All the shitstorm about paid mods aside, is this game worth picking up for 30$?

Nope, one of the shittiest games I've ever seen. Play New Vegas instead. Even if you already have, play it again.
It's only a decent game if you mod it into a hardcore survival game where you get raped and impregnated when you are about to die.
I'm holding out for a complete edition for $20. Waited this long, can wait longer.
The only thing good about it are the updated shooting mechanics. Just pirate it if you're that curious
Honestly, not really. It's worth maybe half that, even with the DLC.
New Vegas isn’t on PS4. Isnt F4 a graphically updated version of F3?
3 and 4 are shitty, casual nu-games and neither of them are Fallout. Either play 1, 2 or New Vegas or do not bother with Fallout.
If you have a PC made in the last 10 years you should be able to play NV on it.
I never bought it because I was so pissed off about the dialog system, I don't think even mods could fix it.
you own a ps4 so you'll love it
It runs like a garbage on my system I dont know why.
My pc just cant run Gamebyro games.
You're supposed to encourage shit eating console children to learn their mistakes and improve, not continue to pay to eat liquid diarrhea. If they never learn then Beth get to pillage Fallout's corpse forever.
Damn nigga it might be time for an update.
not even that.
The shooting is better, but still not good, and the graphics are more advanced, but overall inconsistent, everything else is worse, and I mean that literal.
$30 for just the base game? No.
$10 for the base game and all the dlc, yes, but only if you have a pc and install mods
If you want to play Skyrim again with even worse dialogue and plot and a Fallout for stupid people coat of paint then go ahead
For 30$? Only with DLC included, otherwise I would say 15 at most.
Like all bethesda games they remove the role playing from their RPGs.
>RP is straight away limited as you are given a heterosexual marriage + child (Which is extra weird considering 5min after start you can start sexing a black guy)
>Skills are chance based, You can talk like a rocket scientist despite having Intelligence 1 if you're lucky enough with your roll (or quicksave a lot)
>If the NPC is used for any quest he will just sit down instead of dying and telling you that you failed the quest (Like a good RPG would do, looking at you New Vegas / Morrowind) They will also be friendly again after getting up, no hard feelings.
>First time in diamon city Someone gets his head blown off for not putting his gun away and you think "Oh hey, I better behave here or the guards will fuck me up" NOPE can draw your gun fine, fuck can even shoot, fuck can even throw grenades as long as you don't hit people.. FUCK CAN EVEN KILL CATS AND NOBODY IN THIS CITY GIVES A FUCK, It's just a dumb scripted event and nobody cares.
>You can build a town but it's utterly fucking useless, only costing you materials and NOT rewarding you with anything worthwhile.
>You can only have one buddy because they have a dumb +rep system where they wanna fuck you if you do shit they like. (evil guys like evil acts, good guys like decent deeds. how original, this is how love works)
>Can't put protective armour over suits and other clothing (mods fix this)
>Everyone lives in dumb african nigger shacks
Like.. lots of the housing is intact, There is forest nearby, they HAVE saws and building tools, yet for some fucking reason they just make retarded corrugated sheet metal shacks everywhere instead of at the very least building a fucking log house FROM ALL THAT WOOD.
>Power armour has 5min batteries
I see the point why they did it (PA is OP in this game) but that shit was supposed to last longer than the dude in the armour
REMINDER.
STOP MAKING TODD THE MEME. THIS IS THE MAN, EMIL PAGLIARULO, WHO IS THE ROOT OF ALL THE FALLOUT 3 AND 4 SERIES' PROBLEMS.
I bought it for £10 from cdkeys.com a few months ago. It's genuinely not good and i love Bethesda games.
Man its a massive let down but great game to play none of the less i put the time into platinum ttrophy in just like 2 days its kinda repetitive but go for everythign explore everything cook do weapon mods make shit with chemist perk really try to take it all in and the immersion it tries to give because once you complete it once its kinda really boring afterwards after you've discovered area's its like £9 now with a season pass that goes on sale regularly on the ps4 down to like £25 or you could buy the GOTY edition dropping soon
No. If there is one game I would tell people to pirate it is FO4. Just pirate it and fuck around with mods that erase as much of the story, characters, and writing as possible, then it might be fun for you.
if you want the best experience i advise playing on survival
You know what makes me extra pissed about the shack housing? They go for the laziest "cobbled together" look with planks of wood and sheets of metal just hanging off the frame any which way instead of just put together straight.
