Watching CEOtaku and SCR was fun but actually playing is just as fun

I'm just happy that my boy Hyde won.
Hyde took CEOtaku against an Akatsuki
Waldstein took SCR by a landslide. SCR even had an Enkidu in Top 8
It was great
Lobby will be up in a few. Have to renew this PS+
I'll be honest, I didn't know you could immediate block after dodging until I saw it today during CEOtaku. I better start using that.
uniel pc lobby where
unist pc release when
>chaos and akatsuki in top 4
>character diversity restored
RETRIBUTION
I'm a bit disappointed I didn't see a Nanase though, I always need to watch higher level players to figure out just how fucking dumb my playstyle really is.
I only caught Top 8 unfortunately. Hopefully they'll upload pools or the Top 24
You could always watch Over the World matches if you want to see some high level Nanase. It was great seeing Chaos though, those wallbounce combos man. I need to study those once they get uploaded.
Admittedly, I wanted Seth to win the West Coast tourney so we could have canon Hyde vs Seth/East vs. West hype but oh well.
Room: vidya
Pass: vee
I still can't believe that a team with mika won Over the World
And depending on tonight goes, I might just rollback the schedule and just have lobbies from Monday-Thur
Have this semi-implicative win quote from Wagner vs Hyde
twitter.com
Welp, went and got this game(st) after watching that tournament and because of some /vg/user's recommendation last night. Heard there might be lobbies organized here, after screwing around all day in practice mode with best girl Hilda I kinda wanna mash against some human players...
Come and join the kumite, user
in english please
>hilda
please have mercy
Is the lobby full? Doesn't seem to be any rooms open even without searching by name. I'm on the west coast if that matters.
No, it's not full. You have to use the keyword vee to actually find it.
We do password rooms so here
Wagner doesn't like his sort of demeanor
Oh awesome! I apologize in advance for my noobness, my only real experience in fighting games is Tekken 7 and the extent of my knowledge is blocking lows and using aa for overheads. What's the colour by everyone's name by the way?
No worries. Everyone starts somewhere. Just be sure to look up some stuff on Mizuumi wiki.mizuumi.net
as for ranks, see pic related
rank
blue lowest: purple highest
We seem to have a lot of new people who came from Tekken
ranks are like light blue, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple or something (in ascending order)
white is unranked
I found some time to play this morning and got to play against another Yuzu main. He crushed me so badly that he got double perfects for 6 of the 12 matches. He was doing stuff I didn't even know she could do. I think I'm in over my head trying to play her.
Add this diagram in there somewhere
I plan on only being here for a short time. Got to rest up for work tomorrow after the looney weekend I had. I practices in the lab for a bit to get myself out of Tekken 7 mode. Lets see if I've improved.
As for me I'm just exploring the genre and I really liked the Touhou fighting games so I wanted to try more of the flashy anime stuff.
Yuzuriha seems like a character who everyone has some different sort of Bnbs for. You just have to find your own stride, man.
>Merk is using 22C a lot more
Oh boy
>Green = Casual
gah, the truth hurts
what's everyone's rank in the lobby?
I'm more proud of the fact that I have real conversions off of 66B now.
Good mix of ranks, usually. I think we only have 1 purple, though.
You mentioned you messed around in Training Mode, new-Hildafag. You should try out the mission modes for her cause the tutorial/missions for this game are highly lauded for good reason. Watch this for good measure if you haven't
youtube.com
It wasn't combos, it was just the movement. Constantly teleporting and controlling everything.
The best way I learned was just to imitate what I saw, worked out pretty well for me.
Yup, I can manage most of the mid to low level combos and most of the high level ones. Although in actual games I have trouble pulling them off consistently. I think my biggest issue is having weak to zero grasp of the fundamentalsin this game(like movement which is very different from Tekken) as my Japanese isn't good enough to understand all of the tutorial.
I don't think my hands can do what he doing.
It's been a while since I was in an Under Night thread. New job still prevents me from playing on weekdays though. One of these days I'll get back into it.
How's yuzuanon doing with Yuzu?
Yeah I don't think any of us really benefited from the tutorial as much as we should have. This is definitely something you gain from constantly playing
poor guy's life is constant suffering as always
Apparently, a bit discouraged as of late
I've gotten worse
Yeah, having exposure or just spectating these matches seem to be very informational. How good is the arcade mode AI in your opinion? Because that's 100 percent of my match experience.
They can combo your ass without too much trouble but their neutral is absolute ass.
