How much more will Triple A games ruin this industry? How can we save it?

>How can we save it?
Easy. Stop buying that shit.

the survival crafting thing is more indie than triple a but the rest is spot on

I can't wait for gaming to become just like mobile, with shitty ads popping up in single player games or other cancerous shit.

It is in Triple A.
Many games shove in crafting or some survival elements when they don't fucking need to.
Seems like AC: Origins simply copied Witcher 3 leveled items and crafting (aka worst part of gameplay) just because the game was successful.
Because of sheer scale that AAA games are created, there is no room to improvements. Devs have to play it safe to please investors.

Again for the hard-of-understanding: "Voting with your wallet" is an asymmetrical process. It doesn't matter how many people refuse to pay as long as enough people - even if only a minority - do so to make the endeavor commercially viable.

So yeah, we don't buy and it still get done.

I am but that doesn't stop retarded normalfags from buying it all

pirate all games with singleplayer microtransactions

You can't, we're not the target audience and haven't been for a decade now. Patreon is another thing that has no right to exist but will continue to do so because retards love throwing money away.

>(((multiple endings)))
>early access
>crowdfunding
>episodic
>procedurally generated
>shitty ports

poor froppers

The next big thing to ruin gaming will be this push to stream instead of own. Like the Playstation Now shit. you won't need to own a console, just rent a game out for $5 and get to play it for a night. hope you like waiting behind 50 other users until you get your turn.

Pretty much this We're doing our part, but we're also in the minority at this point, which is kinda sad that we've been following vidya before it was really popular and yet these strangers are changing our hobby

Not this exactly but something similar. Square already said they are interesting in "games as a service" thing which honestly fucking sucks.
Dunno what happened, but when games went mainstream it all got ruined.

Don't play AAA.

how's the manga? better/worse than the anime?

I agree everything but the first three. Those are good things if done right. Rest is shit no matter how you do it.

anime is pretty good but I like the manga more. So far they've done a bang up job adapting it.

Even "cinematic experience" can be done well. Look MGS series.
Points are that many Triple A games use shit like this when they don't even need it.
Horizon Zero Dawn went for typical meme mechanics and realistic style when to be honest it could to much better.
If they gave the game it's own ideas instead of copying everything popular, it would be a very solid title.

MGS is more like an animated movie than game at this point.

>at this point

but V was a huge shift in priority and was very light on story for the most part. you'd definitely have a point when talking about 4 though.

Well that's because MGSV went for typical AAA memes like Open World and it suffered because of that. No more interesting boss fights and missions or memorable moments. There was nothing in MGSV that was like the ladder in MGS3.
The same with BotW. It might be a fun Open World game, but going for that format everything else suffered. No more fun and unique thematic dungeons. Story and characters are bad. Music is the worst in the series etc.

Microtransactions are a malignant cancer.

I knew this would get posted.

This desu.
Microtransactions are turning gaming to be like mobile market.

Don't forget procedural generated

Why design your own levels when the game can make them for you?!

>How can we save it?
Let AAA crash under their absurd marketing budgets, and purchase/tell others about niche indie games actually worth checking out
