn is garbage.
This is how 3D sidescrollers should be made. Making a whole 3D world then moving the camera around that with single paths instead of keeping everything the same except adding 3D graphics
Double electricity cracks me up
This guy knows what's up
Fireworks were fucking broken. Completely trivialized an already easy game.
rock + bomb is for real men.
Sakurai pls go
Kirby 64 is one of the best Nintendo games. I didn’t like how later games just went back to having one powerup.
...
It's a fun game and combining powers was a neat feature, however after replaying it recently it does feel like a lot of combos are super lackluster compared to others. Fire+Needle for flaming bow&arrow for example is absolutely cancerous.
At least Star Allies is somewhat returning to the mixed copy abilities finally.
Not him, but a lot of powers aren't constantly on, you have to basically cast them before you can use them, which slows you down if not outright stopping you.
Flame sword and light saber are good examples of slowing you down just to be able to use the weapon. But then you have to put them away to progress in many cases because apparently Kirby didn't learn how to float with weapons yet.
Ninja star is very obvious when it stops your movement completely, but I'm pretty sure that's purposeful for the whole ninja theme.
Most ice abilities at least half your speed, except curling stone and iceskates which actually speed you up for a time.
These are off the top of my head so maybe there are better examples, but the point is simply using abilities means it's not a fast paced game, even though many sections are designed to be done fast.
I don't get why they didn't have the combining powers thing in any of the other ones. That shit was cool as fuck to my 11-year-old self, having previously only ever played Kirby's Dream Land on Game Boy, which didn't have any powers at all.
Lol Imagine if someone walked in on their parent fucking while playing this
>I don't get why they didn't have the combining powers thing in any of the other ones
because it's only a good idea in theory. in practice it creates mostly boring and useless powers that don't add any depth to the game.
The pasta was about Kirby's Pinball for GB not Tilt 'n Tumble
Is she ever coming back, guys?
god i wanna fuck her so badly
Who /fridge/ here?
An overpowered ability in a kirby game?!?! no......
I disagree and choose Klonoa did that aspect better. I love both games, but there is no denying that Klonoa did it better.
>not fridge
it did damage and restored your health at the same time
It's the best one but I'm probably the only one
I'm comparing 64 to other kirby games, not other platformers
I thought we all agreed Squeak Squad was the least good Kirby game
The game isn't so hard that you have to use the most powerful ability. Some are just fun to use, even if there are other abilities better than them.
>Oh no, she's evil again
>Gotta collect some mcguffins to save her
>Turns out she's not posessed
>She just realized being evil is awesome now that she had a taste of power
>Thanks for collecting the mcguffins that will make her omnipotent, btw
Maybe back then when every other Kirby game was really good, but now we got shit like Canvas Curse
what's wrong with canvas curse?
Maybe as a silhouette cameo in one of those sequences where Kirby gets applauded on stage. I can't realistically see her having other stories she could be used for, unless they also bring back Dark Matter. Which I do expect will happen one day, but it's one of those things where even though I'm pretty sure it'll happen I couldn't tell you when or with how much warning.
Aesthetically, I think it's one of the worst. I like everything else about it though.
Yes, it's certainly not a fast-paced game. If you don't like an ability then you can just not use it in most cases. There's only a few shards that require the usage of certain abilities. Hell, you can even beat the levels without any abilities at all. Only a few abilities significantly slow you down if you do it on purpose. Not everything is equally useful and it doesn't have to be. None of these appear to be negative points for me except
>even though many sections are designed to be done fast.
and I don't understand what you mean. Which sections require you to be fast?
Ah gotcha, my bad.
You've never even played the game, have you?
If she returns, Japan would eat her alive and the madokaXkirby fanart would skyrocket.
When the environs starts falling apart, like the sand filling up the stair case in the stone world, or lava filling a chamber you have to run away from in the fire world, or places where pillars are crushing together and you have to time your jumps so you don't get crushed.
If you have a weapon that slows you down, it's not really that fun to attack the enemies in your way while also avoiding the oncoming environs if your ability slows you down each time. So your option is to just run like a bat out of hell and just avoid everything including the enemies. It limits you, and that's not always what you feel like doing.
>Implying there's never been any broken abilities in any Kirby game
Rock says hello.
Bomb + Cutter.
Fast, Powerful, Fun as fuck.
Then get a better ability.
You can change your ability in Kirby games.
THEY BETTER PUT THE LIGHTSABER ABILITY IN KIRBY BATTLE ROYALE
this. There's abilities like that in every Kirby game. If you don't like them, don't use them
What makes the average Kirby game fun despite the lack of challenge is the smooth as silk controls, shitloads of enemies and abilities, and elaborate bosses. Canvas Curse fucked all that up.
The funny part is that they already solved the lack of variety problem with spinoffs like Pinball and Dream Course: just make the game actually tough and it'll fun again
Are you seriously struggling with a Kirby game?
There are plenty of abilities that let you clear enemies without slowing you down. Or you can even outright ignore them and even if you don't the timing is more than generous. Literal children can beat this on their first try. Jesus Christ.
Not by a long shot. I'd say Dreamland 3 or Kirby's Avalanche. Kirby's Pinball Land, while being an amazing concept, was also massively flawed. It needs a remake badly.
Kirby's Adventure felt like a next gen game while being on the previous gens console.
>Kirby's Adventure
>bad
Underage b8 plz go
No, it's one of the best.
I'm playing Kirby's return to Dreamland (gba remake) and that shit is tedious, you lose your ability with every hit and enemies are badly positioned.
Egoraptor said it's bad.
...
>Fireworks, ice skates, darth maul, missile launcher, shuriken bomb
fuck this game had fun power ups
No, but combining abilities is overrated. The game itself is as well, to an extent, but there are plenty of weaker entries in the series.
That's retarded. Fairy Queen fags are the worst.
literally the only thing I want is Plasma + Sword or Plasma + Hammer
that or Jet + Hammer, but I know that combo is definitely not in the game.
Really? Because I could honestly believe this is the reason I see it now.
Dream Land 1, 2, and 3 are objectively worse.
Threadly reminder that Shigesato Itoi is Shinichi Shimomura. It was a pseudonym for when he worked on the Kirby series.
You mean the best, fucknut. Combo powers.
i just wanna fuck her
I like this conspiracy theory
Dream Land 1 and 2 are among the best and 3 is alright. The worst are probably Triple Deluxe, Rainbow Curse, Fighters Deluxe, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and Blowout Blast.
>Plasma + Sword
Well you got that, look at the life bar from the latest trailer, it shows a Helper having Sword+Spark/Plasma.
>Jet + Hammer
Would it be like Dedede's Hammer from Smash 4 then?
>Dream Land 1, 2, and 3 are objectively worse
How would that be a conspiracy?
why
that's like clark kent taking off his glasses and it turns out he's a different reporter for the daily planet
...
Because the people who developed the game with him would've had to conspire to hide his true identity as Itoi. It's not complicated. Conspiracy theories aren't all X-Files shit, user.
It probably hasn't been revealed yet but does this game have online multiplayer? It looks like the perfect couch game but messing around in Sup Forums lobbies sounds really fun.
