Hi guys, are there any good MMOs in 2017?
MMOs
MMOs were never good.
FFXIV is basically it.
Only if you want stand around ERPing or raidlog.
You can choose between WoW and FFXIV.
That's the best you're going to get.
underaged
cucklord
Yes, but they're over 10 years old by this point, no real MMOs have come out in 2017 that are even worth talking about.
Yes, all of them
Try Blade and Soul.
see
This. I literally log in just to afk and play league till it's time to raid.
not really
pretty much this
>Yes, but they're shells of what they once were
Fixed.
GW2
WoW
FFXIVARR
Black Desert
ESO
And that's it.
Wakfu is the best MMO all year every year
>He plays ffxiv AND league. How do you still visit this board, see all the fun games we play and yet you don't kill yourself right now? You're like a cockroach that lives on shit and refuses to die.
>too mad to hit return
Dragon's Dogma Online is good, but that's technically not a real MMO except in the main hub.
>Want to ERP
>No one to bully my elf
...
Thats why we need to divorce MMOs and always online games that just happen to have multiplayer.
MOGs should be used to discribe instanced hub games, like Vindictus or Dragons Dogma Online, and leave MMOs to games where players share the same world space and actively interact with one another.
Is she a cute elf at least?
>XIV elves
>cute
i'd cum on your neck, user.
While I enjoyed playing it, even after Season 3 the content is seriously lacking
WoW, transmog edition
Oh XIV. My c@ could bully her with her futa cock if you catch my drift.
that looks like trash
i miss character model mods.
Fuck FFXIV, even WoW has faster and more satisfying gameplay than that, and it's been bastardized since 2004.
eve online
I don't play XIV
Yeah I can see why Capcom is reluctant to bring it over until they have more content
>tfw nothing will ever fill the void of WoW BC/WoTLK
...
I Changed the shoulders and boots, I was just leveling at the time and didnt want to waste a mog on leveling gear
I have some stuff planned, like a Sleeker look for a heroine of the alliance that includes a piece of gear from every alliance race
gonna have to farm ToC for a bit tho
WoW private server
I think he was calling the looks of the game trash, not your character model.
I don't play XIV anymore, however this is wrong. Especially for melee.
Positionals, heavy on player movement and more interesting rotations (actual rotations) sets it apart from WoW.
I prefer WoW casting however.
...
I've been playing Path of Exile. It's alright for a free to play game. Mostly just dungeon crawling and grinding. Good time waster
>Sandbox MMOs have the potential to be one of the coolest RP heavy games around, but never have enough content or customization to actually have fun
>And all themepark MMOs have dead RP communities except for ERP
woah mate you think wow has bad rotations?!
Ill prove you wrong!
*logs on to prot pally*
*Uses mythic keystone 15*
*Positions mobs away from players*
*Smashes face against keyboard*
*Presses every button on cooldown*
Theres your goddamn rotation bud
Rotation based gameplay ruined MMOs forever.
Reactionary gameplay will always be king, and no, adding more procs and RNG to your rotation doesn't make it less of a rotation.
Objectively wrong.
Giant bursts of dumb ass colors every time you do something. Taking 3x as long to do anything. The gameplay is just worse than WoW's in every way...and WoW's gameplay has only gotten worse.
what game
Yeah I've been playing a lot recently. Love it.
Forget it, I just reverse image searched
Haven and Hearth 2
ultima online is 20 years old
I've been playing SWTOR solo recently and been enjoying it enough.
>Can build comfy ass taverns, farm crops, food, make beer and wine, create great halls full of tables and bonfires
>invite everyone to come feast hang out and shoot shit
>no one ever does
>not even russian gankers
Lord of the Rings Online had a small but healthy RP community when I last checked, but I admit that was a wee while ago.
Too bad they dumbed all of that down with SB. Half the reason I quit.
>Old
School
>Rune
Scape
EVE is alright but I find it is now entirely run by a few player groups and if you're not in one of those groups you're going to have a bad time. Ask anybody what a new player should know/do and they'll usually reply with telling you to join up with one of the major groups.
