You now remember that this game exists
You now remember that this game exists
Yeah, what about it?
Yeah it's the best Zelda game since OoT
great game, whats your point?
And I beat it twice, too. What're you driving at?
you now see the 2D link on the stone wall
Yeah i got it, not that great when you have no nastolgia but i got about 6.5h into it before getting board and giving up
I never forgot it existed, I still like it. Probably gonna do a Hard mode run sometime soon.
>All this praise for a 4 hour fuck ugly rehash
I never forgot about it. I love it so much.
Honestly my favorite Zelda games are this and botw. People don't understand is that there 2 games mechanically speaking really harken back to the original Zelda. The spirit of free adventure and isolation that the original Zelda contained holds true to these games.
It took me 6 hours to get to the underworld part, how far am i from the end?
You still got 8 dungeons to do, if it took you 6 hours to do 3 then by that math you'll have some pies to deal with if you know what I mean hah.
better than the original desu
Hm, maybe one day i will fish. I started it up last week and couldnt remember how to heal, get heart pieces, or progress so i stopped
Isolation from gameplay isn't what 1986 was about.
The original Zelda was about finding your way, but moreso it was about getting your ass sodomized on the way there. Right out of the gate BotW tells you exactly where to go and explains almost every mechanic to you, and there is absolutely nothing stopping you from getting from A to B.
BotW is on the opposite end of the spectrum from LoZ. LoZ emphasized gameplay, BotW emphasizes walking. Where you might clear enemies so you could explore a frame in LoZ, you are free to do anything without any fear of enemies because they only exist in MMO trash mobs that serve no purpose. It's why the blue torch section(s) are the best parts of BotW; because they actually present a challenge for (You) to overcome, you know, like an actual video game.
BotW is a piss stain with more relation to No Man's Sky than Legend of Zelda.
It's not like I forgot it exists, it's a decent game.
The biggest problem I had with it was that it was way too fucking easy, because the only time I died was when I went into the 50 floor battle tower without being fully prepared, and then I cleared it easily enough on the 2nd try with potions and all that.
I still thought it was fun enough though.
>The original Zelda was about finding your way
Nah it was about buying Nintendo Power
Damn good game.
Yeah, great game and the best handheld Zelda since the Oracle games.
As someone who wasn't emotionally attached to ALTTP, this game would have been 10 times better with an original overworld.
This has to be the worse opinion I read all week on this site, worse part is that it sounds like he believes the crap he is spitting, despite knowing well he just watched a couple streams and called it a day.
Never played it, but it looked fun.
Of course I remember you, you're one of the best 3DS games and the freshest Zelda in AGES until BOTW came along.
it's much better on hardcore mode, too bad the difficulty there only lasts until you get a few extra hearts
A Link to the Past was better, even though ALBW dungeons felt more unique, sometimes their gimmick fell flat, combine that with the easier combat and limited dungeon puzzles, whereas ALttP had consistently good dungeons, even if they sometimes looked and played similar.
The ALTTP overworld did an amazing job of demonstrating how much turning into a painting on the wall changed about how you navigated 2D space in zelda games.
That said the Dark World should have been drastically different to compensate for that. And it really wasn't
Do you even have an opinion on the game?
I wish I would've saved my money after watching those fucking awful Treehouse streams, but I figured "no they're just showing you the game and the mechanics, the combat can't really be that awful once you progress"
Saw some leaked mobile footage of some French-Canadians playing the Plataeu demo and decided to use my Wii U for something.
Pleb
Just beat it yesterday. Good game, just short.
I get what you mean, the wall mechanic was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.
Still, it was disappointing to play a brand new Zelda game and already know the map from the start.
This. Only 4 dungeons, crappy simple puzzle rooms, and just walking to each place cause that's all it was.
I'm still mad that the only shrine I've beaten so far that made me think for more than two seconds was the constellation one in the forest.
Which one? There are 2 different link paintings on the wall.
I'm willing to forgive the ugliness because all 3D-rendered games on DS/3DS are ugly. But the game was so damn easy, it's like a Zelda with an extra layer of babyproofing.
I'm pretty sure that's the only one that unironically makes you think. It's the only one anybody ever mentions.
It's funny; Half Life 2 did "advanced" physics puzzles almost 15 years ago, and while they were praised, they were also criticized for being tedious.
BotW 2017: 99 "Puzzle" Shrines, not including the Constellation or Tests of Strength. Quality fuckin' game design
>mfw they couldn't even have the Shrines make sense lore-wise
You forgot that in some shrines you're rewarded just for entering.
I remember when 2D Zelda games like ALttP and LA were just as important as the 3D console installments. Nowadays with games like ALBW and TFH, they feel like they only exist just to stall for time for the 3D games and nothing more.