The only thing that arcade mode is good for is practicing hit confirms. Even then it's better in real matches. Fighting against CPUs teaches bad habits.
If you're at a loss of what to do, spam that 236A
Yuzu is in those upper tiers in terms of execution but as long as they're not combos, you could at least learn some patterns or imitate it to the best of your ability
you should really be using some of your specials hilda
GURIM REAPAH
Oh that's right how you counter those whiffs isn't it?I completely forgot about them cause I thought it'd be unsafe to spam those against you guys.
Unless you're actually in someone's face comboing, Hilda's entire game is ranged based so you're better off firing off all those and make it hell for anyone to close in on you.
Ah right, that was what the tutorial recommended me to do as well. Is Chaos a similar character in that regard?
nice sudden 5 frame delay
no he's more of a trap/mixup character, the only other dedicated zoner is vatista.
In some ways. Characters with ranged movesets like Vatista and Hilda can excel at keeping people away but they can also have some scary offensive pressure on them as well. Chaos can bully people across the screen with his lizard but up close he can create some serious pressure by sandwiching you in-between the lizard's hits as well as his own.
Kinda. Chaos WANTS to do pressure, but since he can't actually get in, he lets his lizard do all the work from across the entire screen until they get sick and try to get in on unfavorable terms. Vatista's more of a zoner, but she also has scarier pressure.
Merk beating through all my characters today
When should I bother learning a secondary character?
>not playing every character
I'm too stupid to learn that many playstyles.
When you can't deal with a match-up? I honestly play other characters because I like the feeling I get when I can do their cooler looking combos. That or if you just want to change up the pace.
bad matchups
this isn't like Blazblue where you have to play around a drive, UNI is a lot easier to pick up and play new characters that aren't like Seth/Yuzu/Vatista.
>The FF to shield rush
>Shield rush to sword
I am pleased with the progress, Wagnerfag. You still need to work on cleanly converting into some guaranteed damage and knowing what supers you can cancel into to finish someone off.
I literally spent a hour straight in training mode with Akatsuki throwing fireballs and doing FF in to sheild bash in to sword rush to get it down.
I'll get you before this night is over.
Woah, everyone's connections just turned into 0's and 1's. That sure as hell isn't a good sign.
Yeah I just DC'd out of spectator. Guess it's a sign telling me to experiment more in training mode. Thank for the invite guys, enjoy the rest of the night!
fuck, that was 9 frame delay the whole game for me.
Keep up your practicing and thanks for stopping by.
I was sitting at 8. Everything seems to be back in order though.
Thats my last of the night. I need to go to bed for work in the morning.
t. Shitty Wagner
Thanks as always for stopping on by
I'm just happy that I actually remembered to CVO
Akatsuki's IW damage is the highest in the game for some reason.
Is there a matchup chart for Unist? I don't think I've seen one yet.
Only one I saw was for a Hilda player who ranked her problematic/advantageous matchups
I'LL GET YOU YET, MERK
my lab hours are paying off.
>tfw merk and hippie have a real rivalry full of constant back and forth battles
>tfw just the victory lap even though i always get stuck fighting with them
it hurts
i wish the good chaos player would come back and put me to shame so i could finally commit sodoku
Wonder where Tien actually went.
On your end though I still think the 236A 214A-B 236B 623B for Azhi is worth getting into muscle memory.
I think you just need to rethink the character a little. Zoning with the lizard isn't effective against most of the cast so you should focus more on setting up lizard mixups on knockdown. less Nu-12 more Carl Clover.
kaze yo
Two characters say that
cougar
>Spend too much time trying to punch Merk to death with Enkidu that my Hyde can't deal with it somehow despite better tools
GUESS HYDE'S GETTING THE MEAT GRINDER THIS WEEK
im not sure what you mean
do Eltnum players get used to the timing of the purple reload or do they just look at the bar whenever they have to?
gotta use the force function to set up tricky side switch mixups after you do 22A/B chaos's zoning is weak so you generally want to stay on top of the opponent.
Less full-screen pressure, more close-up sandwiching
I've heard from multiple that you just get the timing down by enough practice without looking
alright thanks
Well that was qucik
alrighty, with that Ill take my leave and sleep. gg's all.
Thanks for stopping by
Alright then, two more and then I'll close it off for tonight.
ggs, I think I actually learned something tonight.
That was a fruitful sunday lobby.
Let's see how well it is tomorrow. Thanks again to everybody that played.
