I do kind of miss the mechwarrior games I admit
nobel gundam is cute
CUTE!
Hope that tactics game doesn't get sued into the ground.
That thing looks top heavy as fuck and would fall over the moment a leg moved.
>gundam is absolutely impossible
but many prototypes already exist
Who wins, your typical modern soldier with standard gear or a dog-sized tank, as tall as your knee?
Harmony Gold is already trying.
a mech like in that pic absolutely can not be built in real life. the sheer size and weight of it simpy dont work on a two-leg basis.
...
The best MW designs are made by japs lol. Madcat and Atlas are the only exceptions.

The state of modern Sup Forums.
You just proved his point tho
Whoever fires the first shot.
Are you implying the people in do not exist?
Not only is this design completely retarded and impractical but it's also ugly as fuck. Why do we allow weebs to breathe our air again?
Some of those fatties can barely stand at that size. Giant mechs are affected by square law.
g gundam is an over the top kung fu fighting mecha anime with stupid stereotype robots, it's not supposed to be realistic
>this realistic
LOL. This is like saying cats flying is more realistic than pigs flying.
>got to the semi-finals by pretending to be a windmill for a year
Things must be either utilitarian or aesthetically pleasing to justify their existence. God tier is both. This is neither.
when will you understand that when technology exceeds physical limitations, the aesthetics become the focus of the design
Ay fuck that, here's a gundam with a sombrero
one shot from an antitank rifle into it's legs would take it out.
Is the VOTOMs game for PS2 any good?

I don't think anyone would argue Gundam designs are practical
1) you gotta hit it first
2) same thing goes for any (mobile armor)
that wont stop it from firing though
/m/ told me Harmony Gold gonna die in 2018
>gunfam wrassling is actually how political power is determined in G Gundam
>Neo Holland's plan wasn't even to win, they got knocked out right away
>but just by making it to the final tournament, they drastically increased their political presence since the previous year
Everything about this show is gold
>"gundams are just walking jets" meme
Makes me actually mad tbdesu, almost as bad as thinking every mecha in the Gundam metaverse is a Gundam
maybe not in space, but on land being able to traverse difficult terrain is an advantage
Fun as hell but it gets repetitive. Pretty big roster of VOTOMS though
The joke here being, of course, that in universe the mechs were originally designed as space vehicles, only being used as land based mechs later in the war once the invasion of earth began.
Frankly it's more practical that most sci fi mecha just for actually explaining and justifying how shit works and why.
Actually the mechs in Gundam were originally made to replace space fighters, and were later adapted for land use
Define built.
It's pure fanservice, if you liked the series you'll like the game
>eyecatch tune on the loading screen
>standard gear
Are we talking just pack + service rifle, or does he have AT? Because if he has AT he has a marked advantage over dog tank
I like my mecha how I like my girls, cold, metallic, armed with large guns, and not Western.
originally they were in the shape of Balls, which for all intents and purposes was utilitarian by design
the mobile suits had the power of a battleship in a compact design exponentially smaller than an actual battleship to the point that actual battleships became glorified cargo vessels
in any case the legs could be used for alternate vernier thruster vectors
that's gotta be good in space yea especially when the suit is designed to mimic human movement
They've already built two Gundams in real life.
RX-78-2 had to be dismantled though so he can carry the torch for the 2020 olympics.
>not western
What even is western mech(s)a at this point? The biggest one, Battletech originally used Macross designs. Even now, PIGGY's versions of the unseen mechs still bare heavy resemblance to their original versions.
>This mech can actually be built in real life
>What even is western mech(s)a at this point?
>people continue to forget
> battletech used macross
really? whered you hear that?
i thought it was the other way around
No, the game with space ninjas throwing kunai and fire shuriken at each other while wall running and piloting nimble samurai mechs has no japanese influence. The Devs said so.
>The visual design of the original line of BattleMechs were taken from Macross and other anime, including many signature images. In later years FASA abandoned these images, and it was common speculation by fans that the decision was the result of a lawsuit brought against them by Playmates and Harmony Gold [USA] over the use of said images.
>Harmony Gold U.S.A. and Playmates Toys v. FASA Corporation and Virtual World Entertainment, 95 2972 (U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division 1996-06-12).
>the cockpit is a boeing bomber
>missile pods exist
LITERALLY 30% there already
>Muh square cube law
Yeah, which is exactly why fucking 9-ton dinosaurs never existed.
Oh wait.
>a cohesive connection of muscles and tendons or organic life equals machinations of mechanic power.
And while people as obese as this can barely stand the wouldn't crumble down as a bunch of pieces would.
bipedal mech of all form are fucking dumb
at best 4/6 legged tanks will be as close as we get and still be useful
Titanfall isn't mecha, devs said so
You'll notice dinosaurs aren't designed like most two legged mechs either. The specific problem is human proportions, not size. That, and the problems with robot joints working at that scale.
In July 2017, a study by William Sellers et al., published in the journal PeerJ found that an adult Tyrannosaurus was incapable of running due to very high skeletal loads. The study used the latest computing technology to test its findings. The researchers used two different structural mechanical systems to create the computer model. The weight they settled on for their calculations was a conservative estimate of 7 tons. The model showed that speeds above 11 mph (18 km/h) would have probably shattered the leg bones of Tyrannosaurus.
ah i see
Weigh distribution isn't hard to figure out at all, especially when a humanoid form is not the only design you can build a mech in.
I really like Titanfall's mech design.
Legion is a bro.
Bone mass is many times inferior than the alloys we have to day in terms of tensile strength, toughness and impact resistance. Either way, the point is that square cube law only exists to show people that mechs can't work IF they're built the size of a fucking mountain, which nobody would find useful anyway. It's a simple calculation of area and volume with a smaller increase ratio than you think.
He isn't wrong. Gundams would buckle under their own weight. 400lbs humans can't even walk without fucking up their legs. Weight, pressure and mass are a real thing that pull you down and human legs weren't designed to support such weight. Feet need to be much larger to spread the weight evenly and stop it from sinking into the ground. Top weight would need to be less than it is on gundams and spread out more evenly to the legs.
battletech has THE worst mech designs I've ever fucking seen, and this is coming from someone who likes western mechs more than mecha and hates flashy, spiky gundam designs.
Giant tanks >>> Mechs
>Top weight would need to be less than it is on gundams
>uses a fucking TIMBER WOLF as an example
Wider feet I'll give you, but jesus christ get it together man.
>liking giant tanks
Maximum retard. Did you learn nothing from the germans?
Enjoy being rendered immobile by an IED and never getting fixed on the field.
looks appealing in a way
Armored Core fag here. I'm not a huge Gundam fan, but I do have a soft spot for any Altron variation, Zakus, and Turn A mechs.
While Gundam is hit and miss, EVAs are complete shit. Literally the ugliest mechs ever created.
Living Legends has a thriving community again
>implying the best mecha series isn't the one where the mechs are giant girls
Is there anything more stupid than a Mech holding a giant gun? It just looks silly.
Is that by the same guy who did Alice in Hell?
But user, Titans aren't mechs
yes
Probably the tank.