There is always room for new player groups in EVE, you just can't assume that joining, making a group of friends, joining a small shitty alliance, having only enough ISK to field T1 cruisers or T2 frigs, ect, can punch up against the bigger alliances, 2 of which have external sources feeding newbros into their ranks for near limitless cannonfodder, who only need memery to keep them flying.
Also this october they're removing passive ISK income that the big alliances currently abuse to fund themselves.
join channel Sup Forumsbros and sign up for a corp
It's pretty good advice. You play with other people and will get more out of the game.
>get hyped for bdo
>turns out to be another korean grind
at least there's pof, i guess
Joining a major group is usually propaganda.
Join a smaller group, or better yet, become an explorer.
>shit transmog
>takes a photo of the screen
wow players
Could be worse.
Could have porn of their characters like me.
Sandbox mmos are the worst place to rp most often than not, because they are rigidly pvp playgrounds that may as well be a fucking rust or pubg.
I was thinking of reinstalling wildstar but then I remembered there is nothing to do at endgame besides raiding and battlegrounds
I know this, which makes me sad.
So much potential squandered because the genre thought f2p cash shop turbogrinds that belong on facebook games should be the heart of the genre.
Nope you gotta wait for Elyria in 2019
MMO midfag here, there are good MMOs, but no MMOs is good if you're soloing the content and never doing anything that requires socializing with other players in some form like Dungeons based MMOs.
Good MMOs imo;
Tera Online - Top tier combat, shitty optimization.
Black Desert - Great immersion, good combat, godlike character creator. Open world fags should love this one.
Aion Online - The last MMO before the big shift
Blade & Soul - Probably the best MMO to get into if you have never played an MMO in your life. This one is done really well in both combat and story presentation.
MMOs that you don't like but will play because big publisher or your friends play them;
FF14 - The combat is poor. The character creation is poor. The questing is extremely boring. As a new player to MMOs this one will make you not want to try any more MMOs simply because the beginning questing is so fucking boring that it'll put you to sleep.
WoW - WoW isn't bad, but you don't get into WoW because it's good either. You simply tried it because it's the most popular MMO. Alot of stuff about it is nostalgic for old farts but as a new player you will need friends in order to really get into it. Trying it alone will turn you off.
Hybirds. True Action/Dungeon Focus:
Phantasy Star Online - This is the one people will play because it's SEGA while never playing a single Phantasy Star game ad because anime. But SEGA actually did a good job with this one aside from the story shitting on everything that i Phantasy Star Online.
Vindictus - Godlike combat and waifus.
Dungeon Fighter Online - Do you like fighting games?
Soul Worker Online - Anime fags rejoice!
Closers Online - Anime fags rejoice!
Current Innovation, future FOTM:
Moonlight Blade - Like Martial Art movies? Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon?
Lost Ark - This one is a Triple AAA Killer. Blizzard will most likely announce Diablo 4 before this release in the WEST due to it because a huge threat.
>Good MMOs imo;
>Tera Online
I played that for a few hours.
>first quest: kill 10 wolves
>second quest: kill 15 trees
>third quest: kill 8 elves
>fourth que...
Really? They spent too much time making the girls look hot and not enough time making an interesting game
>Lost Ark - This one is a Triple AAA Killer
Please stop doing that. It's a fucking Korean grindfest and that's not a compliment.
If you noticed the entire post was about waifu fagging, which is a big plus in a genre thats all about playing a character through a supposedly dangerous world with friends.
But none of the games on that list currently give that experience, they're all facebook games with waifu sims and combat that makes OSRS look in depth.
Lol that's not even a few hours. That's not even 1 hours. That's not even after leaving the tutorial island. Also, they changed it, that Island doesn't even exist in the game anymore. I miss it.
>It's a fucking Korean grindfest and that's not a compliment.
>everyone else calls it a cinematic mmo
At least the later actually looked at some videos. You're saying that by default. You say that for all Korean MMOs and you've never played that games. Weak.