Like fucking why would anyone do this ever? It's the laziest way to design shit. And don't get me started on the weapons.
For 30? yeah its worth it, but make sure you get some mods. Without the mods its kinda boring. Make sure to get mods that remove trash if your into building.
Thats because MUH BOST APOKOLIPTICS FEEL, remember?
I havent seen a sale on Fallou 4 on PSN yet, when was the last sale?
Is the closest sale in christmas?
the season pass, the game is cheap at like £9
I really hate how your SPECIAL stats only exist so the game can tell you which talents to take. I went into it thinking that it was an rpg where strength, perception, charisma, etc would be a part of exploring and interacting with the world. What I ended up with was a shitty character that didn't invest deeply enough to unlock any of the actual useful abilities and too deep into trees that are just pure garbage no matter what you plan to do.
But I think the biggest disappointment is that the game has so many areas and dungeons to go through but none of them have any treasure of worth at the end of it. You get some form of modified pipe pistol and your 12th set of power armor that you can't make use of unless you max out science. The loot system is so dumb because all the good equipment comes off of star enemies. The only good way to get equipment is to travel back and forth to a place you know star enemies will spawn.
But the game is kind of fun. If you don't have anything better to do it's not like it's a terrible game. And it's not like the genre has any competition at all, so it's better than going to play Skyrim again.
Oh yeah that's on top of it, it's not even a semi decen't put together thing, It's like something a bunch of one armed children build.
If I'm not mistaken the first people started to re-take the surface around 2090, F4 takes place in 2287 meaning there were Humans on the surface for almost 300 years. fuck, even if we say "maybe they didn't exit that early" even if humans came back to boston around 2190 that's still almost a 100 years. That's FOUR fucking generations (probably more, I'd image lifespan is short and people fuck younger in the wasteland) of people LIVING IN TERRIBLE FUCKING SHACKS. That's a thing acceptable for the first few weeks / months after resurfacing. But fuck, in F4 it's a permanent feature.
I don't get it at all.
I would not by any means recommend this game.
Guy with a massive hateon for F4 here.
I wouldn't say that. By all means F4 (and Skyrim) SCREAMS of mediocrity but if you can get it for 15$ or under, it's worth a play trough for sure.
It's a great experience the first, maybe second time through. As an RPG it's a huge letdown, but it isnt an awful game.
Here are some things to know, for maximum enjoyment:
>the beginning of the game is very railroaded. Every time you start a new game, you're heavily goaded into doing the first few tutorial quests, which offer no freedom. So, the first hour or two of gameplay will be pretty much the same each playthrough, which makes new characters a real pain in the ass
>settlements need to be babysat and only really make things worth it when you're able to get them to the highest tier. You can move settlers. Don't be afraid to not make settlements and ignore Preston. The Minutemen faction cannot be turned away from you.
>one way supply lines can be created between settlements. Have one settlement as your base of operations where you bring all of your junk and resources.
>don't go for a themed character. The role-playing elements are castrated. Make a primary character and just... dress him how you want. But dont dedicate his personality to a single faction or concept
>there are 4 factions to join but the fork appears very late. It's best to save before you choose and just reload your character depending on who you feel like joining rather than creating an entirely new character
>don't infiltrate the Institute too quickly. It's fun to leave them mysterious, especially since so many side quests and encounters play on this
Happy hunting!
>For 30$? Only with DLC included, otherwise I would say 15 at most.
Got it about 2 weeks ago for $35 with DLC from some key reseller. Not too bad if you don't expect anything from the story. I'm mainly here for gameplay. The combat is the best Fallout has seen in my case. Plus I love the way PA feels and works in this game. Upgrading it and painting it is tons of fun. I'm also with you with how fusion cores work. I get that they have to somehow limit how much time you spend in the armor, but retconning how long the power lasts in the suits wasn't the right way to do it. Plus after about 10 hours in the game, even without scrounger, you'll be rolling in so many fusion cores that you can spend however much time you want in power armor even without nuclear physicist.