While I generally agree that DS/3DS games are ugly as sin, I'm unconvinced it's the hardware's fault. There are 3D rendered games that look half-decent, RE: Revelations and DQVIII spring to mind.
Nintendo is just always looking for the lazy cash grab, and they know their retarded fanbase will buy it regardless.
Every Zelda game is easy as fuck. BOTW is just as if not even more brainless since most of what you encounter can be easily dispatched with your limitless supply of bombs that ragdoll almost every enemy in the game and make them all drop their weapons.
No zelda game is difficult. They all have an entertaining, almost Disney like charm to their worlds and characters, but as games have always been nearly braindead and without any real challenge.
Oh right, the Shrine Quest Shrines.
>Do a Shrine Quest
>Oh shit that was kind of neat, I'm ready for my expansive optional Shrine with some puzzles and maybe some gear at the end
>Enter
>Walk forward 10 fr
>YOU HAVE PROVED YOURSELF WORTHY, enjoy your stamina upgrade fag
In BotW every second enemy one-shots you before you get some high end armor and a supply of hearts..
this is a real "oh, this exists?" game.
There are so many half-assed Zelda games these days.
Yes but once you get high end armor and a supply of hearts the game has no challenge anymore. Everything including white enemies end up easy as fuck 3/4ths through the game except for Lynels (which you can cheese anyway)
I'm angry now.
My day is ruined.
>Get one-shotted
>Game re-loads to right before the enemy encounter
>Wonder why I even approached the enemy in the first place
>Sidestep them and never fight anything in the game ever again because there is no point and the combat is absolute shit
HELP ME AUTOSAVE
Or until you meander into Kakariko 3 hours in, pawn some shit for the soldier armor and gather the fairies that float around the fountain right outside of town, and cook up a few meals to boost your heart rate.
None of which is remotely difficult or taxing, it just takes maybe 30 minutes of prep time to be able to handle everything until you make it to the next town.
Again I totally see why it's so appealing, you really do feel like you're preparing for some awesome adventure, but the game itself is never difficult.
That charm is the lifeblood of Zelda, nothing else.
Cool gimmick but mediocre game. It's better than Phantom Hourglass but not by much
I remember upgrading armor and eating that max defense meal before a lynel and his attacks ended up doing 2.5 hearts of damage to me. Didn't have to try anymore, just used stasis when he charged and I simply outlasted him.
TFH is awesome, fuck the haters. It's one of the best three Zelda games of the last 15 years.
Just carry a few fairies from the fountain with you and bring a few meals. You don't need to cheese shit, if you can't not get hit less than the 5-6 times you can take a hit even with low heart rate on an enemy that telegraphs that much the problem is you, not the game.
The first lynel will probably kill you a few times since the rest of the game is such a cakewalk you don't really expect any sort of a real fight, but after that first one there's nothing about them remotely challenging.
And shock arrows completely negate almost any encounter and for some reason I always had 100+ of them. There's also that tower where all respawning enemies drop shock weapons every time.
>Used to play it with my friends until on of them fucked up hacking his 2DS
Fantastic game
less amazing, but still really fun game
I thought you couldn't be one shot so long as you are at your max health.
god damn was it boring
I know zelda games arent known to be difficult, but this was so piss easy I felt insulted
Having enemies that one shot you doesn't matter much either way when the game gives you a regenerating free life from Mipha and a supply of fairies from the beginning at Kakariko.
Unless you go full retard and just ignore every NPC telling you where everything else (even going so far as either marking your map or giving you explicit clear directions including what direction to face from a nearby location) like a lot of my friends seem to do, nothing in the game is difficult to work around.
I'm literally playing it right now though
Still have no clue how people are saying it's easy compared to any other zelda when even random overworld enemies take 11 hits to kill and absolutely everything does an entire heart of damage are but whatever.
I guess they mean it's easy after you've gotten upgrades, because if you have no upgrades for anything it's harder than most in terms of combat.
Fairies don't even heal you up all the way either, I dunno how you can say that makes it easier than any of the zelda games where they do.
The puzzles are pretty simple though I admit. Could definitely use more story and stuff too, there are basically only 2 villages in the entire game so far I guess.
I LOVED playing through it the first time, thought it was going to be one of my all time faves, but for some reason it's super boring to replay, no idea why though, I'm fine replaying most other zeldas 100 times
>>Still have no clue how people are saying it's easy compared to any other zelda when even random overworld enemies take 11 hits to kill and absolutely everything does an entire heart of damage are but whatever.
combat in zelda is never difficuilt except for maybe zelda 2. what they mean is that the dungeons' puzzles are too easy.
i would agree if there were people online playing it. takes forever to find a rando and when you do they either lag like crazy, are complete idiots, or are complete assholes. or all three.
but when it works it's pretty great