Is peria chronicles out yet?
Not only is it NOT out, but Peria Chronicles is no long a PC MMO and the footage you saw is now vaporware. They are moving over to a new engine and... the heartbreaker..for mobile phones
It looks good. I just don't want to be disappointed when it turns out shit.
Jesus christ
why do koreans have to ruin everything
leika-ro.net
fpbp
What about Revelation Online and Secret World Legend? I've heard those are good.
Also, for people in this thread do you think it is worth paying the 10$ to play the game, because if it so cheap it is a sign that is going f2p soon.
>no game has still surpassed Vanilla - TBC WoW
Why are most developers so incompetent?
80 online? Holy shit!
Yay mobile phones. The phone market is so really ripe desu.
It has so much potential. It can replace all handheld consoles
How is Crowfall looking so far? Last I looked it had an interesting premise but I dont know how far the devs steered from their original ideas
Having a guild (corp) in EVE is absolutely on par with many features of WoW.
>WoW's economy vs. EVE's
>thus WoW's crafting vs. EVE's
>having a guild/corp playing makes content active in both games
>WoW has structured (instanced) PvP, sort of tournament style; but the replayability seems rate limited by the productiveness (EVE's PvP is logistic, challenging local space, resources, or territory)
WoW has a unique metagame associated with character movement (mobility, etc.), but EVE is the fastest-spaceship multiplayer game I've found, with carrier/titan level gameplay as well.
There's a deal that CCP is giving for reporting RMT.
Dealing with and reporting real-money trading allows keeping the items (although it's asked that PLEX and other actual items are kept for checking trade routes).
Say $85 is up for spending on a WoW account (the base game the xpac, and a month sub).. That's 25 Large Skill Injectors. Training into Titan I is just 19 LSIs. Training the 4 faction's frigates and all small turrets to V is 7 LSIs.

To think I was unironically waiting for this
DDO is still and will always be a good MMO
th-thanks
Because they focus on the parts of WOW that are percieved to be the good parts, when they forget that WOW was revolutionary in so many ways, yet always focus on the instanced end game grind that everyone has always hated.
WOW at its core was casual, but challenging, it was an adventure, and they spent 5 years working solely on the new player experience, raids weren't even a thought until late into development, which is why anyone can still pick up WOW today for the first time and get out of the gates with some direction an purpose, while every other MMO had a mandatory 20-30 minute tutorial, before dropping you into the middle of a shitshow of 20 different progression paths, each streamlined to simply get you to end game as soon as possible, including the obligatory massive quest chain that every MMO today has, that is a series of terrible cutscenes, because modern WOW has them.
what MMO should i play, if don't want to interact with other players?
Dota
Dragon Age: Inquisition
>that pic
Is Warhammer TT the only hobby that never got the chad/slut treatment?
On top of this, no one ever -ever- considers what everyone was raving about back in 2004, the open world.
WOW was absolutely revolutionary for the time, except for instancing and boat/zeplins, there was no loading screens on any of the continents, because of this you had an absolute seemless transition between the various zones which allowed for crazy things to happen like town raids, AQ40 opening, Blackrock mountain on the weekends.
But over the years the heavy focus on instancing, a feature that was loathed by MMO fans of the time took over as the 'core' feature of WOW's development, and by the time BC came around, the damage was done, open world as core content was pretty much dead to the developers, and by WOTLK, there was no world content what so ever being developed except for soloable leveling and daily quests.
Slowly chugging along since they started development. The biggest change they've made is moving away from their archetype system (locked races to classes) to having races able to access a variety of classes.
They're sticking pretty close to their original vision, which is nice to see. I'm mostly worried if it'll stick well with the average mmo player.
f...fuck...
this isn't fair bros, when we will get 'THE' MMO to end all MMOs
Yes, because Warhammer TT is the place where nerdy men who actually have money can retreat to away from their girlfriends and wives
We did, in 2004.
WOW got everything so right when it came out, the genre only went downhill from there, even WOW only got worse over time.
Because everyone's "The" mmo is different.
