What went wrong?
What went wrong?
money
Greed aka human nature
steam
People stopped making content for them, so they so can't take credit anymore
They have no competition, no drive, and are content with making skins for the rest of their lives.
I used to consider them the closest thing to a Western Nintendo
620PX-9TFQ7-JPCZT
they can’t count to 3
at these point the games don’t need to be amazing, they can be decent, and they’ll still make a ton of money
what was this
Gabe memes made them believe that their fans were too indulgents.
Rising Storm 2
Zeno Clash 2
They found out that selling games is more profitable than making games.
hats
skins
esports
market
trading cards
nothing, you are literally a communist if you hate them
The growth of Steam and the fact that consumers are stupid and fell for the crate/trading card shit. In fact, they fell for it so hard that they left Valve with no other choice but to cash in. Making games just isn't worth the risk for them right now.

They put too much effort in experimental projects like SteamOS and their VR. Neither of these things are viable for the average user.
At this point, it seems like they're trying to perfect the "Minimum work, maximum profit" concept. They have the community fund their Dota tournaments, they outsource their skins/hats/events for Dota/TF2 by having the community do it.
As far as the company goes, they're doing great. It's just not benefiting the users, which is why everyone's upset with them.
Holy shit thanks user. May you be blessed with eternal pussy and success.
Damn some people are fucking fast.
Not even up for a minute and they're already gone
Dragon's Dogma
>We've moved beyond the episodic model
>Now our model is absolutely nothing
What games were they?
You are welcome, figured I'd get rid of some old codes I had lying around.
All I read about now is game studios/devs making retarded decisions. Are there any good devs left in the world?
>dont give a fuck about games anymore
>monolopy on game distribution
>fuck over their esports titles
>act like a pretentious fuck and dont communicate with the community
they need to take a hint from riot games
>Hector: Episodes 1-3
>Prison Architect
>The Flame in the Flood
>Superhot

Fuckin' Psychonauts, god damn thank you.
They go where the money is. Always did. It was great when money was in creating and expanding on new IPs with innovative mechanics and game design. Then they realized that the real money was in the far less time consuming creation of virtual hats. Valve never changed. The world did, and it revealed Valve's true colors.
The fact that, based on the script, episode 3 absolutely would have lived up to the hype is fucking ridiculous. They used "expectations are too high, it'll be a disappointment no matter what" as a way to shift the blame onto the fans, but three things.
>Valve never should have waited so long to become a running gag
>Valve should have communicated with the fans in any capacity instead of leading everyone on with tiny hints and implicative silence. Their silence is what let so much hype fester
>if episode 3 ended up being a letdown, it wouldn't matter that much. Fans wanted closure. Since episode 3 was supposed to close Gordon's story, it being a letdown wouldn't have impacted the sales of future Half Life games because there wouldn't be any future Half Life games.
Valve will make money. A lot of money. More than Gabe will ever spend in his life, and he'll be able to buy any material possession he wants. But what Valve will never be is beloved. Gabe will never be put on the same pedestal as Miyamoto or Kojima. One day his name will be forgotten in the mainstream, and people will only know Valve. And Valve will just be another EA or Ubisoft.
Gabe gave up his legacy just to be richer than he already was.
Thanks pal.
Everything.
>my empire of dirt
valve's company structure is really shit for getting anything done
it's supposed to have no structure but it's run be circlejerks
fine valve if episode 3 really isnt coming, ill play dota and artifact. fuck you.
t. pcbro
dotafags aren't anything but dotafags
it isn't right to say they play or enjoy video games when all they do is play dota
I doubt artifact is going to do well at all
>I doubt artifact is going to do well at all
that's where you're wrong, kiddo
I don't think Valve realizes who they're facing up against. In the western world, they're facing against Hearthstone and in the eastern world they're facing against Shadowverse, both really popular games.
>it isn't right to say they play or enjoy video games when all they do is play dota
this is correct
I played dota for about 3 years and almost nothing else. I quit about a year ago but I haven't had any fun playing games for a long time. I played overwatch for about a week when it came out but that's about it. I thought divinity 2 could have been fun but I barely played it for 10 minutes before I lost interest.
Competitive multiplayer games ruined me. I can't find anything to play anymore.

$$$$$
They killed Troika
Bad Rats
Half life 3
Depends how they model the game. They might go the Dota route and make everything free while leaving the money making stuff to cosmetics like the usualn
