Is Epona just a reskinned Kirin? I think I've seen its special attack and it was very similar.

By the way, it turns out that Kirin is a decent healer. Not as good as Pecos, but probably the next best thing.

It's called Agnaktor and it can be found spawning in the volcano itself (Gravios spawns there as well). However, it is not a ride-able monster, which is truly a shame.

Because a lot of people have a hateboner for Generations due to entirely optional styles and arts. Well, lack of g-rank may be a thing too. I honestly prefer Generations because it's more fun than 4U and hope we'll get MHXX eventually.

What good has a healer monster when the rider cannot ditch enough damagebto justify making the monster the support?

This should make a pokemon BW dlc with a zekrom and rehsiram monstie, plus white abd black (the trainers) armors.

I guess you can do different stuff, like laying traps, buffing, using protect or whatever. And it's not like Kirin would actually spam healing.

But that is support role, that is good when the monster is a damage dealer.

4U has more and in most people's opinion better content. Generations is still solid if you're looking to get into MH.

I already have 5 heavy damage dealers on my team and the sixth one being capable of any form of support, while still hitting pretty hard seemed like a nice change of pace.

How? Is Qurupeco a meta monster? How the fuck is it so strong?

Peco is secretly super strong, there's is a reason why a top tier rider from your village mains it.
But honestly, maybe you gave your Ratha shitty skills? Bingos don't mean much if the genes themselves are weak. And monsters have their preferences and will refuse to use certain skills that don't fit them.

Fire Fang, Poison Spike, Power Charge, Soothing Song are the genes with skills I gave it. The rest are passive buffs to match Bingo I found from Quite Heavy Flying/Bird Wyverns like Power Boost (M) I found on a Blos.
They don't seem like bad genes, maybe I'm just missing something

Two speed type attacks, a boosting move and healing - doesn't seem particularly good, but I never bothered using Ratha myself. I'm guessing it's using power charge way too often and barely ever the skills from Rathians? I'd suggest Sleep Needle, it's a cheap power type move with a nice added effect and maybe that AoE attack from Gravios to see if it gets better.

Do more monsters become available as the story progresses or are some just really rare? Suddenly there's a quest for Tigrex in the snow fields but I never saw one while I was wandering around there. Also can I use monsters from the beginning of the game in "end game" or will they all be replaced eventually?

Nvm, ratha fucking murdered it

More become available in old areas as you progress. You can also use some early monsters till late game very easily, I had my B. Yian Kut-Ku from the first area till the very end as one of my mains. People also say Zamtrios is a really good ice attacker all the way to the end.
If a monster spams too much useless shit you'll probably feel like dropping it though.

About the mon variety, i admit this is my very first true MH experience so i don't have the despair veteran hunters turned riders have because their favorite old monster is not there.
And about the framerate, i have the super 3ds and never see it or is so insignificant that i don't give a fuck.