Imagine something moving as fast as one of these while spraying full-auto fire everywhere.
> WW2
Germans production was gimped.
Modern versions would have dedicated engineers + spare-parts, as well as advanced AA built in.
Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries was absolutely amazing. I remember when it got a 3dfx patch on a PC Gamer magazine demo disc. Real time lightning effects and textured models instead of gouraud shading. It was a game changer.
>temperature at 300 Kelvin
Anyone remember Heavy Gear? Game was flawed but still great. Never ended up trying part 2.
Who was literally in the wrong here?
Enjoy being slow as molasses, slow reloading due to massive shells, being a gigantic target for guided missiles/artillery and rolling over IEDs that can send an entire city block to fucking space
Steinerfags of course
>hurr lets pledge our loyalty to the insane bitch of a sister instead of the based badass brother who btfo the clans
Don't need to worry about IEDs and artillery when you basically are the heaviest mobile Artillery.
GIANT TANKS!
GIANT TANKS!
GIANT TANKS!
>He isnt playing MWLL since it got a huge player boost after Mandalore gaming gave it a mention on his video
Its like you WANT to be freeborn
>He said as he posted the iconic mech of the clan that actually TREATS freebirths as if they're human
Speedy mechs are literally the only possible reason mecha could exist. Walking tanks are far less realistic.
>shilling this hard
Are you active? There is an team based event next month when the new patch is launched and my team needs one more player. IGN if interested?
Speed >>>>>> size
Can't fight an enemy that bombs you to hell while you're still being assembled on the field after being transported to the AO in chunks.
I like SupCom
>SupCom
>Game isn't about your RTS units rapping to you over comms
Im on the sign up sheet as someone who needs a team.
PICK ME COACH
I only played 2. There was a qt in a melee robot made of tissue paper, wanted to take her in the squad but she'd always get shredded immediately
Pic related down the radio every time she did
Why?
If mechs became sophisticated enough to have human-like dexterity with their hands, it would probably be more effective for them to carry around weapons. You could just grab a rocket launcher out of the armoury if the situation called for it instead of having to bolt on different weapons for different situations.
> implying it wouldn't be assembled somewhere heavily defended
> mech fags imaging they'd have unlimited ammo like in bideo games
Who's even talking about mechs? Do you know just how many options of long range weaponry exist to destroy armored targets at ridiculous ranges?
Speed and momentum always beats armor, and AP artillery shells/bunker busters are sure as fuck going to wreck your shit if you do so much as roll out of your factory.
Shortduck is best mech.
Glarrg?
My first fucking master grade, my nigga Shame Virgo will never be a mastergrade
Nah.
Dumbest thing i've read all night
Aside from the shoulders this is actually a pretty cool design
>They don't know