Also they should've at least keep traits in. Thank god for mods and it seems like Cascadia is even putting skills back in. I think they might even have skill checks too.
I'm right with you on the Power armour.
First of all: longer fusion core time according to skills is fucking retarded. Second of all: it makes ZERO sense lorewise. WHY would you go to battle in a suit that turns you into a fucking turtle on its back if you're not in and out in under 10min. Personally I just never used PA, and like you said it's obvious they did it for balance reasons but fucking hell.
Let's get one thing straight:
Far Harbor is FANTASTIC.
The fact that they made PA literally just different armor plates on the same exact frame was retarded.
Sure, it really is a decent game
I liked it better than 3, honestly. It makes for a fun FPS with a decent loot system, even if nothing else about it interests you.
This is one of those games that, 5 years from now, Sup Forums will say "hey you know what F4 was pretty damn good"
Nice punctuation.
>Would you recommend it?
Absolutely not
I mean, in previous games it was just super heavy armour that behaved like light armour.
Pick your poison.
it looks fantastic because of the shitfest the base game is, but by itself it's just ok
How about the Fallout 4 thing where they behave like big stompy vehicles instead of just naother suit of armor, but the literally every other game thing where suits are rare and have different abilities from each other.
Keep the upgrading and customization, just make it based on the suits themselves instead of frames.
do you like New Vegas or the roleplaying parts of 3? Then don't get 4
Do you like autistically picking up everything that isn't nailed down and subpar shooting? Then you'll enjoy 4
No. Buy another fallout game. You'll taint your whole experience with the fallout series if this is your first. Even 3 is better.
>30$
more like $10 and that's only for mods.
Depends, does the combat look fun to you?
It's a really weak rpg, so you'd have to be looking for more of an action shooter.
I couldn't get into it.
Honestly no. It has terrible writing, pointlessly simple RPG mechanics, no real opportunities for role-playing, a barren and lifeless world that isn't even fun to explore, and almost nothing worth recommending. I haven't been so disappointed in a game in a very long time.
>>RP is straight away limited as you are given a heterosexual marriage + child
Never considered this a problem since every single companion you get apparently swings both ways.
drugs
its a shooter like call of duty, play it if you like fpses
I'd like to know how a straight man wakes up after 200 years without pussy and suddenly turns gay
It's basically crap that is unworthy of the Fallout name. Do the Steam family plan thing and play some friend's copy. Don't pay one cent for that train wreck.
If you can't play New Vegas on PC, pick up Horizon Zero Dawn for your PS4. Both had the same lead writer/narrative designer - John Gonzalez.
Sure, you can be gay and that's kinda cool, (allthough litterally everyone being bi is kinda weird) but I feel like for an RPG F4 has WAY too much established Background.
Take new Vegas, if you play a male you get this:
>you are male
>you took on a job as courier.
everything else you can make up yourself as you like, you can be pacifist, you can be a scientist, you can be a gun nut or a muscle junkie.
F4 male:
>You used to be in the Army
>You used to be Infantry (So right away not being trained in Laser Rifles automatically does not make sense, story wise)
>you actively care about veteran events
>you are actually a recognized war hero
>you are in a heterosexual marriage
>you have a son
>you have enough money to afford a nice house and a robot servant
That is SUPER limiting for making your own character. Wanting to play Pacifist turns into "I guess he turned pacifist after years of service and being a war hero" while not unrealistic, it is uneccesary and eliminates the "never spilled blood in his life", if you want to roleplay a scientist you have to go "I guess he started studying a lot after the military" Instead of having you own Idea how your character came to be, you get some twisted version of "after the military and between finding a loving wife and having a child with her"
Question about Fo4: Can I just go around killing named NPCs? New Vegas let me.
Horizon zero dawm looks pretty interesting. Will pick it up if it ever goes on sale.
